Well, it's the time of year to present my top 100 singles of the year and top 40 albums and it's been a decent year overall, more musically diverse than 2010 and six songs have been great enough to reach my top 100 favourite songs of all time - they are the top six here and will be revealed later. 98% of the top 100 reached my top ten but I did make two rather huge errors of judgement that have been rectified in a Jonjo-esque way and a #18 and #19 peaking single will both be appearing in the top 100! I'll kick off with the bottom half of my album chart of the year, numbers 21-40, including the peak and my three key tracks!

21. Veronica Maggio – Satan I Gatan #2 (Satan I Gatan, Välkommen In, Snälla Bli Min)

22. Jessie J - Who You Are #2 (Price Tag, Do It Like A Dude, Stand Up)

23. David Guetta – Nothing But The Beat #2 (Titanium, Without You, Repeat)

24. Colbie Caillat - All Of You #1 (Dream Life, Life, Brighter Than The Sun, I Do)

25. The Sound Of Arrows – Voyage #1 (M.A.G.I.C., Into The Clouds, My Shadow)

26. Cascada - Original Me #1 (Enemy, Au Revoir, San Francisco)

27. Wonderland – Wonderland #2 (Why Here, Why Now, Get Your Boots On, Not A Love Song)

28. Same Difference – The Rest Is History #1 (Karma Karma, The Rest Is History, Emotion)

29. Natasha Bedingfield - Strip Me #1 (Weightless, No Mozart, Strip Me)

30. Misty Miller - Misty Miller #1 (Remember, Wild Thing, Bones)

31. Beyonce – 4 #3 (Best Thing I Never Had, Dreaming, I Was Here)

32. Nicole Scherzinger – Killer Love #3 (Poison, Don't Hold Your Breath, Killer Love)

33. Lena – Good News #2 (Taken By A Stranger, A Million and One, Push Forward)

34. Birdy – Birdy #3 (1901, People Help The People, White Winter Hymnal)

35. Ke$ha – Cannibal #1 (We R Who We R, The Harold Song, Blow)

36. Agnes Obel – Philharmonics #2 (Riverside, Wallflower, Falling, Catching)

37. Lenka – Two #2 (Heart Skips A Beat, Roll With The Punches, Two)

38. Nero – Welcome Reality #1 (Me & You, Promises, Crush On You)

39. Sara Varga - Spring För Livet #2 (Spring För Livet, Förlåt mig älskling, När vinden vänder)

40. Slow Moving Millie - Renditions #2 (Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want, Feels Like Heaven, Love In The First Degree)

Kicking things off are a load of top three albums that came, spawned their highlights and went but the 21-25 region are the real gems here (obviously). Veronica Maggio's second album Satan I Gatan was SO much better than her debut and easily the biggest album of the year in her native Sweden, with every single album track making a lengthy impact on the singles chart! All three of my picks as well as Jag Kommer and at least three other tracks are amazing pop. The biggest new artist of the year, Jessie J, falls at #22 with a pretty great debut, reminiscent of Natasha Bedingfield and perhaps a bit dated in places but it somehow works. David Guetta's Nothing But The Beat was far more to my taste than One Love thanks to loads of poptastic collaborations and he finishes just ahead of Colbie Caillat. Colbie's Coco was #1 in my EOY 2007 chart whilst second album Breakthrough was top ten in my 2009 chart. The law of diminishing returns strikes again and with a slightly weaker but still decent album with plenty of highlights, she's just outside the top 20 with her third album.

Elsewhere are The Sound of Arrows excellent long awaited debut and chart toppers from Cascada (although lets face it, the tacked on Greatest Hits propelled it to #1), Same Difference with a fantastic Scandipop influenced sophomore effort, Natasha Bedingfield, Misty Miller, Ke$ha and Nero! A load of female singer/songwriter albums, a surprisingly good debut from Irish girlband Wonderland and Lena Meyer-Landrut's 'decent but not as good as the debut' second album also fall here as well as albums by US superstars Beyonce and Nicole Scherzinger...

Looking forward to seeing the results of this. Our tastes may be miles apart, but there's always a few wee gems that I've missed through the year. I'm also slightly hoping that at least one of the songs that I put in the CDSWAP make it as well.

Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend

Toddla T feat J2K and Shola Ama - Take It Back

Babel Fish - Depend On Me

Lloyd - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)

Slow Moving Millie - Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want

I ADORE all of these which shows how much I adore my top 100!

Poor SFTTR :(

Poor SFTTR :(

Poor Lloyd :( I'll be one of a few to chart him this year, everyone else will discover it next year when it climbs to #1 :D [/wishfulthinking] I'm really looking forward to this chart even if Ed Sheeran will be an obvious #1.

