Is Military Wives a campaign? There IS a campaign page for it on Facebook but it only has about 20,000 members and that's not at all representative of the public interest behind the song, it would be unfair to say that it got to #1 off the basis of a campaign if it did so next week. Whereas the Nirvana song is obviously a campaign aimed directly at derailing X Factor.

It seems to me that if Military Wives do get the #1 then it will be the first song getting to #1 in normal circumstances since Band Aid 20 in 2004, although obviously it's for a cause and so was that, so the last song with absolutely no ties or external interest to get the xmas #1 was Mad World in 2003. Still, it would be nice to see a xmas #1 alternative to the X Factor winner which got there purely off the back of the interest in the song itself.

I'd argue that. I'd say since Olly Murs this year. :P

i'm surprised the xfactor people are leaving two weeks before xmas n.1 this year, giving contenders more chances to beat them next week.

Is it totally accepted that the xmas n.1 is next week and not this?

Where's Wishing on a star please? It looks like no one is worried about that big drop.

Xmas #1 is next week.

the poor sales were inevitable for Little Mix, this series has generally been a downward spiral on all other series and the final was over 3 million down on last year, I reckon around 360-400k for the end of the week

30k for Coldplay in a day :D if this goes over 100k will this be their highest sales week for a single...ever?

Is Metallica's "Beyond Magnetic" EP showing up anywhere? Wouldn't be too surprising if not seeing as they released it at a days notice without telling anyone other than their immediate fanbase...

I asked this in the sales thread :kink: Yellow's first week is still their biggest one-week sales to date. Gezza told me it sold 'over 50k' - not the most accurate figure ever given but I assume it can't have been much higher than that, so Paradise should comfortably top that this week and hopefully come close(ish) to doubling it :D

Hopefully all the little mix fans will buy it this week so its not christmas number one.
has Jai from BGT released his album this week? do we know where it's charting so far?

#53. It's in the MW report.

Little Mix's physicals should start showing up tomorrow. We had some arrive today with the rest following tomorrow. Haven't flown out but selling for a comfortable #1, maybe it will pick up tomorrow when more people expect it on the shelf

Glad to see Mariah sticking at #7 for now. Just hope it can remain Top 10 by Sunday, fingers crossed!
Oh, Matt's clawing his way back into the top 40 - I guess he must be really close to 200k after this week?
What position is James Morrison album at please?

20+9 :)

Surely if Cowell wanted Little mix to be Xmas #1 he should have released the download this week and the physical next week, thereby prolonging sales as I'm sure many would buy the dl just to get it and then the cd as well. I'm sure it would make #1 this week on downloads alone?
