Yeah it is the same song but I don't think it was plagarism. At first I did think 'god, blatant plagarism' but then as I heard more about it, it became obvious it was a mis-communication issue.

It sounds like they knew they were in the wrong all along and feared that they'd be completely sued or what not in court so resolved it mutually instead. Givng Avicii lead on the track though pretty much confirms there were communiction breakdowns (Leona tweeting that they'd done nothing wrong etc etc etc) which lead to SyCo believing they had the rights to the instrumental or what not. Maybe this was planned all along? It could have well been because if SyCo knew they had a case to fight and believed they were in the right they would have taken it to court - however beacuse they resolved it mutually and gave Aivii lead it makes me wonder whether it was a big publicity stunt. Didn't get them very far though did it (.. so far)!

I really don't think they would want that type of publicity. Also giving Avicii the lead is not good, seeing as it was meant to be the first big comeback single for Leona, why would they want it to be credited to someone else? I doubt Syco would ever want that, even for publicity.

I don't think they would have let Avicii take the lead on Leona's single if SyCo were in the right. They were clearly in the wrong which has damaged this singles reputation.

Avicii doesn't actually take leading credit on the song, it's just the way iTunes has put it. It should be credited as "Leona Lewis / Avicii".

Her label will have set it like that though. iTunes don't program it in for them.

iTunes has been known to do it wrong lots, and lots of times. I'm sure Like a G6 was credited something like "The Cataracs ft. Dev and Far East Movement" for example, when it first came out. We'll just see how the OCC credit it on Sunday.

This. When I did my research about it, and read articles and interviews on it, it seems very likely that it was just a case of Stargate/Syco not asking the correct people and/or giving misleading information. It's quite clear that they DID ask someone for permission to use it (generally, when you steal something, you don't go around telling lots of people, and you try and hide it ).

Also, exercising common sense aswell, I mean, the instrumental was VERY well-known before Leona's song anyway. You'd have to be an idiot to think you can use it in another song and not have someone notice.

Yep, and sometimes some songs were hugely under-performing before fixing the credits! 'Like a G6' case is the most standing out of all of them.

Avicii doesn't actually take leading credit on the song, it's just the way iTunes has put it. It should be credited as "Leona Lewis / Avicii".

Yeah, must just be an iTunes error (or as some people have said, they may always put joint credits in alphabetically) but it is credited as 'Leona Lewis / Avicci' on the other sites ive looked at... and the EP artwork on iTunes even shows 'Leona Lewis / Avicci' :-)

True. Especially when people can only see the first "X" characters of the aritst aswell. They might just see "Collide by Avicii & L" or "Like a G6 by Dev and The Cat" or whatever.

All this said. I don't want Leona to be #1 (I wanted The Saturdays to do it, since it's the song I like the most), but I'm just trying to be rational here.

There's another example of incorrect crediting in our current top 10, with Moves Like Jagger only being credited to Maroon 5.

They used the "/" in the crediting to Higher aswell (Taio Cruz ft. Kylie Minogue / Travie McCoy), but I'm not really sure how that's differenet to an "&". Buy I assume that would make both Leona and Avicii the lead artist.

As others have stated, I don't think that's true. Her label list it as 'Leona Lewis / Avicii' everywhere else, including the artwork. iTunes have just listed the artists alphabetically.

'All Fired Up' is my favourite release this week too, on par with 'Neva Soft'. This new Saturdays song is genuinely good and uplifting, it could be their second best for me after 'Up'.

So far I'd say

Up -> Work -> All Fired Up (but rising!) -> Forever is Over (I really like it! don't get the lack of the praise for it) -> Notorious -> Missing You -> Higher -> Ego - If This is Love -> Issues -> Just Can't Get Enough.

The label inputs the data into iTunes though surely? iTunes don't do it on the labels behalf.. as far as I'm aware

Again, 'Like a G6'. There's NO WAY the label would put the artists alphabetically like iTunes did: (The) Cataracs, Dev & Far East Movement, as everyone related the song firstly to Far East Movement, and they got into the shadows because of The Cataracs & Dev before them. That damaged the first week sales for the song quite a lot.

Also wasn't 'Tonight' put up as DJ Frank, Ludacris, Enrique Iglesias - Tonight

releasing it on a friday didn't help either

I'd like Saturdays to get a number one some time, but not with All Fired Up. It's not special enough compared to songs like Up or Higher.

Hell yes. I was thinking about Enrique but didn't remember the exact song.

Surely the fact The Sats and Maroon 5 are climbing means Pixie is slowing down? Could they maybe start to gain on her now?

Are they climbing? i havent seen updated live pop bars for ages, but i thought the last few updates had them both decreasing in comparison with pixie?
