Guys. Big news.

ALEXA GODDARD is at #103.

I was all excited for a moment that 'Turn My Swag On' was getting lowered to 59p and was going back up :( I'm not a fan of hers, but she did a better version of TMSO than Cher Lloyd (and every other version)

Turn My Swag On (Alexa's version) is still in the top 1000 though! :o

I always think, it's such a shame Keri Hilson's version of the song wasn't on iTunes, because that would definitely have gone to #1 after Cher performed it. It was so popular the weeks afterward. It was incredible.

I hope Cher does a version of Turn My Swag on on her album.

I swear I've found like 10 cover versions of the song by mainstream artists already. People sometimes say, a sign of a song being a classic is if it gets covered a lot. So that bodes well for it.

On the X Factor in a different county a girl also audition Keri Hilson's version of it (which is probably my favourite, a lot of the other versions aren't as pleasant on the ears imo), and she ended up winning in the end I think!

EDIT: Here:

I think Keri should just release it as her next single tbh. Forget everyone elses.

Haha. I reckon she should, but is she allowed to? Like they'll have to do all the legal stuff to put it up for download won't they, like paying Soulja Boy, etc.

I don't think it'd do quite that well now though. The moment's over. But like 8 months ago it was like as popular as What's My Name? it seemed. I mean, even random versions by Greg Street and Alexa Goddard charted, people were so desperate for something vaguely similar (both stalled at #11 on iTunes aswell :().

This version of Turn My Swag On is quite different to most of the others! :o

Don't forget the original (non-Keri) version of TMSO nearly made the top 40 as well. (#48)

I remember hearing the song as the time it was originally released, I never thought it'd be a hit here, let alone three different versions going top 50 (two of those going top 20)

The crazy thing about Alexa Goddard's version was that it was released like a month after Cher performed it I think. It's only promo was really that ONE performance, and then finally a version that vaguely resembled ther Keri/Cher version comes along a month later, and people still bought it. And that version wasn't really promoted well either. I don't really get it, were people going on iTunes every day for a month hoping to see a Keri-esque cover pop up? I think it must've spread through word of mouth.

Considering Alexa got to #11 on iTunes, I think if she had released it a few weeks before it would've got her a top 10 hit.

I thought it was meant to be a 48hr rolling chart?

The Wanted's lead over DJ Fresh has hardly got any bigger over the last 12 hours

So this would to me suggest either;

a) They've hardly sold anything during that period, which would mean come tomorrow a big crash is on the cards.

b ) itunes have got something wrong, somewhere

or c) it's infact not a 48hr rolling chart at all

A month? Try three months :P

I think the general consensus now is that it's a 48-hour rolling chart with some undetermined weightage towards recent sales.

It definitely is a 48 hour chart because when songs are made album only on iTunes they remain in the feed for near enough exactly 48 hours.

why is Alexa Goddard nearly top 100? has she released another cover of a popular song atm?

1. She *is* top 100 now (#100). :P

2. She's featured on the song 'It's Alright' by 'The Biggest Band'. That does nothing to explain how it's top 100 though. She featured on a Wiley song which went top 300 on iTunes a couple of weeks ago also.

I've looked for the Alexa song on youtube, and I can't find it anywhere. :(

And I think she also covered The Pogues at Christmas and it went top 300, but that was when Turn My Swag On was still high up the chart.

It's not an Alexa song. It's by The Biggest Band.

Yeah, it was a duet with Brett Domino. You know, this guy.

Alexa also has covers of 'Dynamite', 'Grenade', 'Whip My Hair' and 'S&M' all up for download :o :o

Edited by danielMFAO

^ Didn't that get in the charts! :o I seem to remember some comedy song like that getting in.

And I searched for both artists, and I still coouldn't find anything. :(

@Eric: you're thinking of 'Gillian McKeith' by Brett Domino, which was basically about her during her stint in I'm a Celeb..., funny at the time, not any more

Alexa Goddard really should record her own music <_< I didn't know all she's done were covers

Ah, thanks.

Well, Alexa has featured on two two non-cover singles (well, I'm not sure what this new song is, but I assume it's not a cover). I think she's just a singer, so she'll need to get instrumentals and lyrics from someone else, which could be difficult, as she's not signed to a proper record label. Although I'm sure there's amateur producers out there who'd love to make instrumentals for her.

On the topic of Alexa Goddard, she has her own YouTube channel, which I believe is how she got popular. That girl can sing - here is her cover of "Someone Like You". It's a very nice cover

EDIT - Here's a comment I found on the page by ManUtdFC05

"Listen up people, Alexa has made a song to help raise money for 'Save The Children'. All the money goes to 'Save The Children' btw. Go to iTunes - iTunes Store and search for 'It's alright alexa goddard' Download it and spread the word. Thanks."

^^ So that's why it's gone into the charts I guess

Edited by danielMFAO

Oh wow. It's a charity song! :o It probably is a cover then? Didn't Travie McCoy have a song called It's Alright? Or maybe they covered Bright Lights, Bigger City and changed the title.

No - it was called "We'll Be Alright" and that was a cover of the Supergrass track "Alright". It flopped in the charts because simply it was bad and has nothing on the original (and 'Billionaire' was still high in the charts when he released WBA) I don't think Radio 1 playlisted WBA, AFAIK.
