Posted June 27, 201114 yr Anybody have a definitive list of songs that have peaked between #6-#10 but have managed six or more weeks inside the top ten? It's an impressive achievement for any song, let alone a non top 5 hit. I've thought of these; Beyoncé - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) - 8-{7}-7-8-9-7-8 LeAnn Rimes - How Do I Live - {7}-9-12-17-12-9-9-7-11-12-12-11-9-10 Scouting For Girls - She's So Lovely - 9-10-{7}-9-9-10 XTM - Fly On The Wings Of Love - 9-{8}-12-9-8-9-11-10-8-10 Macy Gray - I Try - 10-10-9-8-7-7-7-{6}-9 Steps - Last Thing On My Mind - {6}-7-9-7-6-9 Chris Brown - Yeah 3X - 10-9-{6}-9-9-8-6 Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars - 10-12-7-7-{6}-8-8-17-16-14-20-23-27-26-9R Lisa Loeb - Stay (I Missed You) - {6}-8-8-8-10-10

June 27, 201114 yr It 'only' had 5 weeks top 10, but this is worthy of a mention: Uniting Nations - Out Of Touch 12-16-13-15-13-7-10-9-8-13-10-13-16-...
June 27, 201114 yr OOH, I FOUND ONE THAT HASN'T BEEN MENTIONED. Journey - Don't Stop Believin' spent 8 weeks in the top 10 with a #6 peak. That's the only one since 2004 that hasn't yet been mentioned AFAICT. Wouldn't know about earlier than that.
June 27, 201114 yr Author It 'only' had 5 weeks top 10, but this is worthy of a mention: Uniting Nations - Out Of Touch 12-16-13-15-13-7-10-9-8-13-10-13-16-... I can think of loads in the '5 weeks in the top 10' category, Untouched by The Veronicas and Inna's Hot are a couple I know without looking them up.
June 27, 201114 yr I can think of loads in the '5 weeks in the top 10' category, Untouched by The Veronicas and Inna's Hot are a couple I know without looking them up. But not many of those managed 13 weeks in the top 20 :P Jay-Z and Linkin Park - Numb / Encore managed 13 weeks top 20 with a peak of #14 though :o 14-18-19-19-18-17-16-17-14-17-18-14-17-... Linkin Park also featured on 'We Made It' by Busta Rhymes which spent 3 weeks top 10 with a peak of #10. I'd imagine these things happen much more often in the USA with their ridiculously stale chart. Edited June 27, 201114 yr by Bré
June 27, 201114 yr The only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Technohead's I Wanna Be A Hippy from 1996, peaking at #6. I imagine the rest must be from the 50s and 60s mostly when the chart was generally slower, but I'm not going to be the sad sap who goes looking for them :kink:

June 28, 201114 yr A Scottish Soldier by Andy Stewart spent 36 weeks in the top 40 with a number 19 peak. White Lines by Grandmaster Flash managed it in 1984 10-9-8-7-7-10-9-10 In fact it stayed in the T100 for virtually the entire year, but only peaked at #7.

Never realised that was such a big hit :o That's got to be close to, if not the, record for most weeks in the top 75/100 before breaking the top 40 for the first time! Crazy chart run :o http://www.chartstats.com/release.php?release=10957 Edited June 28, 201114 yr by Bré

June 29, 201114 yr I know this song made the top 5, but other than the one week when it peaked at number 5, it had a pretty impressive top 10 run: Reel 2 Real feat. The Mad Stuntman - I Like To Move It 9-10-12-12-10-9-7-5-8-7-7-8-10-11-19-30-40-41-58-73

July 1, 201114 yr Author And Mini Viva iirc? :P Didn't Who's That Chick manage 6 weeks, or am I imagining things again? That had 3 weeks top 10. Who's That Chick surprisingly only had 4!
