I hope Mariah drops out of the offical top 10 by the end of the week now. It's only #7 today so if sales are anywhere near as close as they were last week it could drop out :D

The Pogues now have a good shot at being the highest placed Christmas song at the end of the year (i.e. next week) but they might not actually outpeak Mariah - even if she miraculously fails to climb this week she's already banked a #12 peak which I don't think The Pogues will beat.

Looks like T-Pain will almost certainly end up peaking at #6 then - what was the last iTunes #1 that never even went official top 5? Must have been before downloads really took off surely :o

Lloyd could still challenge for first #1 of 2012, I thought he was out of the race when he was on the verge of dropping out of the top 10 before but I guess that was just it being hit hard by its first weekend effect. Fingers crossed for Coldplay to get that honour though :P Although if it does manage it I doubt it'll sell anywhere near as much to get to #1 then as it will to get #2 this week, it'd just be because there are no big January releases in 2012. I wouldn't be surprised if sales were low enough (at the top of the chart) in the week after Christmas for We Found Love to go back to #1 with its gift card boost to be honest

:( I wish this would pick up a bit, Flux Pavilion got to #56 earlier this year with 'Bass Cannon' so I hope this can at least match that...

Might go top 40 on iTunes?

Hello random metal song joining the top 100 out of nowhere due to fanbase sales :P One of my friends at school is a massive fan of this band.

The Edge of Glory got to #1 on iTunes and also peaked (and debuted) at #6.

But #6 is the lowest I've ever seen a song that's #1 on iTunes get to. That sort of thing might happen more often with iTunes's share of the market decreasing.

Oh yes, forgot about The Edge Of Glory. Still a pretty rare occurrence though. I don't think T-Pain's apparent underperformance on the official chart is anything to do with iTunes' decreasing market share, it wasn't even top 40 on the biggest sales day of the week and didn't reach #1 until Wednesday, then it was knocked off #1 again before the end of the week having never been that far ahead really especially when factoring in the multiple versions of Olly, Lloyd and Rihanna (plus XFF's physical sales keeping them ahead even though they weren't even top 10 on the download chart).

I can't see Rihanna climbing back to #1  but at this stage I can see either Coldplay and/or Lloyd getting to #1 in early January. There isn't anything looking at the schedule that screams #1 at all, Taio may do well but don't think he will make it (though I think Hangover would have) and January looks kinda dead (of course a song could come out of the blue and shoot up or I may be underestimating something?).

It would actually be horrible for Leona to get to #2 on iTunes but fail to make the top 10 officially. :(

I'm sure she'll make the top 10! :o Although that did happen to Drake a few weeks ago (except he got to #3), so who knows? :o

Drake wasnt ever top 10 in the mid weeks tho was he (When he got #3 on itunes)? Leona is #3 in todays midweeks and still #3 on itunes & also she has RVP tomorrow.

Furious that they deleted Jessie J's 'Who You Are' again - it'll most likely cause her to drop 20+ places this week - and never rebound.

Let's hope :D

There's no way Leona will drop out of the top 10 officially, I think she has a decent chance of holding onto #3 if her Royal Variety performance gives her a boost.

That's right. He was released on a Monday, and Monday releases always climb up the mid-weeks, and opposed to Sunday releases which usually fall.

I'm sure Leona will make the top 10. Not only was Drake's song released on a Monday, but its promotion basically consisted of "ft. Rihanna, samples The xx". Leona is probably not going to get much radio airplay either this week, but she had TV performances at least.

It samples a remix of a song by Gil Scott-Heron which was done by one of the members of The xx actually :P

So glad this is finally beginning to climb :D Hopefully it'll see some success next month.

Ohh good god, this is going to #1 no question about it, I wouldn't be surprised if come next week it comes straight in at #2 and climbs to #1.

Still at least it's a worthy cause.

What does that mean?

Does anyone know how to stop iTunes from reopening after you close it? I sometimes have to close iTunes about 15 times before it stays closed. Really f***ing annoying
