August 24, 201114 yr Yay for William ! :cheer: Get that top 3 smash :cheer: He may have stood a chance of higher, had his single been released before his album came out. What a strange marketing tactic
August 24, 201114 yr Author I didn't think we get another top 3 new entries this week, hope it stays like that, the top 10 looks fairly recent and fresh. If anyone has any Will Young sales info (singes + album) post away, as I don't have any sales for today.
August 24, 201114 yr Noel Gallagher doing well and the single doing muh better than Beady Eye singles, it will be interesting to see will both their albums sell on par though. Will Young doing well, i knew the album would do ok but didnt think the single would as he is more an album seller now, even though im not a fan of his music im glad Joe McElderry is doing well and he probably has a great chance of selling more of this album than his debut. Likewise good to see Olly Murs still doing well, id say he has the number 1 in the bag now. Hard Fi will probably hold top 10 or end up number 11 but i can see them dropping like a stone next week.
August 24, 201114 yr I wonder when '19' will exit top 10, #8 today. How many weeks has it been top 10 this year? I cant keep up! :o

Looking at the midweek charts again! Looks like Joe Mc will have to settle for No2! He's sold just under 16k and Will Young has sold 32k....Singles chart for today's midweeks! @ollyofficial is still sitting pretty at No1 and has sold over 61k :D Calvin Harris has sold 50k at No2! Joe has also got to pull his socks up as Adele is only 2k behind him at No 3! Edited August 24, 201114 yr by Sunday
August 24, 201114 yr Thats interesting about Joe being 2K ahead of Adele - wasn't it posted yesterday he was 1K?
August 24, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the sales info, that's pretty shocking see Adele's album [21] on 14k, probably stock still recovering from the fire. I should imagine Will is on course for 60k plus, at the end of the week. With the Chilis releasing next week, Will might take a bit of a tumble. On the bright side of things, he has got the #1 album in the bag for this week.
August 24, 201114 yr Wednesday Update Top 40 Only ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albums 1 Will Young (32k) 2 Joe McElderry (16k) 3 Adele [21] (14k) Joe is so gonna be caught! :P
August 24, 201114 yr So '21' could end up being back at #2 :o and big sales for the singles chart, already at 60K and 50K and only wednesday! Nice to see sales on the way up, and should continue with the releases of Example, Ed Sheeran, Leona, Pixie, Saturdays, hopefully James Morrison, One Direction & more new releases! August 24, 201114 yr The thing is Joe apparently increased on Adele yesterday (by 1k) which is more shocking for me, to be honest.
August 24, 201114 yr Nero #1, Jessie J #2, The Vaccines #4, Wretch 32 #4, Clare Maguire #6, James Blake #9, Jamie Woon #15, The Naked and Famous #25, Anna Calvi #40, Mona #40 and Yuck #62 - not bad for the debut albums from the Sound of 2011. You missed out Warpaint #41. Reminds me of when an Agnes album track popped up in the midweeks accidentally one week, Big Blue Wall iirc! I wasn't complaining! You're not the first person to make this comparison... *pokes myself somewhere in the first couple pages* I'd say given the three top 5 singles he's had, Wretch 32 is the only one who has underperformed so far. Tinie Tempah is the only British rapper to ever get a #1 album (and the only other rappers to have one are D12/Eminem and 50 Cent IIRC), top 5 is still a big achievement. -x- Joe actually INCREASING his lead over Adele? Huh. Hopefully Adele can still catch him. Very decent sales for Olly and Calvin, hopefully both can pass 90k (Olly over 100k). 19 currently set to be out of the top 5 for the first time since Valentine's Day week, but in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if it overtook 3 other albums by the end of the week and ended up #5 again. August 24, 201114 yr So could we end up having two songs selling 100k this week? If Calvin doesn't sell 100k this week, I'm sure he'll be over 90k! :D Shame they couldn't have been better songs thought! :kink:

Impressed with his sales with Echoes being released away from the 4th quarter & how poor album sales are at the moment There are so many X factor artists releasing albums in the run up to Xmas. Will be interesting to see which fair well album wise both intially & long term.
August 24, 201114 yr So much about this Will era reminds me of Kylie's Aphrodite last year. Summer release with surprisingly good opening sales for the climate due to strong fanbase, classy, top quality lead single going top 3/5 and both got/will get their first #1 album in almost 10 years! It's a decent release strategy I think, sales might not be as big as they could have been had he released in the winter but there's a lot more attention and hype placed on him as there aren't 100 acts all battling for simultaneous exposure. And his albums always sell consistently over long periods of time anyway so I expect it will still be clocking up sales in the mid-low top 75 even around xmas when they account for as much as a top five album does at the moment.

Impressed with his sales with Echoes being released away from the 4th quarter & how poor album sales are at the moment Will will be extremely lucky to stay top 3 next week, I'm almost certain there will be an all-new top 3 of Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Guetta and Bombay Bicycle Club in that order. We'll see. ;) I know Will's not to your taste but I think you write his appeal off too quickly. And his albums always sell consistently over long periods of time anyway so I expect it will still be clocking up sales in the mid-low top 75 even around xmas when they account for as much as a top five album does at the moment. As long as his second single receives decent airplay (as Jealousy has) I think his album will perform a lot better around Xmas than your predicting. Let It Go certainly did & there's far more buzz around this release.
August 24, 201114 yr Jealousy as sold about 35k according to the person who tweeted the other sales info.
August 24, 201114 yr We'll see. ;) I know Will's not to your taste but I think you write his appeal off too quickly. I don't even dislike Will Young, I just can't see his second week sales being strong enough to stay top 3 next week. He may possibly be #3 with Bombay Bicycle Club at #4 but I can't see the top 2 not being RHCP and David Guetta. I'm not expecting his actual sales to drop off a lot but RHCP and Guetta are going to have massive sales and Bombay Bicycle Club should have good sales as well (at least 50k). August 24, 201114 yr I think you're probably overestimating BBC. As a huge fan I'd love them to sell that much, but I think being ahead of '21' is more realistic and hopefully doable.
