Posted August 29, 201114 yr Close chart race between Example and Sheeran 10:51 | Tuesday August 30, 2011 By Paul Williams Source: MW Singles Example and Ed Sheeran are presently separated by just a few hundred sales in the battle to top this coming weekend’s UK singles chart, while Red Hot Chili Peppers are hot favourites to lead albums. Ministry of Sound act Example is aiming to make it two chart-toppers out of two releases, having scored his first ever number one with previous release Changed The Way You Kiss Me. But, according to Official Charts Company Data, the follow-up Stay Awake is only around 700 sales ahead at this stage of the week of fellow brand new release You Need Me I Don’t Need You by Asylum/Atlantic’s Ed Sheeran. Epic/Syco’s Olly Murs with Rizzle Kicks is a further 3,700 sales behind in third place with Heart Skips A Beat, which debuted at number one on last Sunday’s chat. A&M/Octone/Polydor release Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera is ranked fourth, while Columbia’s Calvin Harris, who entered at two on last Sunday’s chart with Feel So Close, is now in fifth place with Feel So Close. Alongside Example and Ed Sheeran’s new singles, there is another brand new release showing up currently in the Top 10 positions at number eight courtesy of Geffen/Polydor’s Cover Drive with Lick Ya Down. Albums The race for number one is a lot more straight forward on the UK artist albums chart with Warner Bros act Red Hot Chili Peppers’ brand new album I’m With You outselling its nearest rival, the RCA-issued Echoes by Will Young, by nearly two copies to one. If, as expected, it remains in charge of the chart by Sunday it will be the US band’s fourth UK chart-topper and their first since their last studio album Stadium Arcadium led the way in May 2006. There were five new entries in last Sunday’s Top 10, led at one by Young’s Echoes, and this week could be the same with five brand new releases presently filling Top 10 positions. Besides the Chili Peppers, Positiva/Virgin’s David Guetta is ranked third with Nothing But The Beat; Island act Bombay Bicycle Club’s third album A Different Kind Of Fix is fifth; Cash Money/Island’s Lil Wayne seventh with Tha Carter 4; and Dolly Parton’s new Columbia-handled Better Day is ninth. If the Parton album does remain in the Top 10 by Sunday it will only be her second UK Top 10 hit following The Very Best Of Dolly Parton reaching number eight in March 2007. Decca artist Hayley Westernra’s pairing with legendary film composer Ennio Morricone, Paradiso, is currently cropping up as a new entry at13, while what has been billed as Glen Campbell’s last-ever album will also chart this week. The Surfdog-issued Ghost On The Canvas is ranked in 15th place. Just outside the Top 20 places in 21st place is EMI Classics’ That’s Entertainment by the John Wilson Orchestra. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Top 40 Only Singles 1 Example {26,100k - 700 ahead of #2} 2 Ed Sheeran {25,384k - 3,700 ahead of #3} 3 Olly Murs/Rizzle Kicks {21,684k} 4 Maroon 5/Christina 5 Calvin Harris Top 10 Cover Drive Top 15 Adele [sFTTR] Sean Kingston Top 30 Florence + The Machine Nicole 23 Aloe Blacc Top 40 Adele [sLY] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albums 1 Red Hot Chili Peppers {24,356} 2 Will Young [Echoes] {12,460} 3 David Guetta {10,695} 4 Adele [21] 5 Bombay Bicycle Club Top 10 Lil Wayne Dolly Parton Top 15 Hayley Westenra Glen Campbell Top 20 16 Beyonce Top 30 The John Wilson Orchestra The Vaccines Top 40 Elbow Will Young [TH] Two Door Cinema Club Foster The People ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ARTIST UPDATES Singles Christina Perri 5+2 Will Young 5+4 Jessie J 10+7 JLS 10+9 Adele [sFTTR] Beyonce 20+4 Nicki Minaj 20+5 Lady GaGa 20+8 Cher Lloyd 20+9 Katy Perry 30+1 Example 30+2 Jay-Z & Kanye West 30+5 Albums Beyonce 10+6 Rihanna 10+8 Lady GaGa 10+9 Katy Perry 20+2 Jessie J 20+4 Caro Emerald 30+3 Chris Brown 30+10

[02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute. [03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away. [04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard. [05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude. [06] Do not use Text Talk. [07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision. [09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures. [10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.
August 30, 201114 yr I predict; 1. RHCP (surely they won't miss?) 2. David Guetta 3. Bombay Bicycle Club 4. Will Young 5. Adele Although 2, 3 and 4 are quite interchangeable. As for the singles; 1. Example 2. Olly Murs 3. Maroon 5/Xtina 4. Ed Sheeran (although he could be higher initially as new releases tend to for some reason) 5. Calvin Harris
August 30, 201114 yr I reckon initially Example/ Ed will be 1 and 2 due to Pre-Orders/ the EP versions. Ed will fall down during the week though behind Olly and Maroon 5
August 30, 201114 yr Author Whoops we do have a new #1 well... new top 2 in the singles chart :D And the Chilis have got a #1 album
August 30, 201114 yr I find it interesting that Bombay Bicycle Club could potentially debut higher than the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Although they've had Reading/Leeds coverage, before the headliners they showed the advert for the RHCP album - so if anything they may experience a greater surge of sales from the festival. As for what I think'll happen, I reckon RHCP will get #1 - followed by David Guetta at #2. Bombay may have a high placing in the first update but fall during the week, possibly to just outside the T5 (permitting Adele and Will Young can hold sales). Ed Sheeran posted on Twitter that there was a pleasant surprise in the midweeks, so I take that to mean Example and Sheeran occupy the #1 and #2 spots - not sure which way round though. I suspect Ed will fall to #3/#4 by Sunday though.
August 30, 201114 yr Update and MW report added :) Example 700 copies ahead of Ed, who is 3,700 ahead of Olly.
August 30, 201114 yr Interesting, hopefully Ed can stay at #2, Example's sadly only going to pull away from this point onwards... Good for Will to stay top two with all of the new releases out, Chilli's at #1 was of course expected, although I get the feeling that this could be their final #1 album...
August 30, 201114 yr Author Kinda freaky all the new albums inisde the top 40 landed on odd positions.
August 30, 201114 yr Slightly disappointed Bombay Bicycle Club are only at #5, although that's always been where I expected them to end up on Sunday, I'd hoped they'd be ahead of Adele currently, still anything above 25k and I'll be delighted.
August 30, 201114 yr 5+1 Joe is holding up really well then. I'm sure many thought he would fall from the top 20
