Was there really any point in adding Charlene Soraia?

They'll be adding Moves Like Jagger next  Seriously, they do play it quite a lot now.

Was there really any point in adding Charlene Soraia?

It's not as if it has heavy airplay from elsewhere (being absent from the top 50 airplay chart this week), and it's the kind of song which appeals to Radio 1's supposed "target audience", so yes. Hopefully Beyoncé will be moved up to the A-List next week in time for her "release date", and I'm pleased to see Snow Patrol still being supported - although I wouldn't be surprised if this single fails to make the top 20 after 'Called Out in the Dark''s under performance :(

Boring playlist this week. Pleased to see Lego House and Danza Kuduro on the A-List (a FOREIGN LANGUAGE SONG on the A-List?! REALLY surprised at how supportive R1 are being of DK but really pleased and fingers crossed it can get to #1, although I wouldn't mind Cher getting there instead as I do really like 'With Ur Love' as well) but that's about it.

C-List new additions:

  • Charlene's version of WYWG is okay but nothing special. I didn't realise R1 had 'snubbed' it until now (although considering it pretty much came out of nowhere R1 could hardly be expected to jump on it much earlier).
  • I have no intention of listening to 'Gotta Be You' as it'll no doubt be just as God-awful as its predecessor.
  • Not interested in new RHCP stuff although 'The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie' was okay.
  • 'Anticipate' is incredibly poor by Skream's standards.
  • Need to hear the new Snow Patrol single, if it's anything like COITD I am VERY interested, as COITD is my favourite single of theirs by a long way.
  • 'Teardrop' could have been far worse, I actually quite like it and am rooting for it to be my birthday #1 since its competition is 1D :puke: It'll be interesting to see if it progresses any further than the C-List, charity singles usually don't.
  • 'My Heart Takes Over' was meh on first listen but has grown on me a lot. Still disappointing after All Fired Up but they were obviously going to release a fairly damp ballad to lead off the album and serve as a winter single.

Surprised to see JLS and Tinchy stalling on the C-List this week. I'm sure both will still get to the A-List in time though.

'Underperformance'? It did a lot better than I expected, although maybe I just have very low expectations  It's not exactly an obvious hit, it's slightly more 2011 sounding than most of their other output but still pretty far removed from the successful 2011 sound. They're doing fine and 'Fallen Empires' should be another reasonably big album for them, hopefully a #1.

Radio 1 will always support Snow Patrol anyway, they A-Listed all 4 releases from 'A Hundred Million Suns' even though only TBTC actually reached the top 40.

fairly boring week, I do hope One Direction manage to beat the Collective (now THERE is a sentence I never thought I'd utter :o )

 Agreed. Not keen on Gotta Be You but it's better than WMYB (and indeed Teardrop!)

Not alot interesting this week. New Chili Peppers track is good, but I doubt it will do anything in the charts. I'm surprised they haven't included the new Nickelback track this week :o
Yay for Pixie being A-listed even if it was predictable. Florence holding on is also good. Otherwise really boring week.
If Delilah's out, does this mean she'll start properly falling on iTunes, or is it getting good play elsewhere?
Can't wait to hear the new Snow Patrol as Bré said. Willy Moon is a dead duck tbh, the video of that song was released about 2 months ago to no fanfare, and I'm not convinced 50s revivalism meets dubstep is the sound of 2012.
