I think a lot of people are actually unaware that Leona has a new single out.

 

I've lost count of the number of people that have said to me personally that they wouldn't have had a clue Leona had a new single out if I hadn't been banging on about it.

It's possible some buyers think the Leona track is a fake, because Avicii's name comes first.

 

May not be aware of the court case and agreement with Ministry of Sound to credit Avicii.

 

 

 

 

Midweeks tomorrow will have Sats at 1 and Pixie at 2 I think. I think Pixie will be at 1 and Sats at 2 come Sunday, though. Don't see why people think Maroon 5 will end up at 1, they've fallen far behind Pixie and The Sats are gaining on them still...

Because not everyone is as "musically aware" as the majority of the people on this website. It's only had about 2 or 3 weeks of any real promotion. To use a similar example, there's a song just outside the top 10 that has sold over a million copies by itself as well as being on an album which tomorrow or Wednesday will pass three million sales, yet enough people are only JUST buying it for less than a dozen songs to currently being bought more.

I think that's the real reason, if the song was great, it would go number 1 without any questions, no matter how big or small her fanbabse is.

 

I'm sure Leona's second single will be far bigger than 'Collide'. After all, it'll have an X-Factor performance and will be the song that is launching the album.

Lots of great songs dont make #1, doesnt mean they're not great because they dont. Also alot of bad songs make #1, doesnt mean they're great for making #1, and ofcourse its all down to personal opinion so someone may think AAT is great for example and another may think its terrible.

I used to watch them, but I don't no more, I just listen to the radio, the music channels is more repetitive you tend to listen to the same track like 12 times a day.

Saying that the trial was 'all over the press and news' is nonsense. I didn't see the trial on the news once and only in small sections in a couple of newspapers.

I'm sorry guys but all I'm hearing is excuses. Leona has a single out, her fans will have known about it and lots of other people will have heard it. Besides I don't get why you're all being so defensive. She's going to chart at no.4 or higher so it's hardly a flop even for Leona.

Clearly that cannot be the case, because whoever is making that point (although I haven't seen anyone say that) would be incredibly stupid as they'd have circumvented their own point by being aware of it themself. D'oh!

 

What some people (myself included) are stating is that A LOT (not ALL) of people are unaware of Leona's release.

Although I do agree with you, that it may just be that of those who are aware of Leona's song, they just don't like it. However, my previous point still stands, and exposure always increases sales.

People on this site are ultimately not in a position to understand what the majority of people who buy music are like or their habits. The majority of people who use this website do so because they're interested in music and will be very musically aware as to what is out, who is doing what and who is in the news. You look at "this weeks music purchases" thread and the vast majority of singles bought (probably about 90%) will be ones released that week. None of this applies the record buying public where about 90% of singles bought will be songs which were released before that week. I knew Leona had a new song out because of discussion on here, I knew it had gone to the courts because of this website and I follow Avicii on Twitter. I spoke to my friend over the weekend who had no idea about any of this, I played him Fade Into Darkness and he said it sounded familiar, however he didn't know what it sounded like or that it was a Leona song he'd heard a couple of times.

Saturdays are performing on Alan Titchmarsh now, not sure it'll do much, but any promo is good promo when it comes to a performance.

 

I havent seen anyone making any exuses, just stating that with the little radio play and only one week TV play which is a fact of how it stands, many people probably havent even heard Collide yet. So as i've always said I'm chuffed its #4 & #5 (EP) on its first week. :dance:
