I wonder what makes people suddenly buy songs/albums of artists that have just died. Surely if they liked them that much they would have bought them before?

Having said that, I would love to see Back To Black get a new peak.

After an artists' death their songs get played a lot more in tribute, so more people are hearing them and therefore more people will buy them. It might even remind people they love the songs/albums then they realise they don't have it and buy it.

The things that prompt people to suddenly buy certain music baffles me.

I still want to hunt down the people buying Chasing Cars, Sex on Fire and I Gotta Feeling and scream WHY NOW?! at them!

In 2009 I worked on the music counter at Asda and it was INSANE the amount of requests I got for anything Michael Jackson related in the days following his death. We sold out of any back catalogue stuff that we had left in the few hours after news of his death became widespread. It took two further days to get another (huge) delivery in of his music. I just couldn't believe that albums of his that had been out for 20/30 years were suddenly the most in demand thing around and like gold dust. I even recall seeing some of his albums selling for £10-20 on eBay in the immediate days after his death because shops had sold out and waiting to re-stock!
I think it's just one of those things in life really. Not just about mainstream artists, but about a lot of things, you only start to appreciate them when they're gone.
What nonsense, the main story on BBC news is the Norway tradegy and took most of the programme. Amy only took up a couple of minutes. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that's not the way it should be but it's annoying me all the people saying things like this. Also at least people aren't making jokes about the people who died in Norway, a death is a death and Amy should be being treated as the same level of tradegy and respect as the dead in Norway, which she infact isn't. Sorry, but the negative reaction is really p***ing me off. Rest in peace to the musical icon that was Amy Winehouse and also the victims of the awful tradegy in Norway.

What happened in Norway is touching me a lot more than Amy's death.

It's about 100 people who have been murdered in horrible circumstances, 100 innocent victims, and hundreds of relatives who must be in pain now and crying the deaths of their sons, daughters, mothers, fathers and such.

For Amy it's different, of course she had problems and it's not easy to fight drug and alcohol addictions, but the life she's had for the last couple of years was shameful. I guess that's why it doesn't touch me as much. It's sad she couldn't get herself out of it.

But of course I am really sad for Amy too, cause noone deserves to die and I'm terribly gutted she will never get the opportunity to release new music and to get the long lasting career she deserved.

Don't know if anyone has noticed, but there is an advertisement on itunes promoting amy winehouse's musical work.

Although I'm not a big fan, she'll be a big loss to music so rest in peace amy winehouse.

Six-D - Best Damn Night is only 59p! so hopefully it'll do well in the chart this week!

Really hope BTB can go top 10 tomorrow.

I was thinking that David Guetta's new song reminds me of the Saturdays Notorious. The lyrics are identical at times.

JLS straight in at #25.

That'd be why it wasn't in the pre-order chart - it's a (2 track) single, not an EP.

I actually really like 'She Makes Me Wanna' So I don't mind it being #1.

I want this song to do extra better tonight! Because it'll show label's that 99p is horrendous for one new song. -_-

'She Makes Me Wanna' is good and I don't think the mass hatred towards it is deserved :(

JLS @ 12 :drama:

although all their singles are super front-loaded, this should easily get number 1, be interesting to see how it holds up
