Notes:

Your Disco Needs You

This wasn't released as a single in the UK, but imported copies sold enough in the UK for it to peak at #152.

Can't Get You Out of My Head

Promotional copies of this single must have been sold & tracked by the OCC; it charted at #179, 3 weeks in advance of the commercial release.

Santa Baby

Originally included as a B Side on the 2000 single 'Please Stay', 'Santa Baby' entered the singles chart in 2007 (the first year in which any song available to legally download was eligible for inclusion in the singles chart). Its best position in 2007 was #76, but it eventually reached its peak position of #31 on 1st January 2021.

White Diamond and Magnetic Electric

These are 'X' era album tracks which were iTunes bonus tracks in the UK, hence they sold enough downloads to chart.

Black and White

In actuality this is an entry for the 2015 EP 'Kylie + Garibay', but by this point in time the OCC were crediting EPs by the title of the first song included on the EP. Something they seemingly weren't doing in 2010 considering the entry for 'A Kylie Christmas'.

- The Top 200 ceased to exist after June 2017, therefore if a Kylie release hasn't made the Top 100 since then, it can be considered to have not charted at all.

Other Releases

These are singles which either failed to chart in the UK, or weren't released in the UK to be able to chart (or they were released here, but weren't primarily aimed at the UK market - for instance, apparently Wonderful Christmastime was aimed at Italy).

I haven't included promotional singles! Although I have included Can't Stop Writing Songs About You and 10 Out of 10 - neither of which the Kylie Wikipedia page seems to want to claim as being singles, but I'm not sure on what grounds they weren't singles, personally.

Magnetic Electric and White Diamond were part of an iTunes exclusive edition of X….they were never meant to be available to download separately but the error wasn’t spotted for part of the release week.

Happy days!

There seems to be quite a lot of long deleted singles in the physical chart. Put Yourself In My Place #86 and Did It Again #87 (both 11-2-12), Breathe #67 (25-2-12), Got To Be Certain #48 (2-11-17), Come Into My World #91 (23-4-20) and Please Stay #96 (14-1-21). How did this happen?
Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection - 244,623 on Fri 12th Jan 2024, re-entering at #190.

These were the sales of SBIT in Jan, I hope we get an update for the last week it has charted!

^^ Patiently waiting for SBIT to snatch a platinum award - it got a recent boost from the Hyde Park show and HMV sale too.

Me too but think we have a few months to wait yet.

^ This is on my vinyl list to purchase !!

Disco being the only Kylie studio album without a UK Top 40 hit was a discussion point in the Disco thread, so I thought I'd get together a list of her highest peaking tracks per album:

#1 - I Should Be So Lucky [Kylie] (1st single)

#1 - Hand on Your Heart & Tears on My Pillow [Enjoy Yourself] (1st and 4th singles)

#2 - Better the Devil You Know [Rhythm of Love] (1st single)

#2 - Give Me Just a Little More Time [Let's Get to It] (3rd single)

#2 - Confide in Me [Kylie Minogue] (1st single)

#14 - Did It Again & Breathe [impossible Princess] (2nd and 3rd singles)

#1 - Spinning Around [Light Years] (1st single)

#1 - Can't Get You Out of My Head [Fever] (1st single)

#1 - Slow [body Language] (1st single)

#4 - 2 Hearts [X] (1st single)

#3 - All the Lovers [Aphrodite] (1st single)

#12 - Into the Blue [Kiss Me Once] (1st single)

#31 - Santa Baby [Kylie Christmas] *

#38 - Dancing [Golden] (1st single)

#53 - Magic [Disco] (2nd single)

#8 - Padam Padam [Tension] (1st single)

The Impossible Princess era really was quite the blip for her, when you consider that across her first 9 studio albums it's the only album not to have a single peak as high as #1 or #2! Only #14!

It's interesting that even though the Let's Get To It era got off to a bad start for her (first single peaking at #16 and the album itself only reaching #15) it still went on to provide Kylie with a #2 hit single. A shame that that couldn't happen with Impossible Princess.

* Although Santa Baby isn't a single, ultimately it's a song included on Kylie Christmas and can count as the highest peaking track from the album.

Let's get to it and impossible princess been her only albums to have follow up singles outreach the lead singles.

X even though 2 hearts peaked higher as the lead wow outsold it.

It’s been on that playlist for years and it’s been achieving 400k plus a day for most of the last year. It also has these weird fluctuations where it reaches 600-800k a day, on Saturday it logged 659k. Incredible and it really boosts her monthly listeners.

I don't think either Can't Stop Writing or 10 Out of 10 were released to radio or got physical releases or major playlist placements. In fact 10 Out of 10 did not even get a video, so I think it makes sense for neither to be counted as proper singles. Maybe 10 Out of 10 could be considered a promotional single, but Can't Stop Writing was only an album track with a (low-budget) video.

'Can't Stop Writing...' was playlisted by Radio 2, by that measure I consider it a single (sadly)
