October 4, 201113 yr On first listen, the verses are awful and cheesy. The chorus is alright but obviously not as good as the original and the drum and bass sounds really remove any of the mood the original had. Probably not as bad as I anticipated but still fairly awful.
October 4, 201113 yr #1. I really don't ever want to hear this, as a huge fan of the original (and the band) it's too painful a concept to comprehend.
October 4, 201113 yr These aren't 'gangsta rap' artists though. :P Perhaps not, but they have surely been influenced by them, and rap-haters like myself tend not to draw distinctions between variants anyway. ;)
October 4, 201113 yr Has this been premiered now then? Anybody got a link to listen? It was on Chris Moyles's show this morning.
October 4, 201113 yr Number 1 and then it'll drop like a brick. TBH - like Jay - I don't like the original either. Kath
October 4, 201113 yr This is crap  I like Tulisa's chorus but the rappers sound awful... They're just talking! I'm another non-fan of the original actually, give me Unfinished Sympathy anyday!
October 5, 201113 yr You can listen here (for the next 7 days). Its at 1:59.35 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b015b...a_on_the_phone/
October 5, 201113 yr Have they suddenly lost their ability to rap? It's terrible. Tulisa's hook is the only saving grace from this tbh. Oh and Labrinth's production is brilliant!
October 7, 201113 yr i think a male vocal alongside tulisa would have strengthened it up a lot, she does sound like she is struggling at points..
October 7, 201113 yr Perhaps not, but they have surely been influenced by them, and rap-haters like myself tend not to draw distinctions between variants anyway. ;) So you're using your own ignorance as an excuse? Hello Shelli :)
October 7, 201113 yr I'm just staggered that there's people here saying they don't like the original, for starters.... Teardrop is one of those songs - a track that you must be criminally deaf to dislike. I find this cover version pretty unlistenable - made by a host of poeple who obviously don't 'get' the song in the first place. It's almost sacrilege to cover a song like Teardrop - especially when there's laughably untalented riff raff like NDubz involved. Kind of beggars belief. The otherworldly beauty of Elizabeth Fraser's voice... replaced by...er... Dappy?   I say for get this awful version, pop some money into a charity box somewhere, and go invest in the original and the classic album it's off, Mezzanine..... a masterpiece.

Teardrop is one of those songs - a track that you must be criminally deaf to dislike. opinions are wonderful things aren't they? ^_^ anyway, I'm not feeling this at all atm, the rapping sounds out of place and rather pointless, Tulisa's solo is good, but it's all rather pointless as the original just really didn't need a reworking like this Edited October 7, 201113 yr by C.W
October 7, 201113 yr Well the chorus was nice... http://www.vevo.com/watch/the-collective/t...&position=4 For anyone that wants to see the video.
October 7, 201113 yr I have to say this really seems to be failing to impress anyone. Does anyone actually like it? It's CIN so it'll do well but that's not always a guaranteed no.1. I hope it won't make it anyway.

BuzzJack is not exactly the best place to gauge the popularity of a song by a collective of British rappers. I wonder why Tinie Tempah was not involved with this? Also, where is Dizzee Rascal these days? He seems to have gone awfully quiet since 'Shout'.

I imagine they heard the idea of doing the track and ran a mile due to naffness (although that never stopped Dizzee before)
