December 15, 201114 yr AIWFCIY was #2 in 1994? What do you mean? But her album 'Merry Christmas' peaked at #32 and never re-entered. It's a bit stupid to compare an album to a single. (And in any case, surely it'd be 'nu Pogues' anyway even if you were to do that, seeing as The Pogues have re-charted higher than Mariah every year of the download era except this year so far?) December 15, 201114 yr Olly's taken down Leona, up to 3. I don't see what the point of Leona performing on XF was, promotion of a covers EP is just a waste. Someone else could have used it to better effect, she's obviously sold about 5 copies of it. Just look at Coldplay's boost. Even with her performance on the royal variety show, she's still getting nowhere with it.

Yes you really haven't mentioned about a million times how much you dislike Mariah <_>

What an odd viewpoint you have.

December 15, 201114 yr That post had NOTHING to do with my personal opinion on Mariah  Your previous ones did though.
December 15, 201114 yr I doubt Coldplay sold more on Tue+Wed than they did on Sun+Mon somehow. I think it means they've doubled their sales from this point last week (which as I said in my post doesn't sound that good). Mariah never went near #1 once, let alone more than once  That does make more sense. Which will probably put them around the 55k mark as the performance factor wanes. But still 80k more than a song out for months is not great at all.
December 15, 201114 yr But the post that you quoted didn't? Yes, mis-quoted  Can see why you were confused.....!
December 15, 201114 yr Does MW mean Coldplay is selling 'more than double' the total of last week's sales or the sales at this point last week? It's useful to know to have an estimate of Little Mix sales, adding 80k to that

It's useful to know to have an estimate of Little Mix sales, adding 80k to that i expected Little Mix to sell less than previous winners... the viewer of this season have decreased 3'5 millions... and they are releasing the winners singer in the week before Xmas week, when the sales are pretty low than Xmas week (it's going to be interesting to see how much they sell next week... usually the sales decreased in the second week of releasing... but i reckon it could be near to the amount they're going to sell at the end of this week...)... and, of course, a song that doesn't suit them at all. I reckon they're, right now, around 160000 downloads and 70000 physical... an i count with a solid increasing on friday and Saturday... My bet is around 340000-360000... Not bad at all, more if we bear in mind the factors against i have wrote before... I doubt matt would have sold the amount of singles they sold if he would have released the single a week before.. About coldplay... they have sold not only digital in the fist half of the week... they have phisics on sale too... Little mix only had digital... Edited December 15, 201114 yr by gisnow21

I don't think people care if it's released this week or next week... the same amount of people will buy it if they're interested, being released a week before other years is insignificant.
December 15, 201114 yr I don't think people care if it's released this week or next week... the same amount of people will buy it if they're interested, being released a week before other years is insignificant. I suspect it's rather about it being bought as stocking filler, in that respect you can look at sales over two weeks whereas the whole demand for the winning single (in this respect) in normally condensed into one week (also the increased "hype" around the Xmas No 1 and the attention that gets in the press. Either way you look a the Xmas chart as being the finishing point then it helps the clarify "this notion". :)
December 15, 201114 yr MW's wording of Paradise 'more than doubling its sales from last week' doesn't seem that encouraging considering it was barely top 10 at this point last week and only sold 32k with a massive boost at the end of the week :drama: Saying 'more than double' implies it's not much more than double. Great to see an actual figure for MX anyway, definitely has a six-figure sale in the bag - Rebecca went from 95k on Friday to 128k overall, Coldplay should easily sell 9k+ today I'd think which will put them equal to or higher than Rebecca, so maybe 130k+ for the week is achievable? :D YES at Mariah out of the top 10 and The Pogues right on her tail :cheer: The Pogues are now ahead combined on iTunes so they should definitely re-overtake. Should have a decent shot at finishing the week with a climb too if it's up 2 from yesterday :D It'd be great for it to get at least #11 this week or next so it beats Mariah's peak. Mama Do The Hump top 30 :D It might go top 10 on iTunes by the end of the week at the rate it's going so hopefully it can manage a top 20 debut this week (well, a top 20 top 40 debut :kink:) Great to see Drake's album back in the top 40 today. I wonder what's causing the resurgence? I see the festive emoticons were added at some point during my absence yesterday :D I think he has announced a UK arena tour, that may have played a bit of a park
December 15, 201114 yr The performance certainly did the job - she would be nowhere near the top 10 without it. What an odd viewpoint you have. How is my viewpoint odd? She should have performed a single from her new album, original material that would have sold better and also promoted/sold her album. I know she wouldn't have got in the top 10 otherwise but the release as a whole was a wasted opportunity. I highly doubt that 'Hurt' is #4 in the midweeks singles chart, having sold just 5 copies? I know. LOON ALERT. Are you two for real? It was a figure of speech. You know, not meant litererally? Wow. Accusing people of being a loon isn't very admin like for a popular site like this, especially when it's for something most people would pick up on, and you're calling MY viewpoint odd...

Matt had to contend with appalling weather though with many supplies not reaching shops. He had a good second week though as well. Quite liking the new Rizzle Kicks song. Hope it climbs.

Isn't 'Admin-like'?! I have an opinion as much as the next person. I still do not understand your point AT ALL about Leona - clearly the performance was a success as the song will (most probably) be top 10 this week
