Rihanna - Disturbia
Beautiful, I don't mind it but jesus christ, how overrated can a song get? Disturbia is the best one there by quite some way!
Paparazzi. Although I wouldn't mind Disturbia going. It just a rip-off of one of Lady Gaga's songs anyway tbh.
Hot N Cold. It really isn't anything special and probably took 2 seconds to write.
Pure Shores. Have been voting for it like 15 rounds so far, hopefully it will fall sometime soon.

how can it rip off a song which came out after it?

however I'll be voting 'paparazzi' too.

Okay. To start with, anybody who is going to get annoyed by me claiming Rihanna rips off Lady Gaga, DON'T READ THIS POST, it's not directed at you.

dum-dum-ba-dee-ba-ba-dee-dum-dum = ra ra ra-a-ah roma roma-mah ga ga oh la la

The singing in the choruses are almost the same. They sing really high-pitched, especially at the beginning

Rihanna is trying to be like Lady Gaga in the music video.

The prison scene is copied from Telephone.

The scene where she falls into that crowd of men is copied from Love Game.

The scene where she's in the bath is copied from Bad Romance.

The scene with the men dancing is copied from Alejandro.

Her hairstyle is copied from Paparazzi.

The instrumental of the verses and the chorus of Disturbia also rips off Bad Romance:

For example, compare 0:18-0:28 of Disturbia to 0:32-0:41 of Bad Romance.

And compare 0:48-1:18 of Disturbia to 1:13-1:28 of Bad Romance.

Disturbia is a total rip-off.

But how can Disturbia be a rip off when it came out a year earlier?

Nah. I was just joking (although, yes, I'm aware, it probably wasn't funny to anyone).

I don't think either song copied either song really (although the bits I highlighted in the instrumental are almost identical, but you could probably do comparisons like that with any two popular dance pop songs from the past 5 years tbh, they're seriously all so similar :().

Although I can imagine if Rihanna released Disturbia now, Lady Gaga fans would be saying things like what I just said.

Im so pleased you werent serious. The whole "________ copied Lady Gaga" debate always annoys me. Lady Gaga is far from original.

It's such a shame what's happened with all that tbh.

I'm not one to care about music videos to be honest, but Rihanna is SO lucky she released the Disturbia video just before Lady Gaga started getting really popular tbh. After seeing how some other artists have suffered due to the behaviour of Lady Gaga's fans (see: Ke$ha, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, etc.), Rihanna would've been absolutely CRUCIFIED if that video came out in 2010 or 2011. She's lucky. She's never going to be able to make a music video like that ever again.

Why not ?

Gagas videos are hardly great these days. Gaga will just steal another idea from the 60s/70s/80s and say its her own original idea.

Why not? Because if she released that music video now, Lady Gaga's fans (and her fanbase is HUGE) would go on, and on, and on, and on about it. So much that it's not worth pop artists making videos like that anymore. If you notice, pop artists are making their videos deliberately as realistic and normal as possible now. Whilst in the late 00's they kind of just did whatever they felt suited the song.

You just wouldn't see music videos like Fergalicious by Fergie, or The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani anymore, because everybody knows they'd get thousands of people complaining like "Oh, Gwen Stefani and Akon get in a car and escape from the prison. They're copying Lady Gaga and Beyonce!! Let's all refuse to buy Gwen's album. Whoo!" or "Nelly Furtado covers her eye. She thinks she's Lady Gaga. She sucks. So unoriginal". Like back in 2008, Madonna was able to freely crawl in her music video to 4 Minutes, and not receive any criticism, but if she did that in a music video now, there'll be all these news articles and videos on Youtube, and trending topics on Twitter, and all sorts being like "Madonna is a copycat".

Lady Gaga's got such a massive and devoted fanbase, that it'll probably be this way for a long time yet.

That said, I don't actually think Lady Gaga copies the artists from past decades either (or at least, not any more than the other pop artists do).
