Wow. Cher there again. Surprising. Definitely gone by tomorrow though. Hopefully she manages to stick to number 2. I think she will, just.

great to see song of the year hanging on inside the top 40 after it's initial boost back inside 5 weeks ago! :D go on 'Super Bass'. Drop it to 59p, iTunes :P Very pleased for Kelly's album for not taking too much of a tumble.. Although Matt Cardle has overtaken her since yday

What position is Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain"? It says it's Top 20 but not the actual position....
Cher will drop rapidly by saturday. Second 2mo, 3rd on Friday and maybe lower if her itunes sales do not pick up

Maroon 5 still holding onto the top 5? They're now all the way down to number eight on iTunes and will be #9 soon, surely they'll lose their top 5 position by the weekend? Fingers crossed this is their last week top 10.

Surprised as per to see Cher still #1. It's a shame for her now she'll have a second #1 on Radio 1's midweek chart, if it had dropped to #2 today she may have never know she was at one point heading for #1.

BOO at Birdy being top 40. It better not outpeak the original version (#27)

MSP and Rizzle Kicks have both already dropped below Michael Bublé (and Alfie Boe - who the hell is he anyway?) That's not good going. We won't have 2 British rap albums in the top 5 then but it must still be rare to have 2 in the top 10. I hope MSP can stay the fourth highest new entry.

Bieber climbing from yesterday? :puke: :puke: :puke:

UK Midweek chart update: Florence widens gap ahead of Coldplay

11:20 | Wednesday November 2, 2011

Source: MW

By Charlotte Otter

Florence + The Machine’s second album Ceremonials is streaking ahead of Coldplay in the midweek charts – with the record now more than 17,000 units ahead of Mylo Xyloto.

Sales of Chris Martin et al’s fourth album are down 76% week on week in the listings, having debuted at number one last Sunday.

Virgin’s Professor Green remains in third place with a good 5,000 units separating it from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – last week’s second highest charting album – now in fourth place.

Elsewhere within the OCC top 10 bestselling albums of the week, and Alfie Boe and the Manic Street Preachers best of – National Treasures, battle it out – with less than 500 sales separating the two in sixth and seventh place respectively.

Meanwhile, Cher Lloyd looks set to enjoy her second number one single as With UR Love - featuring Mike Posner continues to move ahead of last week’s chart topper – Professor Green feat. Emelie Sandé’s Read All About It.

Lloyd’s track is the only new single entering the top 10 this week, with Lucenzo & Qwote’s Danza Kuduro sitting pretty at number 12.

The full top 40 albums and singles for today can be found on Radio 1 mid update for all requests.

If I've got my maths right, Coldplay must have closed the percentage gap unless Florence + The Machine sold less than ~6.2k yesterday.

38k + 6.2k = 44.2k

Coldplay 17k behind = 27.2k

Then Coldplay would still be 61.5% of Florence + The Machine, like they were in yesterday's update. If F+TM sold any more then you have to add that onto Coldplay as well which makes them close the gap (so say F+TM sold 6.3k instead, they'd be on 44.3k and Coldplay on 27.3k, which puts Coldplay at 61.6%).

 I'm sure you're the only person bothered by this either way. I'm still amazed they've racked up as many weeks top 10 as most of their previous songs stayed top 40!

Good to see Matt climbing from yesterday. Once again, not too sharp a drop.

There are plenty of things about which I'm the only person bothered either way. Doesn't stop me from being bothered about them. :D

Thanks Tom. :D

Megadeth are ahead of Metallica in the albums?! :o

I know it's more a Lou Reed album with a Metallica backing band, but still, that's a great effort by MegaDave if it stays that way. When was the last time Megadeth charted ahead of Metallica in albums?

I hope Suedehead makes sure to include some stuff about the history between Metallica and Megadeth in their chart commentary :)

What position is Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain"? It says it's Top 20 but not the actual position....

20 - 1, currently wedged in between Rizzle Kicks at 10 + 8 and Sean Paul / Alexis Jordan at 10 + 10.

Good to see Steps climbed 3 spots from yesterdays position! hoping it climbs a little more or at least stays where it is by sunday, they should be able to pass 100k within the next week or two.
Really happy with steps and matt cardle improving on their positions in todays update, lets hope it continues.

I'm pretty certain an artist gets told if they're #1 in the initial Tuesday midweeks anyway.

Update in, Cher's reign is over :kink: Give me a min to update.
