So that makes eight hours of auditions, three hours of bootcamp + five hours of judges houses?

The Tuesday airing is a special airing (in place of Glee - same goes for Tuesday 22nd November).

Two part finale on the Wednesday & Thursday straight before Christmas.

Quite a late start really considering ours begins a month earlier. Looking forward to this one much more than the UK!
  • 1 month later...

This will air just a day later than the US in the UK, with the first episode airing on Thursday 22 September at 8pm! :D On ITV2 of course, as we already know!

And there's an extended preview:

Oh that's better, I'll try and watch at UK pace then. A while ago I'm sure I read in the paper that ITV2 were considering not airing it until early next year as they don't want it over-shadowing our own version, so it's very good they've not gone with that. Really, would there have been as much point given results would've been available for all rounds?

So awkward cutting out Cheryl Cole from that preview, like she wasnt even there and they didnt want her on the screen. :o

Are they going to do that when they show all the auditions on the main show I wonder...

I don't see why they would have shown Cheryl Cole in an 8 minute preview. Seeing as though she's not actually in the show she doesn't really represent what the audience can expect to see...

I expect the first show will explain (cover up?) what happened with her.

The first show is meant to tell it as it is - Cheryl is seen during the first hour, with Nicole being in the second hour.

Is anyone else really quite excited for this? I've set a reminder on my TV and I'm not even a huge fan of the UK version.

I'm really excited too, but then I also love the UK version and love Idol too. CAN'T WAIT!
Since Cheryl was axed I couldn't give a flying shit about this. I will watch the launch as Cheryl is supposed to be in the first hour but after that I will be like I am with American Idol and oblivious to what happens.

What's up with Simon's eyes? In fact - what's up with his face?

Hate to say it, but this looks impressive!
Can't wait till Thursday! So glad we get it the day after the US.

Ratings not great, they will have to introduce something to build hype.

Last night's premiere of The X Factor scored an 8.7 overnight metered market household rating. That's 18% better than the premiere of the New Girl on Tuesday Night, but about 39% less than January premiere of American Idol which ultimately scored a 14.2 household rating in the final numbers. It was more than a 100% improvement over the year ago's Hell's Kitchen. So a solid start by pretty much any benchmark other than comparing it to American Idol. Sadly for the Fox PR machine, those comparisons are inevitable. The X Factor wasn't the highest-rated show of the night with the metered market households, ABC's hit Modern Family took the honors with a 9.8 household rating for its one hour episode, which was up versus last year's 30 minute episode by more than 10%. By household rating The X Factor also trailed CBS's Criminal Minds which scored a 8.9 overnight rating.
