September 27, 201113 yr I was trying to include the biggest UK/USA hits. I reckon she would have to leave some minor hits off-but I totally forgot about Don't Stop The Music-that HAS to be on her GH album! I hate it when other artists contribute significantly to big hits from other artists and are unable to use that song on their own GH. Imagaine Rihanna not being able to have Love The Way You Lie on her GH album (unless it's the 'part 2' version on Loud)
September 27, 201113 yr There will never be a double album... Pop stars never release one, at least as a regular edition. Kylie and Madonna did :P
September 27, 201113 yr I assue the Christina double album reference was for Back To Basics and not the best of? Rihanna is indeed the obvious choice for having enough material for a best of, it's quite amazing just how many hits she's accumulated when you see them all in a row - especially when you consider she started with Pon De Replay which I considered to be a bit novelty at the time.
September 28, 201113 yr A Rihanna one disc "Best Of" would need to include... Pon De Replay SOS Unfaithful Umbrella (feat. Jay-Z) Don't Stop The Music Take A Bow Disturbia Russian Roulette Rude Boy Only Girl (In The World) What's My Name (feat. Drake) S&M We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) *Second single off sixth album* Love The Way You Lie (Part II feat. Eminem) - I'd prefer to have this version instead of the normal. *3 new songs* That would be perfection.
September 28, 201113 yr I believe a Rihanna greatest hits would include EVERY song she released as a single, whether it was a hit or not. I dunno. I think her label are VERY clever like that. I hope we get some sort of special thing where a DVD of her vids are included!
September 28, 201113 yr Yeah she should definately do a two disc with all her singles aswell as the one disc. That way she'll target casual buyers and major fans. I think she should take a break after this next album then release a GH six months before her seventh studio album. I also think Mariah Carey should release an updated GH. She has loads of hits since her last proper one.
September 28, 201113 yr Author 3 new songs? Surely that's pushing it a bit for including on a GH. I can understand having one on there because it's reasonably fair to assume it could be a hit if it gets released as a single to promote a GH. Some artists can just about get away with putting 2 new songs on a GH (such as P!nk who took both new songs to decent-sized hit status (and they were even two of her biggest hits ever Stateside)). But 3 is just too much unless you're planning to release all 3 as singles and since it's pretty rare for even the first single off a GH to do well, I can't see even someone like Rihanna charting 3 GH singles. Then again, there are Greatest Hits albums by artists who have had one or no hits, so

Any more though and I'd agree. Speaking of P!nk's 3 new tracks, it's a shame we never saw a video for 'Heartbreak Down'. It's one of my favourite P!nk tracks I think :(

September 28, 201113 yr I assue the Christina double album reference was for Back To Basics and not the best of? Yeah, that's what I meant, but probably a bit wrong of me to suggest in the 'who should release a Greatest Hits?' thread. I just thought, popstars do occasionally release double albums. I wouldn't be surprised tbf if Rihanna did eventually release a double GH, purely because she'd have plently of hits behind her in a year or so!
September 28, 201113 yr Heartbreak Down was just an iTunes bonus track according to Wikipedia so I didn't include it. It's on my CD, though I'm not sure if it's on the standard CD or not?
September 28, 201113 yr Double studio album is a different story but for a new pop star a GH on 2cd's is not a great idea, trust me. It will be more expensive and include loads of filler and by filler I mean minor hits that nobody really needs to remember. Rather a cd of hits and a second cd of remixes. It worked with Whitney Houston but she had a hitspan of 15 years and the second cd was completed by remixes. You need to be Michael Jackson scale of superstar, and preferably dead, to sell a double-cd collection. Even Madonna didn't sell her double album (Celebration) but that might have been due to horrible new songs on it which scared people away. So for Madonna even double-cd is useless, the fans need a box of rarities, remixes and unreleased songs. Just my thoughts. EDIT: Kylie did very well with 'Ultimate Kylie' but it covered over 15 years as well. Edited September 28, 201113 yr by SKOB
September 28, 201113 yr BUT on the other hand, if the artist's hot enough anything will sell. Not many would be interested in GH by Dido but everyone would be in line to buy the deluxe edition of Adele's 21. Edited September 28, 201113 yr by SKOB
September 28, 201113 yr I have no original input for this thread. I would definitely snatch up a Rihanna or Beyonce greatest hits. In my opinion, they are the biggest current acts with a discography that warrants one.
September 28, 201113 yr Heartbreak Down was just an iTunes bonus track according to Wikipedia so I didn't include it. Heartbreak Down is mot versions, the US and Canada have it as an itunes track. Whatya Want From Me was on a few versions of it too.

September 29, 201113 yr I assumed "Obsessed" would be in there ahead of the horrible cover she actually made a UK hit, given the former was a US #7. If you went off both her US and UK hits, it would be more like: 1 Vision Of Love 2 Love Takes Time 3 Someday 4 I Don't Wanna Cry 5 Emotions 6 Can't Let Go 7 Make It Happen 8 I'll Be There 9 Dreamlover 10 Hero 11 Without You 12 Anytime You Need A Friend 13 All I Want For Christmas Is You 14 Fantasy 15 One Sweet Day 16 Open Arms 17 Always Be My Baby 18 Honey 19 My All 20 When You Believe 1 I Still Believe 2 Heartbreaker 3 Thank God I Found You 4 Loverboy 6 Through The Rain 7 Boy (I Need You) 8 I Know What You Want (with Busta Rhymes) 9 It's Like That 10 We Belong Together 11 Shake It Off 12 Get Your Number 13 Don't Forget About Us 14 Touch My Body 15 Obsessed 16 I Want To Know What Love Is 17 New song 18 New song 19 Bonus track / remix 20 Bonus track / remix
