They're clearly doing this for the US radio market, I don't follow their airplay charts really, but the track as it is will likely not be getting played by urban radio much, meaning that it's missing a source of promotion. Urban radio doesn't really exist here, and radio networks are organised differently, so it won't matter. The Missy Elliot remix of TGIF did nothing for Katy.

choice fm & radio1xtra are good urban stations but im sure their support wont help that much but maybe if its really hot it can go atleast top 50 on uk itunes?? It needs a music video as well.

Moves Like Jagger is already #1 on US airplay, so it's not like it needs any more spins. But yeah, a rap version wouldn't hurt with its airplay. It's the opposite in the UK. Having rapping in a song hurts airplay, and often the non-rap versions of songs get more airplay. I don't think may urban stations would play Moves Like Jagger with a rap verse, unless they re-worked the beat by taking those synths out, leaving mainly the guitar, and then adding extra drums.

I did see a Mac Miller song in the top 300 once though, so he clearly has some fans here.

Nice to see Moves Like Jagger finally getting its No 1 shot, its sales have demolished many previous No 1s already. I wonder if Radio 1 will now playlist it.

That'll be a no. Start Without You and Hips Don't Lie were non playlisted no.1s. Radio 1 have decided that MLJ is 'uncool' despite the fact that a lot of their target audience will have bought it.

Hmm, I did say in the Sales thread that Maroon 5 seem set for #1 this week but I actually think Sak still has a chance. He's at ~88.4% combined as of when LPB last updated plus the EP is top 5 on iTunes albums. If he does keep increasing through the week he could still get the #1, but probably with fairly underwhelming sales (80k max, which isn't awful I guess).

Iris is at over 95% combined as well. I've always thought that song is really overrated. But under the circumstances THAT FOR iTUNES #1.

It would be nice to see an 'old' song as iTunes number one, it hasn't happened since Killing In The Name  But I'd like to see Loca People at #1, something tells me it'll be there in the first midweeks and then slip to 2 by the end of the week and Maroon 5 claim their first #1 :(

Did anyone predict Moves Like Jagger would be No 1. Does Maroon 5 have a UK fanbase or like me were people more interested in Christinas involvement. The song and video are really good but I thought it would peak Top 10 and drop like a stone.

I've been a fan of them since the first album. The fact that Christina is there is a bonus. I don't think there's much of a fanbase though. I never predicted it would do so well and I'm really happy it has. Even if they don't ever get to no.1, at least it'll sell more and be better remembered than some of the dross that beat it :yahoo: Although Iris can have no.1 if it wants because it's a fantastic song.

Before it was released, I thought it was going to debut at #30 or something and then climb really high like Poker Face or Airplanes. The most surprising thing about it for me was it debuting at #3.

Debut at 30 Eric_Blob your predictions are usually better than that. :P

Iris will start to drop come mid week. Capital are playing Moves like Jagger constantly, what a shame that they could not fit in even 1 promotional appearance in the UK.

But of course the XF boost is very short-lived - just look at Cannonball last week...

I know, but I'd rather Iris be #1 even if only for about a day than Maroon 5 being there all week  Anyway, if it does somehow get to #1 (which it almost certainly won't), there's a small chance it could stay ahead with the #1 effect (although you probably don't think that exists knowing you )

Album version of 'I Won't Let You Go' in the top 100 now :D Hopefully it can get a second week in the top 5 this week. Really great to see it holding up, I thought it'd fall quickly like You Make It Real did but it could actually be a decently long-lived hit.

92. Promises - Nero

Looks like this will only have one more week in the top 100 then :o :(

I am so surprised but happy at how well All About Tonight is holding up. Everyone expected The Saturdays and Leona to outlast it but they're at #19 and #23 respectively while Pixie should get 5 weeks in the top 10, possibly more.

I didn't expect Leona and The Sats to outlast it! I thought it was fairly clear from the start AAT would be by far the biggest of the three and was extremely surprised All Fired Up was ahead at first.

Pixie's other two top 10 hits/#1s (as all her top 10s are #1s ) both only managed four weeks top 10 so All About Tonight could easily be her longest top 10 runner and it has a good chance of being her highest seller as well, it only needs to do about 250k max doesn't it?

Well, everyone except the eternally wise Bré! ;)

I think Cry Me Out sold a bit less than 300k, but I think All About Tonight can manage that. I think it's got 5 weeks top 10 for sure and after that I'm not sure because I haven't seen the release schedule. It should last longer than Boys And Girls/Mama Do in the top 40 too.

Ah, last I heard Cry Me Out and Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) (and maybe Boys And Girls as well?) were all just above the 200k mark, but I can't remember how far into CMO's run this was so ~300k could be right. AAT could definitely still beat that, I think it could sell 400k in the long run.

And I'm most certainly not 'eternally wise' when it comes to chart predictions  I get them wrong more than anyone else! You're thinking of gooddelta who always expects the unexpected.

On a completely unrelated note that no one cares about, the single version of Example's 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' has eclipsed the album version again after having completely vanished from the top 100 a few weeks ago (they're currently #88 and #91 respectively). Does anyone have any idea why this happens? It's happened with a few other songs as well where one version inexplicably overtakes another version. 'Where Them Girls At' single version also re-overtook the album version for no discernible reason last week.

This is sooooo random but I was watching the first episode of Glee and was wondering... did 'Don't Stop Believin' by them ever get to number 1 on iTunes??

Yay for Sak Noel still making progress with his top version :D There's a bit of a gap to Dappy though.

Iris is up to ~94.8% with its top version and ~6.7% with its second, meaning it's actually #1 combined without factoring in versions outside the top 100 for Maroon 5/Sak Noel's EP sales + outside top 100 versions :o (Sak is up to ~95.8% of Maroon 5 combined as well :D Chances of #1 are looking ever better as long as it doesn't start falling)
