I assume iTunes must base its 59p reductions at least partially on recent musical events - a fair few of these artists have just recently released new material and of course 'Try A Little Tenderness' was sampled in 'Otis'.

Evanescence seem to have an unfair advantage in the 59p stakes.

Jolene and Man! I Feel Like A Woman

Cant believe how close #10-#5 is!

Body & Soul still has quite a way to go for top 10, and its slowed down, wonder if it'll still get there.

Wow, MLJ has caught up on 1D a lot. They should reduce it to 59p, for next week. Will Dappy get #1?

I think Dappy will most probably go to #1, but that just depends if OneD can still have a big lead or if Maroon5 get #1 again on Saturday say and then build a lead which would make it difficult for Dappy to catch up, but otherwise Dappy will get #1.

The video has literally been everywhere for at least 5-6 weeks?

Maroon 5 should definitely reduce to 59p, but i doubt they will with how well its already doing.

Why is like EVERYONE missing out 'Loca People' by Sak Noel as a 'big release' in the next few weeks? It's an obvious top 3, maybe even #1?

Next week is Maroon's 5 last chance to get number one imo and I do think they could get it!

01. One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful 100%

02. Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger 73% (The Gap should be around 81% tonight and with the weekend effect coming up Maroon 5 should be number one around Saturday morning)

03. Pixie Lott - All About Tonight 48.2%

04. The Saturdays - All Fired Up 33.6%

05. Olly Murs - Heart Skips A Beat 30.7%

06. Calvin Harris - Feels So Close 29.3%

07. Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts 29.3%

08. Will Young - Jealousy 29%

* Again The Saturdays take a good lead during the day, no doubt by 9pm tonight it will be less than 1% it's happened all week*

I wish Bruno would hurry up with his video for 'Marry You'! Like, SERIOUSLY!

Body & Sould  #13

You and I  #33

Better In Time  #111

So strange to see Maroon 5 at #2 with Wretch & Emeli both #25 & #26, and Maroon 5 were the lowest of the 3 on their first week, and look at it now, strong at #2 and numerous times at iTunes #1 :o

Not strange at all for me - Wretch and Emeli were both front loaded but we all knew Maroon 5 would have longevity and would increase in popularity

I don't see how it was so obvious ... I've always thought it would flop hard, or at least I wouldn't have expected it to become one of the biggest hits of the year.

As soon as MLJ was released we all knew it would be a hit. Even I thought it wouldn't do too well before it came out

All Maroon 5 needed was better support from the commercials which it got after it charted well in it's first week.
To be honest, Maroon 5 need to hope that either Dappy or Sak Noel are seriously frontloaded. I think with the latter it's a missed opportunity, releasing it a couple of weeks ago when everyone was coming off summer holidays would have helped it. Now, I can't see it doing much better than "Barbra Streisand".

I agree with daniel. When the song was #2 on iTunes after having bearly been played on the radio, it was quite clear it would have longevity. It's popularity could only increase. Whereas Heaven had been played excessively for 2 months on most radio stations, so it was obviously going to be frontloaded. So it's not a surprise to me at all.

What was a surprise was how high they debuted on release week. But once I'd got over that, I knew it'd be around for ages. It's been just as big, or even bigger, in most other countries in the world aswell.

I'm pretty sure it must do. A lot of songs that were performed on BGT or X Factor also got price cuts shortly after. And Regulate did aswell. I highly doubt this is all coincidence.

Great to see Will Young back in the iTunes top 10 even if it is down to a price reduction. I think it's quite telling that One Dirction have decreased so much since the beginning on the week and that by tomorrow night Maroon 5 could be back at #1 again.

I'd have expected One Direction to be looking at two weeks at no. 1 but it now looks next week they could suffer up to a 50% week-on-week decrease in sales, if not more. :o

So does that mean Maroon 5 will spend yet ANOTHER week at #2 with Dappy #1 and One Direction slipping to #3 or lower? 'Moves Like Jagger' is proving to be a real "#1 that never was" whilst all these high profile one week wonders come and go at the blink of an eyelid. -_-

'Moves Like Jagger' is very similar to 'The A Team'. Both entered at #3 from very little airplay but the mass fanbase going out and buying the songs in its first week. Whilst 'The A Team' has already spent 11 weeks in the top 10, Maroon 5 are most likely to do the same. Both songs airplay (both radio and TV) increased after they charted meaning more and more people have only become aware of the songs since release. These are the signs of longevity - any songs that's had 6/7 weeks of mass promotion and airplay will grab that #1 smash - and be out of the top 40 within 6-8 weeks. Absolutely shocking in the digital era!!!

Maroon 5 are so unlucky. They've spent 2 weeks at number 2 with Makes Me Wonder, and this week are looking likely to spend a 2nd week at number 2 with Moves Like Jagger
