Music Week, correct to w/e 24th August 2023:

Tension sees the continuation of Kylie’s impressive stint as an independent artist via her partnership with BMG, which has so far produced a hat-trick of No.1 records in the form of 2018’s country pop-powered Golden (167,484 sales, OCC) and 2020’s Disco (178,987 sales), as well as 2019 compilation Step Back In Time – The Definitive Collection (224,627 sales). BMG’s SVP, UK recordings Jamie Nelson is eager to maintain the partnership’s 100% hit rate.
Tension has, of course, already yielded Kylie’s biggest hit in nearly a decade in the enchanting Padam Padam (250,485 sales)

Great to get a sales update on her last 3 releases, good to see that step back in time will eventually go platinum but could take a couple of years, with upcoming promo etc will help it a little but it will still take time.

Same applies to golden and disco as they slowly (snail pace) make their way to 200k but that wont change their certification.

Overall though i am happy with those sales and hopefully Tension can at least match what golden and disco have achieved or ideally surpass them.

It's been 14 weeks since the last updates for 'Golden' (166,699) and 'Disco' (176,116) which means they've averaged 56 and 205 copies each week since.

Last update for 'Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection' was 84 weeks ago (168,360) so has averaged 670 copies each week since. It's on track to be certified Platinum in October 2025.

Hopefully it will be slightly higher than 670 for the next few week for step back in time with her back in full limelight but if October 2025 was the latest it achieved platinum id still be happy with it, fingers crossed it can get there sooner as others mentioned tagging on padam padam could help it out nicely.

Interesting that Disco pulls about 150 more sales a week than Golden as i dont know why i always think Dancing and stop me from falling would have more of a draw streaming than say something and magic but for me i do much prefer disco as an album so i am happy to see it have the better sales of the 2 but thats not to take away from golden which is also an album i still really enjoy.

Disco has much better streaming across its tracks plus Extended Mixes vinyl is so cheap on Amazon it must help long term with the trickle sales vs Golden.

SBIT that’s good to see a nice movement up, guess it’s mostly streaming but that 3CD is usually around £5 on Amazon too. Given her catalogue streaming is on an upward trend and boosted after PP then a platinum cert could arrive much sooner than October 2025. It’ll also increase the numbers should she tour the UK 2024. The upcoming Tension promo especially Audience with and the televising of Sunday’s R2 gig won’t hurt it’s chances either!

I'd like to think the same that the audience with, tour, promo of new album etc can help SBIT sell that bit faster to help speed up getting to platinum.

Love that sales average for SBIT!

Love that sales average for SBIT!

Same, I thought it would have dropped down to 400-500 so I’m pleased to see it at nearly 700.

Praying that we actually get a Top 40 biggest songs list (including streams) from the OCC at any point this coming week!

Another update already!

Tension sees the continuation of Kylie’s impressive stint as an independent artist via her partnership with BMG, resulting in that hat-trick of No.1 records in the form of 2018’s country pop-powered Golden (167,701 sales, OCC) and 2020’s Disco (179,658 sales), as well as 2019 compilation Step Back In Time – The Definitive Collection (227,709 sales).

Tension has already yielded Kylie’s biggest hit in nearly a decade in Padam Padam (293,388 sales), which received its live debut on American Idol in May.

These sales are correct to w/e 21 September 2023, four weeks after the sales in the previous update. 'Golden' has averaged 54 copies in four weeks, 'Disco' has averaged 168 and 'Step Back in Time' has averaged 771. 'Padam Padam' sold 9,696 last week (SCR sales).

Few good sales updates again from Music Week! Especially Light Years on over 508k in the UK and Disco 700k worldwide.

The Australian's 16th studio LP promises to extend her impressive stint as an independent artist via her partnership with BMG, which has so far produced a hat-trick of No.1 records: 2018’s country music-influenced Golden (167,761 sales, OCC) and 2020’s Disco (179,892 sales), as well as 2019 compilation Step Back In Time – The Definitive Collection (228,584 sales).

Tension has been boosted significantly by its physical release, which accounts for 35,777 units, whilst it has 2,849 sales from downloads and 1,675 derived from streams. The LP was trailed by two Top 20 singles - the title track (30,085 sales), which peaked at No.19, and the No.8 smash Padam Padam (302,511 sales) - Minogue's biggest hit in nearly a decade - which also reached the US Top 40.
