Wait, what does Cheryl have to do with it ? Oh yeah, she's in my sig, so everytime I'll be making a comment about a song, you will refer to my sig as a counterpoint ... HOW CLEVER !!!!

And I don't care who's buying Cheryl's records for the simple fact that her singles have been great, while JLS's singles have been awful.

I would've actually said the reverse tbh - her singles have largely been not that catchy and forgettable - and I think thats mainly down to her hollow voice and weak hooks especially in her last era and with the Flood limping in at 18.

JLS just make pop songs - yes they may be generic; but the majority of the singles do have good hooks and have them in you're head - which really is what a pop song should do.

But hey ho - thats opinions for you :)

Agree. It shows how flawed someone's argument is if they have to resort to attacking the artist in someone's signature.

Cheryl's singles have all been far better than JLS'. Her debut FFTL shits all over the cheesiness of BA ("I need love CPR" is cringe). '3 Words' and 'Parachute' are far more credible than the cheesy boyband cliche ballad EIL and the surprisingly decent OS, although the opening verse is also very cheesy.

The singles from Cheryl's second album are also better than those of JLS imo. PT is actually an interesting, vaguely original pop song whereas TCIA is utter shit. Furthermore, as ballads go, 'The Flood' is lyrically and vocally (yes SHOCKING NEWS Cheryl can actually sing) better than 'Love You More', the word "cheese" comes to mind again. That word sums up JLS. :puke:

Their only really good song is 'Kickstart' from their debut album although even that isn't quite memorable considering I can't actually remember its title for sure.

On the topic of JLS, I actually think 'She Makes Me Wanna' is alright. By alright, I mean in the sense that it is catchy and fitting for this time of year - although it does no favours for their careers as vocalists and the addition of Dev adds nothing to the track.

In placement with the other singles, I feel it ranks third - behind 'One Shot' and 'Eyes Wide Shut'; it's irritating that their best songs are always released third and sell less/peak lower.

In this particular occasion that wasn't what happened. Karma simply used Cheryl as another example of an artist who has young girls buying their records, he wasn't having a go at Cheryl.

I love both JLS and Cheryl. She Makes Me Wanna is great imo, probably JLS' third best for me (behind Love You More and One Shot), but actually the only outright awful one of their singles is The Club Is Alive (which would be lucky to scrape 1/10 from me :puke:). My next least fave is Everybody In Love, which is still listenable, I'd give it about 6/10.

What is with BuzzJack where Cheryl always pops up in peoples arguments or she is referred to in a negative way. Can't you all just accept some of us just adore her like half of you obsess over Gaga?

Also the claims JLS have released better quality to Cheryl is just laughable. Oh God I wouldn't know where to begin on that argument.

Agree with all this, except the sig part where I agree with what Lovett said. I do like JLS but they're really not anything new from your usual boyband. Much as I do love my fave JLS songs (LYM, OS and SMMW) all of Cheryl's singles surpass those three. Plus Cheryl is more unique than them, and I am prepared for her to be called generic now. 3 Words was a lot darker than your typical club banger for starters, plus she had the balls to release a proper ballad, not a cheesy boybanc one, rather than the 'safe' club banger with tagged on rapper choice like Yeah Yeah or Everyone.

Wanted are already increasing on Jls!

Amy Whinehouse songs are also starting to decrease a little aswell. You Know I'm no good should drop out top 40 soon.

I actually really like She Makes Me Wanna now despite hating it on first listen, it is very catchy. Really hoping Love Is A Losing Game can make top 40, I don't think it has before.

YKING is still at #34, I'm sure it'll stay top 40 for at least the rest of the day. The songs are actually holding up far better than I expected them to.

Anyway, Adele is still some 2.5% off #10 - this is really starting to p*** me off a bit, go top 10 or properly drop already, don't just stay at #11... :( May well be #11 officially for a third week in a row this week, being the first song since 'Battlefield' in 2009 to have 3 weeks at #11 without going higher and the first since at least 2003 (probably much earlier) to do those 3 weeks consecutively...

Miley Cyrus - The Climb.

Miley Cyrus - See You Again.

Nicki Minaj - Superbass

Adele - Set Fire To The Rain.

42. Amy Whinehouse - Valerie 5.7%

47. Amy Whinehouse - Valerie 5.2% (10.9% combined = 25th)

Stop combining these <_< I've already said they're different songs TWICE in this thread, can you not read?

Anyway, I don't think BTB will drop out of the top 10 before the end of the week but the other songs will definitely drop a lot and she might only end up with one song top 40 on Sunday (but she could have 5 or 6 on the Tuesday mids)

Why do so many people spell Amy's surname 'Whinehouse'?! Surely her name is well known enough for it to at least be spelt right...

I've not been reading the thread though. They will be combined though wouldn't they? BTB might not drop out of the top 10 this week but will no doubt drop out of top 10 on iTunes come Wed-Thursday. Whoever breaks the top 10 (Nicki or Adele) will get a massive boost!

For me it's #9 where a LOT of really good songs seem to peak, especially dance songs.

Dance songs:

Pendulum - Propane Nightmares

The Prodigy - Warrior's Dance

Chase & Status feat. Plan B - End Credits

Chuckie and LMFAO - Let The Bass Kick In Miami Bitch

The Ian Carey Project - Get Shaky

Others:

Plan B - Stay Too Long

The Saturdays - Ego (:P)

Muse - Uprising

P!nk - Sober

Kanye West feat. Chris Martin - Homecoming

Just a few of the really good #9 hits of the past few years. Nero - Guilt nearly joined that list but it got to #8 instead :P

9 is a good number too, especially Sober, Stay Too Long and Ego!

Nicki Minaj - Superbass

Adele - Set Fire To The Rain.

And Battlefield! Plus Girls Aloud - Untouchable :( One of their top 5 tracks ever imo!

That's me.. it's coming up automatically on my phone and to be honest, I couldn't be assed changing all of them!

I've not been reading the thread though. They will be combined though wouldn't they?

No, that's my whole point ! One is 'Amy Winehouse - Valerie'. One is 'Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie'. They have the same vocalist and are the same song but because Ronson is the lead artist on one of them and Amy on the other, they are considered to be different songs by the OCC. They were both in the top 40 in the same week once.

The Amy-only version will be combined to the other Amy-only versions, the Ronson version will be combined to the other Ronson versions. But they'll chart separately.

Edited by Bré

The Amy solo version charted separately in 2007, so it won't be any different now. Valerie might miss top 40 then, as it won't have as many combined sales.
