August 30, 201114 yr May I ask what position adele's 19 is at today? Increased sales to over 20k again last week wonder if it can climb into top5 by end of week again

August 30, 201114 yr Do we expect the top 2 to remain the same? Example surely has the #1 but Ed Sheeran is going to be really interesting. He could land anywhere between #2 and #4.
August 30, 201114 yr Boring and predictable is better than boring and shite, especially when the 'boring and predictable' #1 is one of the best songs of the year. Sorry, for a minute there I forgot your opinion=fact. MLJ is miles better than Stay Awake. Not shite in the slightest.
August 30, 201114 yr Putting the quality of the songs in question aside, why is a song climbing to #1 more exciting or unpredictable than a song debuting there? I mean, look at Someone Like You, Give Me Everything, Party Rock Anthem. Most of the weeks they were #1 were very predictable. Especially Give Me Everything, people were saying it would be #1 for ages before it even entered the top 10. I'd say the Price Tag/Champion/Born This Way chart battle was more unpredictable. All the songs debuted at their peak, but I had now idea what order they'd be in.

Your opinion isn't fact either ;) Especially Give Me Everything, people were saying it would be #1 for ages before it even entered the top 10. Were they? I don't remember that. August 30, 201114 yr Your opinion isn't fact either ;) Were they? I don't remember that. Yes. Given that it entered the top 10 without a music video, and before it got playlisted on Radio 1. Lots of people were saying it'd be a massive #1.
August 30, 201114 yr Great to see movement in both the singles and album chart, hopefully with all the new releases in the charts sales will be decent on both, I hope the chilli peppers can do 100k but its unlikely. Where are Take That and Hard Fi in the album chart? Edited August 30, 201114 yr by Aphrodite
August 30, 201114 yr Yes. Given that it entered the top 10 without a music video, and before it got playlisted on Radio 1. Lots of people were saying it'd be a massive #1. That was after it got top 10 though :P
August 30, 201114 yr That was after it got top 10 though :P Okay yes. But you know, from early on. I think the Maroon 5 song is certainly different, musically from most other #1 contenders in the future. But I don't think it'd be interesting or exciting if it was #1 on iTunes with a 50% lead the entire week. It would be a very predictable #1 if it did that.
August 30, 201114 yr Your opinion isn't fact either ;) Yeah I know that I was just presenting it in a similar fashion to the way you express your opinions.

All the songs debuted at their peak, but I had now idea what order they'd be in. My point wasn't that a climb would be more interesting but more the fact that a month ago, no one would have thought Maroon 5 capable of no.1 whereas people have been predicting an Example no.1 since way before that. MLJ getting no.1 is certainly less predictable than Stay Awake.
August 30, 201114 yr Yeah I know that I was just presenting it in a similar fashion to the way you express your opinions. Then what was the point in saying:  Sorry, for a minute there I forgot your opinion=fact. ? It can be reasonably assumed 90% of things said in a discussion are opinions. I'm not saying it's wrong for people to prefer MLJ to SA, or that it's wrong for people to think MLJ would be a less 'predictable' #1 (which is true). I just disagree. Because if you inserted certain words (in my opinion, I think, etc) you might come across as less condescending. Anyway back on topic, is pumped up kicks in the top 40 at all?
August 30, 201114 yr Author Where are Take That and Hard Fi in the album chart? Take That not top 40, Hard Fi 20+8 is pumped up kicks in the top 40 at all? non mover
August 30, 201114 yr Because if you inserted certain words (in my opinion, I think, etc) you might come across as less condescending. Anyway back on topic, is pumped up kicks in the top 40 at all? Any description of a song as rubbish, brilliant etc. when expressed here is, almost by definition, an opinion.
August 30, 201114 yr Any description of a song as rubbish, brilliant etc. when expressed here is, almost by definition, an opinion. Be that as it may, but my only real objection was that I was quoted and that beneath that I was basically told I was wrong. But suit yourselves.
August 30, 201114 yr Be that as it may, but my only real objection was that I was quoted and that beneath that I was basically told I was wrong. But suit yourselves. At what point in my post did I say anything that even remotely implies you were wrong? If anything I was saying you were right.

That Price Tag/Champion/Born This Way battle was the only really interesting chart battle at the top we''ve had all year. There was that Where Them Girls At?/Party Rock Anthem/Lazy Song battle which looked quite good but by Friday, you knew bruno had it in the bag.
August 30, 201114 yr Boring and predictable is better than boring and shite, especially when the 'boring and predictable' #1 is one of the best songs of the year. This is what I was referring to. How is it saying I'm right? Anyway I'm bowing out of this now anyway. I'm not interested anymore and I don't think anyone else is and I'd rather not annoy everyone and drag it on even further.
