Posted November 27, 201113 yr From BBC: His death was confirmed in a statement by the Football Association of Wales. The statement said: "We extend our sympathies and condolences to the family. We ask that everyone respects the family's privacy at this very sad time." Speed took over the Wales job in February, and earlier this month, said the side's rapid improvement had exceeded all expectations. :( so shocked. He was 42, incredibly sad loss.
November 27, 201113 yr Completely stunned! Condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.
November 27, 201113 yr It's absolutely shocking, completely devastated! :( Apparently found hanging in his bedroom.
November 27, 201113 yr R.I.P Gary Speed I feel quite numb and shocked now. Edited November 27, 201113 yr by ukchartstatsfan
November 27, 201113 yr Absoltely devestated. 42 years old. Suicide or not, nothing has been confirmed yet. One of the EPLs greatest ver players and he had such a promising career as a manager. Heart goes out to his wife and two children. R.I.P
November 27, 201113 yr Actually in shock at this news Puts everything into perspective. We may think football is everything, but it really isn't R.I.P Gary
November 27, 201113 yr I was buzzing for the Liverpool-Man City game earlier, but this just puts everything in to perspective. Apparently Craig Bellamy has asked to be left out of the squad for todays game. Very understandable if true. I guess in the coming days people are going to question why he commited suicide, but if it's depression then you can't tell whether someone suffers from depression by their physical actions. It's so much more deeper than that.
November 27, 201113 yr Saw this on Goals On Sunday at the end, I thought he must've resigns as a manager, and just left football. Completely just.. stunned at his death, like you say, he looked perfectly fine yesterday on Football Focus, it just came really out of the blue (though, if it is suicide, it generally does come quite out of the blue).
November 27, 201113 yr I echo the thoughts of everyone on here ... was watching the Football League Show on Sky Plus earlier today. Stopped it just to check out the BBC Interactive page and stunned at the news. Couldn't bear to watch the rest of the show or interested in watching the Liverpool-City match. As has been said in some posts, such tragic news puts everything onto perspective. Rest in peace, Gary Speed.
November 27, 201113 yr Very tragic news, saw this as a Facebook status earlier and checked the news sites to see if this was true. R.I.P. Gary Speed.
December 3, 201113 yr It seems that Gareth Bale had a bright idea today. Rather than revealing a slogan on a t-shirt after scoring and risking a yellow card, he had a dedication to Gary Speed on his boot and showed that to the crowd instead  How long before FIFA make that a yellow card offence as well?
