Love on Top should have been her first single, it´s a mainstream song that sounds really classic.

Having always divided opinion with her controversial private life while ultimately possessing one of the greatest voices of her generation, Amy Winehouse's life came to a tragic end in the summer of 2011. Lioness: Hidden Treasures is an album that features previously unreleased material from the late singer, including a duet with rapper Nas on "Like Smoke" and a touching cover of Ruby & the Romantics' 1963 hit single "Our Day Will Come"- HMV

Nothing's Real But Love

An X Factor finalist with a smoky neo-soul voice, Rebecca Ferguson began working on her major-label debut in early 2011, mere weeks after becoming the show’s 2010 runner-up. Released later that year, the record sketches out a soulful sound similar to Duffy and Corrine Bailey Ray. Ferguson puts her own stamp on the music by co-writing every track, including the lead single “Nothing’s Real But Love.” Most X Factor finalists load their debut albums with cover songs and schmaltzy ballads; Ferguson, an established songwriter as well as a singer, proves there are other avenues worth exploring. - HMV

Featuring Brighton rap duo Rizzle Kicks and upbeat numbers “Dance with Me Tonight” and “Just Smile”, Murs’ second offering sees a diverse range of music that engages influences of 50’s rock n’ roll alongside emotive ballads that twist into sing-a-long pop gems.

Turning Tables (Live)

'21' is the second album from singer-songwriter Adele, and like her first record, 2008's '19', it is named after the age Adele was when she wrote the album. Most of '21' was produced by Rick Rubin, who has worked with some of the biggest acts of the last 20 years, and Florence & The Machine producer Paul Epworth. Lyrically the album reflects Adele's increased maturity since '19', although it explores many of the same themes.

Paradise

Coldplay began working on Mylo Xyloto in 2009, while the band was still in the midst of its multi-year tour in support of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Recording sessions stretched from 2009 to 2011, with Brian Eno collaborating with the band on several songs and R&B singer Rihanna lending her vocals to “Princes of China.” Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson all shared production credits, too, resulting in a diverse album inspired by industrial rock and electro-pop. Coldplay began debuting the new tracks as early as May 2011, with “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” kicking off a string of anthemic singles.

Grenade

Bruno Mars has already taken the UK by storm since releasing his debut single in September - he has headlined a sold out London show and supported friend and singer Travie McCoy on a string of UK and European dates. As well as this, his debut single 'Just The Way You Are' went straight to Number 1 in the UK charts and has now sold over 600,000 since its release and so far is the second highest selling single of the year – a feat that is hard to come by these days for new artists. All three singles combined, including the No. 1 smash hit 'Nothin on You' with B.o.B and 'Billionaire' with Travie McCoy have not only marked Bruno as a credible and versatile up-and-coming artist but have totalled over 1.3 million sales to date!

Having spent the past few years writing and co-writing songs for the likes of Flo Rida, Travie McCoy, Sugababes, Alexandra Burke and B.o.B, Bruno is now stepping out as an artist in his own right and if the success of Just The Way You Are is anything to go by...this Hawaiian native, now based in L.A, is set to take on the world. - HMV

I still think Bruno Mars is sooo overrated as a singer...

I think he's underrated if anything - especially on here.

People call him bland, untalented and cheesy when, if you think about it, he's the closest thing to a male Adele.

I still stand by my previous claim that he has got a soul-packed voice...and it shows in 'It Will Rain'.

At least Coldplay went up one place following Graham Norton. Hoping (but not expecting) Kate and Nickelback are top 40 so I can post this weeks competition results early!

Did Wizzard not only come in at no4 in 1973 though?Slade were no1 for 4 weeks and sold a million copies?

Yes, and I have no idea how Slade performed SO much better comparatively in 1973 when both are held in almost identical regard these days, so in my mind it was robbed - particularly now having learnt that Gary Glitter and The New Seekers were ahead of it :puke: I guess Slade's profile at the time really helped to boost their song, they were pretty much the only act at the time big enough to regularly debut at #1.

Still, there have been far bigger chart injustices than this over the years so I can't complain too much...at least it has 'classic status'.

They stayed at 8.

It's my favourite Christmas.

Interestingly, that music video has been the inspiration for 1000s of YouTube videos.

Think this peaked top 5 in 1974/75..which year?

Marry the Night's chart run has started off better then Poker Face's!! :o

I think Bruno Mars is very talented, I just don't like most of his songs.

wow! Coldplay don´t move from the 8th spot! that should mean a lot of sales in mid-december! I hope they reach the million

Slade didn't sell a million in the original chart run. It eventually went past the million mark by selling at least some copies every Christmas.

I still stand by my previous claim that he has got a soul-packed voice...and it shows in 'It Will Rain'.

I never said he's not talented but he was way overrated with his number 1 singles. How could he be underrated anyway with a shortly 1 mio selling album and single?

Just The Way You Are was just a copy of Doesn't Mean Anything by Alicia Keys with different lyrics, Grenade was OK, Never understood why The Lazy Song was such a big hit, Marry You was annoying (for me) and It Will Rain does nothing to me.

Last Christmas I pretended to be straight and the very next day, I was gay.

How did no-one guess in the 80s?!

Did you not watch the video to this...hes dying for Ridgleys woman

Expect to see Michael Buble, Coldplay, One Direction and JLS all top ten next week after X-Factor. Probably Westlife as well.

(I hope Olly sticks around)

Marry the Night's chart run has started off better then Poker Face's!! :o

Does that mean anything  Poker Face was a slow climber whereas this got a big boost from an X Factor performance then hung around a while. It won't go T10 let alone #1
