Well, Snoop Dogg was on California Gurls last year. He should do a California Gurls, Part II, where he raps more about how awesome the girls in California are. I'm being serious, I think that could be a hit. I'm sure he has more to say about them than "Toned, tanned, fit and ready". He could use a beat similar to California Gurls, but less electro, and with more drums, and for the hook he could sample half of the original California Gurls chorus.

See, #1 on the Hot 100, right there. :D Would get so much airplay in California aswell!!! :o I hope he's reading this.

I think he risked his fanbase enough by 'selling out' to do the Katy Perry and David Guetta collabs. (Even though the latter was a remix, not a collaboration, Snoop Dogg's core fanbase were still pretty pissed off with him)

In fact, I'd say it's possible CG killed his US career if it weren't for the fact it was already pretty much dead before that anyway. 'Malice N Wonderland' only made #23 on the US albums chart and the first single 'Gangsta Luv' only got #35 (and 'I Wanna Rock' got #41, with the album re-release 'More Malice' reaching #29. Sub-par positions all around!)

Doggumentary was actually a bit bigger than MNW at least in terms of peak position though I guess. (At the expense of the singles doing even worse than the ones from MNW)

True. I think a lot of his fans need to realize he was approached specifically by Katy to rap on California Gurls, since she wanted a rapper from California to do it. I was watching an interview of her today actually, where she was saying how she put Snoop-friendly lyrics in the song to try and lure him over when she asked him. And about Sweat, Snoop Dogg said on the radio that David Guetta heard the original version and asked to remix it because he thought he could make it a hit. So in both cases he was just helping out other people, but some of his fans seem to think he went and asked David Guetta to remix his song or something.

Also, there was Kush aswell!!! :D :D But unfortunately it didn't get very popular for some reason. :(

 59. Talk Talk Talk - Darren Hayes

Seems to be doing the same thing Bombay Bicycle Club did. (They're down to #52 now)

79. Something Good Can Work - Two Door Cinema Club

87. Many of Horror - Biffy Clyro

95. Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons

98. What You Know - Two Door Cinema Club

Good to see Little Lion Man back, hopefully it can add another week to its top 100 chart run. It seems The Cave will never catch LLM weeks-wise (it's been constantly one week behind for ages as it's only charted concurrently with LLM ever since closing the gap to one week). It's currently #115. Would like to see both re-enter the top 100 but I don't think either will.

Good to see Dirty dancer top 40 now. ^_^

Dirty Dancer increasing :o

I'm tired of Enrique's music videos now because it's practically always him staring at some chick dancing or stripping or engaging with them, etc etc.

I don't mind the music videos, but they don't match the music at all. Songs like Tonight and Dirty Dancer, they make me imagine him being at a kids birthday party or something. They're too jolly and innocent to be strip club songs or whatever.

What? Even though the full title of 'Tonight' is 'Tonight (I'm Fuckin'/Lovin' You)'? You still imagine it to be at a kids party?

Yeah. The beat of it. It's too happy, and not sexual enough imo. I imagine sunshine when I hear Tonight and Dirty Dancer, like people playing on a beach or something, and having a good time, as opposed to a lot of songs by Akon, for example, when I imagine exactly what the songs about, even if I'm not paying attention to the lyrics.

I always imagine a dark, steamy, place as a result of the dark, steamy basslines. The lyrics as well add to the effect.

Ironically, I regarded KP & DG as the ones 'selling out' their fanbases by doing rap collaborations. :P

I guess I never thought to see it from the pov of Snoop's fans, since rappers are *always* doing collaborations...

Ooh :D

I do hope they can manage to shake off being a 'two (minor(ish)) hit wonder' with their second album, but as long as LLM and TC still keep selling that's great too :P

Their album is now back up to #4 on iTunes Albums as well :o

Snoop Dogg tended to collab on urban songs though, like RnB and hip hop, artists like Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Pharell, Justin Timberlake, R. Kelly, 50 Cent, Eminem, Pussycat Dolls, Akon, Mariah Carey, and so on.

Katy Perry is a full-on pop artist, and the only vaguely urban thing she's done that I can think of is E.T. (and she also did a Timbaland produced song), and California Gurls is a full-on pop song. And then David Guetta's version of Sweat is literally just a europop song.

It's not a big problem for me tbh, but he's been in the mainstream for 20 years now, so his original fanbase must be a bit baffled at his recent songs.

It's weird how Last Friday Night is now ahead of The Edge of Glory. Although I think the fact that last night was Friday night might be helping it at the moment.

Foster The People seems to be having a jolly good run on iTunes, I'm so addicted to it now.

But Justin Timberlake was a 'full-on pop artist' in the past, and Mariah Carey was a ballad singer, so I therefore see no reason why collaborating with KP or DG would be seen as any different by his fans?
