I thought with all this Beyonce exposure 4 would have re-climbed into the top 10.
Wow, Weezy doing so well in the albums! Awesome.

This! I'm really impressed. Since 90% of songs he features on seem to miss the top 40, I thought he wouldn't do very well, but I'm wrong! I can't wait to see his sales figures in the US aswell! They'll be monstrous.

Delighted David Guetta is holding up so well in the album chart, joe mcelderry also holding nicely.

I really hope Take That can scrape back into the top 40 on sunday.

Wonder what the Chilis can shift. Guessing they'll sell a fair bit on Saturday, but even so - 80-85k max?

Way too high, I estimate around 65k to 70k now

At a guess probably 14.5k.

Thanks for that.. pretty good considering the stock situation.. haven't been able to buy a copy in our town this week at all

Tesco may have some for the weekend..

I think the Top 5 will look like this come Sunday:

1 Example

2 Maroon 5/Xtina

3 Edd

4 Olly

5 Calvin

I don't understand the significance of the sums after the albums eg 5+1, 10+8 etc etc.

It indicates where the artist is...

for instance Christina Perri is at 7 (5+2)

I keep expecting to enter the thread finding Lil Wayne out of the T40, but at the looks of it - he's at #7 still. It will mark his only T10 album, I believe it'll be his only T20 album actually - having had his previous album peaked at a disappointing #56.

Also quite shocked to still Ed Sheeran at #2 - the sales of the EP must have been pretty incredible, seeing as it stalled at #4 on iTunes and doesn't look set to improve on the position. I reckon Maroon 5 are sure to overtake to reach a new peak of #2 by Sunday, with the possibility remaining of Olly Murs only falling to #3 - just a shame to think it's the second week in a row where the #1 single is set to fall to #4.

According to someone from the official charts, Joe McElderry's album has been certified gold already, selling over 100K. :o :o

I didn't believe this at first, but BPI has a different way of doing certification with sales to UK retailers. And Joe himself tweeted with excitement after hearing it probably from Universal.

Well done Joe! Great album. :)

Wait, gold is 100k? Isn't that a bit low considering Platinum is 300k?

What do you mean? The album was just released 10 days ago.

Being certified gold doesn't mean that the album has sold 100k, it means that 100,000 copies have been shipped to stores.

It is interesting how this works because it is confusing. But according to BPI, it is "sales to UK retailers", which makes sense why Universal has certified this gold. For record labels, that is what is important, and understand why the BPI certifies it this way because they care about what the label has sold and made money.

It is also interesting to note that Syco haven't attempted to apply for certification for Wide Awake at all. They obviously washed their hands of Joe quite early on! Idiots!
Which is interesting as Wide Awake is only a couple of thousand away from selling GOLD
