1Xtra will play anything Dr. Dre does, except I'm pretty sure nobody who listens to that station actually legally downloads (songs they playlist on Radio 1Xtra sometimes don't even grace the top 1000 on iTunes!).

My brother listens to 1Xtra and he legally downloads :o (I know he's an exception but oh well )

Seems Christmas songs are suffering again - as expected. James Morrison taking another fall too - wish it'd just make it's mind up, I want to see it in the top 40 come Sunday, but multiple versions of Ed Sheeran, LMFAO, Adele, Jessie J etc. are all making it less and less likely.

Well, I do aswell.

I know there are some exceptions to EVERY generalization.

Surprised to see James Morrison so high. Jessie J will probably have 3 songs in the top 50 this week. Domino will probably climb faster now that it has a proper music video.

Little Mix holding up well. :o (so far)

Olly at #16 with HSAB. Jeez. :o

Suprised there's "old" Katy Perry tracks back in the top 40 yet (Firework, E.T and Last Friday Night), Chris Brown (Yeahx3, Beautiful People), Gaga (Born This Way, Edge Of Glory), Jessie (Price Tag) or Nicki (Super Bass) as I thought they'd be the type of artists to benefit from these gift card effects but I suppose there's still time left.

I think they held up well because on Christmas day some people still bought them and the gift card effect was not yet full in charge. Watch those songs plummet from today on. Xmas is over now. I can see Lou Monte and Bieber dropping faster now.

yeah, think mistletoe is still only new and not a campaign so might be slower....the chart will also be played all week on mtv so all those songs will get more airplay.

My iTunes still hasnt updated at all. But from a few of your updates i'm happy to see Set Fire To The Rain back  to #30.

Paradise being #1 on Sunday would be amazing, really hope it happens.

My itunes hasnt updated at all either, anyone have pop-up bars to show the sales?

Rihanna - You da One  9

Labrinth - Earthquake  10

There's no new update on the pop bars at all.

The chart has updated in the feed, but you have to change the number in the link shown on the first page to get the new update, as I mentioned it a couple of times in this thread :D

I disagree with this, singing is only one element of music and music producers are just as much 'musicians' and worthy of credit as singers are.

I'd rather see more credit being given to songwriters than producers

I'd prefer producers since firstly, it takes more effort and talent to produce an instrumental than to write lyrics imo and secondly the main writers are usually credited anyway, since they're also doing the vocals. Only a few exceptions (e.g. Rihanna, Britney Spears, etc.) is it that other people write most of the lyrics, but Rihanna, etc. get paid MUCH less than the artists that write their own lyrics. And also, on a personal level, especially with pop music, I listen primarily to the instrumental. I often don't have a clue what the singers are saying.

I've seen you post some garbage Eric, but that first sentence takes the biscuit. Have you ever been involved within the music industry?

Sorry, but some of the biggest hits of the year were written by Pitbull and LMFAO.

And I'm not the one who said that Don't Stop the Party was an RnB song. :P

I wish Paradise could overtake Military Wives this week. They won't though. I think a return #2 could actually be possible though and maybe #1 next week.

If a song has different producers, writers for the instrumental and the lyrics with none of the three conferring there's going to be something missing from the song IMO. Maybe that's because my favourite genre tends to see the singer in a band write lyrics and work with the rest of the band on the instrumentation and at least one member of the band often co-produces it with an outside producer who's in the studio with them. At the risk of sounding snobby, it makes it sound more pleasing that were all the elements pretty much emailed to each other.

Agreed. Military Wives will easily be at number 1 for a second week. Little Mix may even hold at number 2, but it's doubtful.

What makes you think Military Wives will stay at number 1? Sunday and Saturday Coldplay had the lead and the shops were closed, so no additional physical sales for MW.
