About Akon, I like most of his songs, and he's really popular with most people. Songs like Smack That and I Wanna Love You were MASSIVE for a REASON.

Most people barely remember him anymore.

It's a good point actually. Both Slade and Wizzard had already had two #1 singles each in 1973 before Christmas came around, so they were both on the crest of a wave. As a 7-year old at the time, I can tell you one thing which may have been a factor; Roy Wood (of Wizzard) frightened the life out of me! There was something really creepy about his massive hair, massive beard and big glasses, which meant you couldn't see any of his face. He was like Father Christmas after an explosion in a paint factory. Slade seemed much more fun...

Definately the best xmas chart battle of all time!!

I think it was 1981, thats when they made a comeback of sorts and got another few top 10 hits!

I'm sure the Slade performance on the music channels is from 1983 if it's the one where everyone's swaying Slade banners. Don't know what show it's taken from. Christmas 1983 saw Slade's "My Oh My" spend 3 weeks at number 2 while "Merry Xmas Everybody" re-entered and spent the same 3 weeks at No.20. On one occasion they were on TOTP's performing "My Oh My" one week then "Merry Xmas Everybody" the next!

Most people barely remember him anymore.

He's talking about most 17 year olds that use the word "man" three times in a sentence.

Great to see Kelly out of the top 10. What a terrible song/OTF rip-off. What A Feeling and this should swap chart runs imo
When his catalogue includes the tragic horrors that are I Wanna F*** You and Sorry Blame It On Me, Just Dance (which is just 'good' to me) is absolutely sensational in comparison!

Dont forget 'I just had sex' with Lonely Island!!!!

 So true!

Gone off this a lot I'm afraid, the production is actually quite weak, and the fact that Amelia totally outsang her last night on X Factor says it all really.

Down For Whatever is AWFUL. Kelly Rowland has really fallen off. :(

About Drake, I don't know if it's true, but I read that The Motto is only his 3rd US single, and that his 3rd UK single will be Take Care.

Rihanna did a mistake by releasing the dreadful 'You da one' as 2nd single.... she should've gone for 'Where have you been' , 'Roc me out', or even the title track... Hope it flops so she'll learn not to release more generic R&B tracks...

You Da One isn't doing very well. :( Not many people seem to like it, although I do.

Where Have You Been is extremely overrated. It's not going to be a million-seller like some people think. It'll sell like 500,000 max if promoted (which is by no means bad, but still). And I don't get how everybody wants her to release a generic dance song, but hates on her for releasing a generic urban song?

Talk That Talk is my favourite track I think. Stargate should just become hip hop producers tbh. They make such good beats like that and Black and Yellow.
