Are you not even capable of stepping back for a minute and viewing the performance subjectively then?

*objectively. He's viewing it subjectively at the moment by declaring it to be amazing by default!

Liam what was so bad about Gary's Under the Bridge comments?

I think it was just my burning hatred for him, I watched it back again and they weren't actually that bad. I still think he ripped into her a bit, because it wasn't that bad.

I actually thought Janet doing Under The Bridge was pretty good... probably the only one though.

I quite enjoyed it too, it was better than Marcus' Lately, her Mmmbop (obviously) and probably a bit better than Amelia's SUBG.

I went out and got drunk last night so before I view this show, I decided to read this thread. It seems this show will be the highlight of the series.

Well Misha was the stand out last night. Definitely her best since week 1. No doubt she'll be bottom 2 tonight.

Janet was horrendous. MMMBop is a favourite of mine and anyone who thought it was good needs to purchase a pair of ears. Under The Bridge was better but the stupid Vickers/Goulding thing kept creeping in. She should go tonight but I don't think she will. Kelly needs to stop calling her mama as well.

My vote deffo went to Amelia - she smashed both songs last night. :yahoo:

It's rare I agree with Louie but I did tonight about Amelia - Gary was right about China In Your Hand - she was better than the original

I think Marcus or Misha B should go this week but fear it will be Janet

Here it is just for you Kelly who doesn't know China In Your Hand which didn't chart in the US

I'm pretty sure the only thing she smashed were the collective eardrums of a nation.

Fine, I'm happy to be deluded! I enjoyed Mmm Bop and that's that! :cheer:

Agree with you fully. :)

I think Misha will be bottom 2 (sadly), and I think Marcus will be in trouble...

Janet has been herself, that's true. It's a pity her true self is so VILE.

how does one come to a conclusion like that? What has she done that makes her a vile human being? No one is born vile and it takes quite a few vile deeds to be actually described as such. Has she been microwaving babies to death? Has she been investing pensioners savings in dodgy foreign investments? What has she done?

I reckon Janet only entered XF because her parents made her because thay were fed up of seeing her miserable bum face and listening to that awful screeching all day. 'I'm not a Christmas person, I'm not into pop music, I won't wear dresses, blah, blah, blah' who would want to live with that all year round?

I don't think she's vile. There's something unlikeable about her. Her awkward way of speaking and drawling certain words in songs. The fact she couldn't sing 'Falling in love with you' properly grated on me a little is an example of this. The fact she seems to be caught in some fan-girl faze of wanting to be Ellie Goulding and Florence Welch's love child. Her boring personality. The way they try to pass her off as 'different' and 'quirky', when all I see is a sub-par Diana Vickers (when considering how awful the original is, is a worthy achievement) but with ginger hair and a lack of reliance on creepy hand movements.

These things make her unlikeable on the screen and tbh I don't think she has done anything that makes her appear as the 'ready made popstar' Louis Walsh seems to want the public to see. As much as Misha B gets hate for her antics etc, she looks like a popstar to me. Her first performance last night from the vocals, to her presence and how she worked the crowd is something you'd expect to be seeing at an actual concert from an artist, not 'MmmBop!'.

my verdict:

Little Mix - 5/10 - I thought this was a bit of a mess tbh and it didn't help that they picked the musical equivalent of being hit by a brick as one of their songs, I just didn't think they went well together

Janet - 4/10 - OH DEAR! well, its clearly too late for her to have a 'moment' so looks like they're getting rid of her altogether now - so I am backing her to win :D

Misha - 8/10 - I thought this was good, certainly the best she's done in a while

Marcus - 7/10 - again, I thought it was good, and the song suited him - but its all getting a bit samey now

Amelia - 7/10 - hardly 'OMG AMAZING' as I got from on here, way too shouty at points, but a pretty good performance from her, exceedingly disappointing first round

Little Mix - 6/10 - better, but not great - their vocals weren't strong enough to tackle those notes and they didn't gel as a group as much, quite a disappointing night for them

Janet - 7/10 - a lot better, quite good overall but a bit too shouty on the chorus

Misha - 7/10 - a bit bland and copycat at points, but a good song choice

Marcus - 8/10 - I thought this was very good, nice to see him do something different

Amelia - 7/10 - strangely, I actually preferred that to the first performance  she never seems very comfortable doing uptempo though, a bit of a one trick pony (yeah, I'm not a big fan :P )

so I guess:

Marcus - 15/20

Misha - 15/20 :o

Amelia - 14/20

Little Mix - 11/20

Janet - 11/20

I reckon Misha & Little Mix could be a likely bottom 2, although Janet could well come 4th finishing comfortably ahead of 5th and still be out on her arse :P IF she avoids the bottom 2 though, she could well be a contender to win

I may sound biased, but I do think she is actually better than what the show is portraying her as and would be better with some good song choices (she should really do Uninvited by Alanis Morrisette, that would suit her excellently)

She just can't sing very well and has a voice similar to Diana Vickers'. She also is a fake hipster wannabe. Did I mention she has an Irish vote?

The combination is definitely worse than microwaving babies to death on BuzzJack.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't really understand the criticism. I can maybe understand Since U Been Gone criticism, but China In Your Hands was stunningly belted out, but tender when it needed to be, in my view.

Last night Misha and Amelia smashed both of their performances. Marcus did well but I wasn't as impressed as the judges were. Little Mix we're good, but again not amazing. Janet was a mess.

If there's any justice Janet will be a goner today.

I agree with this. She's awkward and watching her is uncomfortable and while she's probably a really nice person there's nothing to draw people to her as far as I can see.

China In Your Hands was indeed good but the tender vocal parts were much, much more enjoyable than the horrid belting. She really does not have a handle on the fine line between belting and shouting and overall the performance didn't hang together because of the vocal extremes.

Since U Been Gone was as painful as Mmmbop.

Probably.

Agreed that Since U Been Gone was poor. I disagree that she doesn't do the belting well but I think that may be down to personal taste in voices. Most belters have their fans and their detractors. I found China in Your Hand to be captivating and perfectly judged. I dont understand how she didn't do justice to Since U Been Gone.

At this stage poor vocal habits should have been ironed out, I think the acts are not to blame. Yvie Burnett was a proper vocal coach who managed to sort out the worst offenders not sure why she was given the boot.

I think Marcus could be in trouble and hopefully MMM Bop MMM whats the next word Janet will be off.

after reading this thread I think I reminded myself why I left this site a while back, because it's full of f***ing nazis. it's like, if you have a view that's different to the popular members then you're just going to get shit for it. what the f*** is this, fox news?! -_-

it's not even about being a fan of janet, because if most of you actually enjoyed her good performances ('fix you' and 'kiss me') and admit to it then that's totally fair, but no. you're all as 'delusional' as I am, and you know what? I'm f***ing PROUD of it. okay? janet was bad with her 'mmmbop' performance, yes. but any sane person beforehand would have told her that it wasn't going to work and she would have chosen something else. but as you're all judgemental twats I'd assume you're going to hold her to that forever. the whole judging her after saying one thing about her music taste is just completely pathetic as well, you don't know her.

that's my rant over and done with, and now I'm just going to fade into the background because it's probably f***ing better that way.
