His album will do fine. His second single is out before Christmas isn't it? He'll surely get another performance slot.

WAHHHH! #2 opening for Steps is amazing, I expected it to debut 50 places lower when it was first announced and NEVER envisaged that they'd keep up their 100% strike rate of top five albums with it :o

pretty sure evanescence will lose the race for the #1 album this week... still can't believe steps are challenging for #1?? thought no one would care about them.

I have mine on too :( Though I'm quite sure he will not do as badly as the 'struggling to make 100k overall' total the doom mongers are predicting. I'm still quite optimistic that he can do say 70k first week? I know that seems crazy based on the struggle the single is having but I think he has a lot of fans who will be 'waiting for the album', plus I'm sure I saw a tweet a while back before we got to hear any of the tracks in the summer, who posted how good the songs were and that 'pre orders' for the album were good from an industry/journo type but I might well be making that up in my head and the album will indeed also flop on it's arse.

 

Really hope not though for his sake :(

I just hope their sales won't trail off though, I've noticed lately with new albums falling a bit after a day or 2. I think they could still go to #1 with their TV show and the performance on Friday which would be a final push for the album. Honestly I didn't think they be in contention for a #1 album, there seems to be a demand for them.

Wow I really thought Matt would be higher, especially after his X Factor performance... and what's with Lady Gaga suddenly shooting up the charts? You And I's not gonna flop after all!

All of Gaga's songs were 59p on iTunes but they've recently been taken off 59p and are all falling fairly rapidly again. Yoü And I was also performed on Jonathan Ross. It's still a massive underperformance by her standards if YAI misses the top 20 which I think it still could as it's now down to #22 on iTunes. I hope it misses the top 20 to be honest, it's by far her worst single to date.

Where the hell could you buy Evanescence on Friday?

 

 

My bad. They were both released at the same time however I still think Steps will make it. Top 3 is still amazing for a cheesy band of the 90's in today's chart.

I REALLY hope Evanescence hold up and bloody Steps don't come close, but I reckon this will end up 3 a'la YM@6 :( in other news, amazing to see Fix You in the top 30 :wub: I think this actually could stay top 40 for sunday (I probably wouldn't be there to listen to it but still :P )

Quite disappointed with Matt's debut so cannot really be shocked by his chart position. See him more as an album seller

Evanescence are seriously poor in general, so I'd probably agree with you if I could be bothered to even listen to it. :D

 

Ed Sheeran has re-overtaken Adele on iTunes - I know that's hardly the best indicator but since sales are so low/close, I wouldn't actually rule out Ed being back at #1 this week. It could go to any of the top 4 really (but I think Adele is most likely).

 

I wonder what the reason for its boost is? It can't be Lego House giving it this much of a boost already surely?

I strongly disagree that it's melody-free, songs like 'My Heart is Broken' and 'The Change' are as aethemic as you get in that genre.

 

It is a heavier album than any they have released so far though, more riff-orientated with a metal drumming style throughout. I personally think that's a good thing and I'd say it's their best album yet, but those who aren't fans of metal - even in it's lightest form, which the Evanescence album is - may think differently.

And that probably adds more weight to the argument that his album will sell lots. He's going to be an album artist, that seems obvious from his type of music and fanbase demographic.
