Marry The Night is one of the best song/video combos ever for me.

The song is all kinds of elegant, thundering, epic amazingness. Her voice is stunning (as always) and the way it builds to that final chorus makes me weak at the knees. It is literally perfect.

Also, I couldn't imagine any of her peers attempting a song like this. There's a certain kind of maturity in the sound here that's so unlike anything else even she's done before or since.

As for the video, I know some people don't like the introduction, but I do. There's some really striking imagery in there and it builds perfectly to those incredible, crunching synths. Gives me goosebumps. The dance sequence is great, the outfits are gorgeous and it just fits the song down to the ground.

I'm not sure I can come up with any more adjectives to describe how I feel about Marry The Night. It's a f***ing masterpiece.

Agreed!!

This and Edge of Glory is REAL music, Frank Sinatra-level real, mature music, not disposable throwaway hits from her contemporaries. It's art. And these two songs just go unrivalled by her other material and by anythin any other music stars are doin, male and female.

(around) 5 years ago, Gaga released the 5th and final (</3) single from her humongous Born This Way Era. 'Marry The Night', the album's opener was a fan favourite with many willing it to have been even as early as the FIRST single from the album so when it eventually got a release it was met with huge positivity. With the glistening introduction (listen to the instrumental please), the soaring vocals, the pulsating energetic beats, it's such an experience of a song. Grand, euphoric, high-octane it's the perfect Gaga single.

5 years ago, it crept into the top 20 of the UK charts and top 30 of the US. It did decently, but many still moarn the potential hugeness it could've had if released earlier in the campaign. But in a way it ended the era beautifully too, embrace the darkness and dance your inhibitions away. <3

One of her best videos!

Her best video*. Her performance in the first 8 minutes of that video is Oscar worthy.

(until she gives us the videos for Alice & Babylon )

(couldn't find this single thread so I typed "cheerios" into the search function and it came up :gaga:)

But yes, certainly up there as one of her best videos ever !!

Should have been a huge #01 smash.

It's one of the very few songs in existence which is capable of making the hairs on my arms stand up every single time I listen to it.

If this was released as the 2nd 'BTW' single, then this could have easily been a SMASH hit.

Also this is how the era SHOULD have went:

"Born This Way"
"Marry The Night"
"The Edge of Glory"
"Judas"
"ScheiBe"
"You & I" [Limited US release]
"Heavy Metal Lover" [European single]

Agree with this but I'd remove Judas, and still have You & I as a global single! The first 3 singles are a no brainer for me!
