Good to see Maroon 5 back on top, it's just a shame it won't ever be on the official chart.

I think this has been asked before, sorry if has. I was wondering how many copies does a song have to sell to make the itunes Top 1000? Any guesses?

I estimate it takes at least 350/wk, maybe 400.

Not this week, but what's to stop it next week?

Maroon 5 #1 :o never saw that coming, I thought Pixie had a comfortable lead, she must have started slowing down.

One Direction?

They won't. Don't get your hopes up.

I guess you're right :( Just me being too optimistic again

Will is no. 12 now :)

I guess his rise from 18 last time I looked is due to the better airplay, he's not done any further promotion.

CRAP. Worried for Pixie now.

I wouldn't be, Maroon 5 are too far behind in the mids.

Well The Saturdays were even in front of MLJ today - no doubt that gap will close by Sunday but I highly doubt they'll leapfrog Pixie. I'd like them to though, I like MLJ and AAT about equally but it'd be nice to have a number 1 (even if it only gets a week) hang around a while, AAT will fall pretty fast no doubt.

Thank you, that is more than I was expecting. So a "old" song that is always hanging around the lower region of the chart could be selling over a thousand copies a month. For example "Stay" by Shakespears Sister has not disappeared from the Top 1000 since Cher performed it on XF last year, so its good to know that it could be selling at the very least 1000 copies a month.

One Direction... out of interest do you actually read the iTunes thread?

Has the video to Foo Fighters' 'Arlandria' been released? It's #72 and climbing. Foos have surprised me with their success in general :o There aren't many rock acts these days who can get 2 singles charting after the album's release.

No video yet, it doesn't even have its own Wiki page atm  I love that it's climbing now, amazing song. "Dear Rosemary" would give them a good chance of having four charting singles from the album.

With Maroon 5 now, assuming iTunes is a 48 hour chart that effectively means the speed with which they were selling overtook Pixie around yesterday afternoon. Wednesday midday is basically the middle of the sales week, so if they have a lead over Pixie on Saturday night as big as Pixie's was over them at its peak, that should cancel out her download sales. If they stretch the lead to 40-50%, they're still within reach of stealing the #1 as it'll cancel out her physical sales as well. I'm guessing this will be their last chance given I can't see both One Direction and Dappy's sales decreasing quickly enough (or M5's to stay so high for two more weeks) to give them a chance in two and a half weeks time.

One Direction?

But that's utter, brain-dead, boy-band bullshit.

Oh, I see what you mean...

As opposed to the utter brain-dead girl singer bullshit you're backing for #1?

Allow me to counter by saying that I *have* heard that OD song - and IMO it has even less musical merit than r*p...

Not a very imaginative response - surely you can do better than that?

put your handbags down :P Everyone is allowed their own opinion obviously, but no need to start saying stuff to bait each other into a fight and to provoke responses out of each other, you can say stuff about who you want to be number one and still not have a dig at peoples tastes :)

That comment is quite laughable, couldn't be far from the truth, I mean Pixie's debut album has sold over 1million worldwide and over 825,000 in The United Kingdom, when artists struggle to sell 200,000. Pixie's already had 2 number one singles and has had much more success than Maroon 5.
