I am sure Damien Rice isn't complaining about the royalties? People take such offence at covers - bizarre.
I was prodominantly a Marcus fan - but didn't mind LM winning...

However much preferred Marcus' arrangement for the winners song - I dont like the LM version of Cannonball,

The Damien Rice version outclasses both - the song should never have been touched by the XF IMO

You can say that about every indie /rock song to ever be on a pop contest. Indie-Rock to Pop rarely ever works because of the different tones of the lyrics. It just seems out of place.

The thing that annoys me is that the original didnt do as well and yet when its on the xfactor a million people dload the kareoke version - people just dont like music as much as me i guess!!

 99. Heavy Cross - Gossip  SCD as well?

It's featured on perfume advert that was broadcast (not for the first time) during The X Factor final.

1 Coldplay - Paradise 1.0000 1.0000

2 Leona Lewis - Hurt 0.5775 0.8083

WOWWWWWWWWW!!!

I love you coldplay so much!

The original will forever be considered the original (and by music snobs) superior. COvers are just covers - they don't pretend to be original, they are just a version of another song. There really are worse things in this world to have hang ups over then someone covering a song.

If people prefer/like a cover, then that is down to their own taste and not anything to rant over

Fantastic, hopefully they'll increase to selling at least twice Leona :cheer:

Is the Little Mix single on iTunes yet? It's already available to download on Play.com
I'm still so chuffed at Leona being so high as #2. And to finally see Coldplay at #1 with Paradise after so long is amazing! :D So so pleased!
All Saints hit #1 with their cover of Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under The Bridge" and that's rarely considered superior to the original.

I didnt rant at all, just gave my opinion.of course people can download whatever version but the majority of people who watch xfactor probably dont even know who did the original...this is the reason why Rage got to no1 in 2009, people were sick to the death of the masses downloading an xfactor winners cover and the musical 'snobs' had their moment.

No one is expecting Little Mix's version of Cannonball to be more remembered or deemed superior in the future - it's just annoying Little Mix will sell more actual copies. I'm sure Damien doesn't mind though, he'll have a nice paycheck for Christmas :D

(And I actually like Little Mix's version a lot, assuming the recorded version is the same as the live version but, er, recorded).

Little Minx will probably go straight in at no1 when its released to itunes.
