Janet Devlin - I Can't Help Falling In Love With You

 

There's a poster on Buzzjack called HiVickers. How apt!!! I don't think I'll ever find Janet interesting as a singer. I definitely wouldn't like to listen to an album of Janet Devlin. I'd say the same about Diana Vickers - one odd song is ok but not an albums worth. 6/10

OMG! This girls is a superstar. Lovely song choice. So different from the UB40 version. Loved every single word. :heart:

Janet - Liked this performance a bit better than last week. I know she's has a lot more to give though. I don't agree that she's not capable of versatility either. 8/10

Janet: Not quite as amazing as last week but another very strong performance by her. Don't want to be starting any more arguments so I'll leave it at that.

That was OK. It does remind me of Rebecca's performances last year a bit, and she sung that well, and sweetly, but there was nothing special about it. Doesn't particularly help that I'm not a huge fan of the song.

01 Janet - Probably her weakest performance yet for me - but still my favourite performance so far. I just love how delicate every song she sings feels, really smooth and soft and lovely. Anyway, enough of me gushing. 8/10

02 Sami - Sat here with such a smile on my face, sure it's a bit copycat and karaoke, but the bottom line is - she can sing it, and she can hit the notes. There's people like Janet and Sophie with quirky voices, it's refreshing to see a normal voice, who can just.. sing. 7.5/10

03 Craig - A lot weaker than last week - only the last 45 seconds did him any justice. The first verse was pretty flat, but once he gets going, he is quite good. 7/10

04 Nu Vibe - Whoever thought, let's have them sing with minimal instrumental at the start, was a good idea. It wasn't, it highlighted their flaws. You can tell they're five solo singers. Weak. 5/10

 

Janet - Nice smooth performance, she sung it reasonably well. I don't think I would hate her voice as much if she didn't hiccup and have really annoying phrasing. However, I see no star quality or charisma, just a sweet girl who can sing well in a baby voiced way. - 6.5/10.0

Janet started quite strongly and actually sang the notes without cracking but then went back to her usual shit by the time the chorus came around and started singing like she had a jar of honey trapped in her windpipe. Tonight's show needs a major kick up the arse.

I'm sure there's likely to be that week when Janet wins me over but all I hear at the moment is Ellie Goulding and Diana Vickers merged into one voice. I don't find it unique, interesting or different to say someone like Craig who does have quite a distinct vocal range.

Give it time! Maybe she'll actually excel at the uptempo week. All is possible! It is possible to get excited by a singer like Janet - she's very sort of fragile in her performances and it's endearing to some people! Nice, interesting voice too. She's very captivating,

Frankie ruining Coldplay. He really has no variety in his drone.

Frankie is just... awful.

Frankie Cocozza - The Scientist

 

Of the boys category, Frankie is again the one who I find the most overhyped yet most underwhelming. Sadly I do think Frankie will be around for a few weeks but like Janet Devlin, there's nothing remarkable or outstanding about this lad. 3/10

 

I've just had a terrible thought; a final consisting of Janet Vs Frankie. Make it stop!!! :cry:

True, but I just can't imagine myself buying music by Craig, whereas I adore both Diana Vickers and Ellie Goulding, for my sins! He's a great singer but like Joe, I feel like he'd be better in musical theatre or something, he's very dramatic and emotive in the way he sings, would make a great actor.
