Kaiser Chiefs is an odd one. I have no idea how it will go because of their gimmick, I also don't know if they even still have the fanbase to get a top 2 album. Looking at the top of the album chart, there's no one who could benefit from a Glasto inspired climb either....

 

It was certainly a gamble - they've sacrificed sales to the people who bought their own version of the album but it also earned a fair bit of attention. The mere fact that we're speculating about them probably means it's worked, they could have done with "Little Shocks" preceding the album and going top 40 though.

I still can't see Beyoncé's album being #1 to be honest. Hopefully 21 can snatch a 17th week at #1 this week :P If GaGa was only 1k ahead of Bon Iver yesterday and Adele has now overtaken Bon Iver it's got to be really close.

Hopefully SoundGirl can sneak back in the top 40 come Sunday as it's just climbed back to the top 40 on iTunes. Same for Don't Hold Your Breath :)

Odd to see Adele actually falling 2 places with [sFTTR] - despite being relatively high on iTunes - obviously sales from The Black Eyed Peas, Dev and Jennifer Lopez are preventing any movement.

 

As for the album chart, it's a shame Bon Iver's fallen to #3 - although now I have my fingers crossed that Adele can return to #1 - I'd rather her than Gaga.

For the first time in nine weeks Adele has neither the US’s biggest-selling album nor single, but a surge in radio airplay for Rolling In The Deep keeps it at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for another week.

 

Having been the top-selling download for the previous six weeks, the Adele track is now only the fifth biggest digital track in the States, after being overtaken by Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, Give Me Everything by Pitbull featuring NeYo, AfroJack & Nayer, and Jason Aldean’s Dirt Road Anthem.

 

However, the Hot 100 is based on a combination of sales and airplay and it is the latter which saves the day for Rolling In The Deep. While its weekly sales drop by 16% to 188,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, data from Nielsen BDS reveals the track’s radio audience has grown 1% to 153m. It is now the top song on the Pop, Adult Contemporary, Triple A and Adult Pop Songs Billboard charts and, despite its sales drop, secures a seventh consecutive week leading the Hot 100.

 

Adele, though, has lost her chart-topping crown on albums with 21 dropping to three on the Billboard 200 as Eminen claims a ninth number one in total. He has led the listings six times as a solo artist, twice with D12 and now achieves it as a duo alongside Royce da 5’9” whose joint effort with Marshall Mathers, Hell: The Sequel, debuts at the top with 171,000 sales. That is 10,000 sales ahead of America’s Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho who enters at two with Dream With Me a fortnight after charting at four in the UK.

 

Although Adele’s 21 is down to third place, its weekly sales are off less than 1% to 115,000 and its tally is now significantly ahead of Lady GaGa’s much newer release Born This Way, which drops 2-4 with 68,000 sales as Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party moves 7-5 with 51,000 sales.

MJ2006..Thanks for that..Go for it Adele! Isn't she now chasing Olivia Newton John's "Physical" which had a 10 week run in 1981? Most weeks at no.1 by a British female artist. I always thought of her as Australian but realised she was born in England. Prior to that it was Lulu who had 5 weeks at no.1 back in 1967 with "To Sir With Love". A song that was only a "B" Side in the UK!

I think you're mistaken, SFTTR was a new entry within top 40 at #25. It says in update 20+5 so its still #25 so hasnt dropped or climbed. Considering its #19, i'm sure it'll be up a couple of places at least come the official chart sunday. Also yes its selling 21 which is what its meant to do too.

23 isn't the record. The Beatles did more than that on more than one occasion I think. It's just that if 21 is top 2 this week it'll be the longest top 2 run since 1974 (when Carpenters had 23).

Honestly why are people buying a woman-beater Chris Brown's singles? I bet if the friends and family of the single buyers assualted a woman, they would cast them away and never speak of them again.
