I really want 'Love On Top' and 'The One That Got Away' to go top ten. :( Think they'll both miss out, though.

Ditto. :( Maybe the birth rumours will help LOT and the divorce news will help TOTGA. :P

Some would argue birth rumours already helped LOT once :P (Well, they weren't rumours that time).

Is it just a coincidence that 'Love On Top' is about celebrating love and 'The One That Got Away' is about a lost love? Or do I smell a couple of conspiracy theories? :P

Just a coincidence surely but that's quite freaky

Ahh I see you noticed your mistake. :P

I'm sure they both took a look at the UK iTunes Chart and knew they needed to created a few stories to boost their songs into the top 10.

WHAT MISTAKE

(It does sound like 'feed' :kink:)

As I've just posted in the Chart Show thread, my most embarrassing mis-heard song lyric is worse.

It took me months to figure out the Price Tag lyric is 'we're paying with love tonight' rather than 'we're playing with love tonight'. Suddenly everything made sense when I realised that :kink:

EDIT: Oh, it's not that either apparently - but the point is I imagined an 'L' sound in there

What is the actual lyric in PT?

I used to think Murder On the Dancefloor's lyric was "There's murder on the dancefloor, but you better not kill the groom" until I gained a brain and figured it out myself.

It's apparently 'we'll pay em with love tonight'.

One of my favourite (and BuzzJack-relevant) lyric mishearings is the intro to Give Me Everything - 'Pitbull, Nayer, Ne-Yo, Des'ree'. :D I still have no idea what he says after 'Ne-Yo' so I'm forced to assume I'm right anyway

It's basically the same thing. :P

Haha would be nice for Des'ree to get some recognition at last. :P 'Kissing You' is amazing!

Hopefully Paradise can hold onto the #1 until 2012, but i doubt it...

Also MLJ is rising fast. It could enter the top 10 before the new entries do :o

The 2nd version is up to #18 (which could prevent the 1st from going top 10 i guess)

Flo Rida up to #1 now.

And I Gotta Feeling up to #98, Firework up to #73 and Auld Lang Syne up to #36.

If anyone has any other suitable explanations for this latest load of old songs re-entering do tell :P Just looks like the weekend effect is combining with the gift card effect to give another massive push to old songs.

I think the Steps-esque Mariah Carey version of Auld Lang Syne should be top 40 -_- It's so bad it's good!

End of year effect? Presumably most music channels and radio stations today have been focusing on 2011. Certainly in the case of most of those top 100 re-entries the Radio 1 EOY countdown might have contributed to their reappearance, seeing as most of them featured in that.
