Specifically the last 6-weeker was The Black Eyed Peas' Where Is The Love? all the way back in 2003 :P But the last to do at least 6 was Leona's Bleeding Love (7) in 2007.

All three songs have 'Love' as the last word of the title - freaky.

I hope she does it. I'm still not sick of the song, in fact I'm playing it more now than 6 weeks ago. Odd as its so repetitive and I really should be.

am I the only pesron who is sick of Rihanna releasing and pushing constantly for a year then dropping ANOTHER album? Just go away Rihanna, you are overloading us. Instead of releasing 3 albums in 2 years, go away and actually write your own material for a year to prove what an artist you really are. dick.

100% agree!

She's not doing any harm to anyone releasing like this, it's not her fault she's popular... She has the talent to pull off the songs anyway, who cares if she doesn't write them? Britney, Madonna and Michael Jackson didn't write all their tracks, does it matter?

Rihanna should not write her own songs imo. It's better if she has other people write them. I don't think she's that good at song-writing anyway.

And even if she did write her own songs, you can still release an album a year. Song-writing is much easier than people think. Even people like Adele sometimes write some of their songs in just a few minutes.

Most of the artists in the chart write their own lyrics, so it's nice to have a few artists that don't.

Rihanna doesn't need to "prove" she's an artist, because nobody thinks she's an artist. People just like her songs.

No it doesn't not to me anyway. When I'm listening to music, I'm doing just that. I'm not sitting there there thinking "Oh this would be so much better if Rihanna wrote it herself" If people write their own songs good for them but sometimes it blown out of proportion. You only have to add a line to get a co-writing credit.

I highly doubt it would go down particularly well, songwriting may be 'easy' but that doesn't usually involve writing good songs.

I do see your point, but when she's this popular she's hardly gonna stop, she and her label are just doing literally EVERYTHING right atm  its only wise to milk it while it lasts

Writing songs is important to some artists, and does indeed add credibility, but if you want songs to sell big, its not hugely vital that its written yourself

Sorry i am new here, But there is talk of Rihanna being platinum already on twitter, If you have twitter search "Rihanna Platinum" and Kevin Hughes from Capital FM claims its platinum
Although I like Rihanna I am begining to get sick of her. This bubble will burst quickly if keeps on releasing every single year

She's not going to sell 300,000 this week. However, that doesn't mean 300,000 copies haven't been sent to the shops.

IMO, I love her, but I want her to take a break for her health! She should release her next new album in 2013. She can still feature on other folks records to keep her voice out there..we need it e.g. Take Care!!

Tbh though, it's likely we will get Talk That Talk: Again ...with 3 new tracks lol or GH next yr with a few new tracks too!

I don't get this? she is more likely to have the bubble burst if she stop releasing music. It has been 4 years now since she released hit after hit, if people were going to tire of her it would have happened now. The fact that she is looking like doubling her opening sales of her last album shows she is in total demand, why on earth would you walk away and stop releasing when that is the case.

Alanis morissette basically killed her career by taking forever to released supposed former infatuation junkie, not only that but doing what many others have said in this thread making a follow up album of songs she wrote too personally and not connecting with people like jagged did.

Because HSAB only sold 900 CD's.

Really? Blimey, you can understand why they're not bothering then, and this new single is more of a promo for the album anyway. Thanks for that.

It matters to me a lot of the time. I find myself enjoying, but never connecting, with songs that Rihanna and Katy release. But I can connect with Gaga's music on so many levels, because it is so personal to her, and I feel her emotion through the music.

Not sure about Britney, but a big majority of both Madonna & Michael Jackson's songs were penned by them.

It does matter, however, if you write your songs, because you will be getting higher royalties... and of course you are becoming more credible as an artist, not like a singer.
