Is there a key to what the colours mean, anywhere?

I thought green meant its selling better than the previous update...

red - sales dropping

could be wrong though

The funny thing is that Dominick the Donkey isn't falling.

Pretty much all of Radio 1 have got behind this this week, James Corden was a guest on Greg James show yesterday and he played it, they were both loving it. I have to say of all the songs released this week or have got towards the top it's BY FAR the one I enjoy most, perhaps 'Teen Spirit' aside, but I can't get behind that, I can with Dominik though, the kind of novelty that's great!

I think that's correct, white is remaining the same, coloured is falling/climbing and if the colours are deeper they're falling/climbing more rapidly.

Does anyone know how long the Xmas iTunes freeze lasts for? When does it usually start and when does it usually end?

I ask because I have a vague memory of last year (or the year before) when it finally unfroze and something shocking happened - I think a song climbed quite a lot during the freeze. I can't really remember tbh.

During the freeze the Christmas songs pretty much vanished completely and tons of old songs climbed from the gift card effect. So it looked pretty weird in general.

Not sure when it starts but I think it lasts for pretty much the whole of Christmas Day pretty much.

Ok cheers. :D It's really bugging me now that I can't remember what song it was that jumped so high during the freeze. I was literally thinking "how the hell did that happen?!" Might have to find the thread. :P

The christmas freeze is just a good way for itunes to get rid of the christmas songs and get the new/old gift card songs into the chart!

I wonder how the influx of xmas songs will affect the final chart placings on sunday?

Im hoping Buble - Christmas will sneak top 40 and these next few hours see Chris Rea have his highest sales of the year

I think you're thinking of Florence + the Machine with 'You've Got the Love', two years ago :P

What happened there exactly? :P I looked at the 2010 Xmas thread and the only notable thing occuring is the Katy B song yo-yoing up and down the top 10.

Jessie J could possibly do a "Rihanna" and have three songs in the official top 40 next week - 'Who You Are' being joined by 'Up' and 'Domino' (which is top 40 when you exclude the Xmas/novelty songs).

The Katy B thing was odd. It satrted its chart run 4-11-4  Weirdest thing was it actually decreased in sales week-on-week when climbing from 11-4. Talk about a default climb. IIRC it reached its peak on iTunes during that third week rather than its first as well.

Price Tag might be top 40 next week as well from the gift card effect.

Gosh. I remember this time last year everybody on here hated Katy B so much.

She's so popular with the general public though. I think she'll do well with her next album.

It was the BBC's theme to the New Year, combined with an appearance on New Year's Eve TOTP. It climbed from low top 40 to top 10 after the broadcast. So maybe not straight after Christmas, but it was a pleasant surprise!

I really hope not. I find PT absolutely uninspiring and uninspired. Probably the most overhyped song of the year. "It's not about the money, money, money" - oh how ironic.

I get the feeling that, if PT does re-enter the top 40 officially, it'll probably push either 'Up' or 'Domino' out of the top 40. Tbh I don't like any of those three songs. I'd rather 'Who's Laughing Now' or 'Do It Like A Dude' re-entered if I had the choice. Actually, if I really had the choice, I'd take Jessie J out of the current chart altogether (maybe excluding WYA) and adding songs by other artists.

Oh and thanks Theo. I vaguely remember that actually. That was when DDAO was also doing well due to something, right?

^ To be honest, Dog Days Are Over was doing "well due to something" for the entirety of 2009 and 2010. It's longevity was amazing! :o
Jessie J better not have numerous songs in the top 40 next week. :( She's such a cliche. The "girls are as good as boys" message, the "money isn't important" message, the "we all make mistakes" message, the "f*** the school bullies" message and the "you're perfect as you are" message. Honestly it's kind of funny how she's wrapped up the big cliche's in her first five singles!

Not 2009 - it was top 100 in 2009 for a total of two weeks, once at #93 and once at #91. :P

It broke into the top 40 because of the Slumdog Millionaire advert.