Into the top 100 singles (with peak chart position) and as with last year I'll post the videos to a couple of selections you might not have heard;

100. Rihanna - Where Have You Been (#6)

99. Wretch 32 feat Ed Sheeran - Hush Little Baby (#6)

98. Jennifer Lopez - Papi (#7)

97. Maja Keuc - No One (#6)

96. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) (#7)

95. Little Mix - Cannonball (#3)

94. Keri Hilson feat Nelly - Lose Control (#5)

93. Ed Sheeran - One Night (#7)

92. Yohanna - Nótt (#4)

91. Ed Sheeran - Sofa (#10)

Yohanna - Nótt

Ed Sheeran - Sofa

A sign of things to come? In this first batch are the first three of six Ed Sheeran songs in the top 100, although the other three are much later on...Hush Little Baby is the highlight of Wretch 32's album and should definitely be his next single. One Night and Sofa are from Ed's Loose Change EP and with accomplished production already, sounding at least as good as the majority of + it's a shame that they didn't make the transition over to his debut album. Rihanna kicks off the top 100 for a second year in a row with a sure to be massive 2012 hit, Where Have You Been, and Jennifer Lopez's underrated anthem Papi also makes an appearance. Slovenia's brilliant Eurovision entry by Christina Aguilera soundalike Christina Aguilera, Little Mix's debut single, their X Factor coronation song, Kelly Clarkson's upcoming second single from her current album, Stronger, and Keri Hilson's Rude Boy/Ti Amo soundalike duet Lose Control with Nelly all appear in this batch. Yohanna's Nótt wasn't quite as good as her 2009 Eurovision 2nd placer Is It True but still gorgeous enough for a place in my top 100 of the year, give it a listen if you don't know it already!

Slovenia has a Christina Aguilera soundalike who even has the same name?! Woah. :P
From the albums thus far, my highlights are Veronica, Jessie, Nicole and Ke$ha, but a fabulous list overall :D Liking all of 100-91 in the singles especially Cannonball, Where Have You Been? and Sofa! No One was one of my ESC faves this year as well!

90. Karizma - When Life is Grey (#8)

89. Reece Mastin - Good Night (#5)

88. Coldplay - Paradise (#3)

87. Noah And The Whale - Waiting For My Chance To Come (#18)

86. Katie Cole - Breakout (#6)

85. Same Difference feat Alcazar - Karma Karma (#3)

84. The Saturdays - All Fired Up (#5)

83. Tove Styrke - Call My Name (#5)

82. A Friend In London - New Tomorrow (#7)

81. Adaline - Whiter/Straighter (#3)

Karizma - When Life Is Grey

Reece Mastin - Good Night

A Friend In London - New Tomorrow

Kicking off the top 90 is a song that won the public vote over in Moldova to represent them in Eurovision 2011. Sadly it failed to win the overall vote and it was another 'what could have been' situation for this Ace of Base-esque anthem. Australian X Factor winner Reece Mastin got handed a better winner's single than Little Mix did in the slightly generic yet original pop song Raise Your Glass, sorry I mean Good Night. Coldplay's current hit Paradise narrowly finishes ahead of Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall which would have been #101 - looks like it has become my favourite song of the Mylo Xyloto era then - eventually!

A diabolical #18 peak is rectified here for Noah & The Whale's excellent Waiting For My Chance To Come, the instant album standout for me on first listen which sounded even more great when it was played in it's entireity at the beginning of an episode of Skins earlier in the year. It became a single eventually and built up a lenthy run in my weekly chart, but it still couldn't get past #18. Nevertheless, it IS one of my favourite songs of 2011! The first of two songs from rising Australian singer Katie Cole is at #86, the dramatic ballad Breakout, which gets especially epic in the last minute with sweeping strings and dramatic production. The standout track from Same Difference's excellent album The Rest Is History was a collaboration with Scandipop legends Alcazar. It wore off fairly quickly but is still more than worthy of a spot in the top 100!

My favourite of this year's Saturdays' singles was their second release from the On Your Radar era, the dance anthem All Fired Up which finishes at No.84. Not as good as the stunning White Light Moment but still a brilliant pop song in its own right was Tove Styrke's Call My Name. Denmark always perform consistently well in the Eurovision and the Take That meets Andreas Johnson soundalike A Friend In London finished 5th with New Tomorrow - a rousing song and a strong performance and they finish just shy of my top 80. And the first of nine of my ten BJSC entries (only Elsiane missed out due to being an older hit) makes an appearance at #81. It finished a miserable 18th but the punchy jazz-pop singer/songwriter sounds of Adaline's Whiter Straighter still remain great to these ears.

Liking the rundown Rich. I like Kelly, J Lo and little mix. Im currently on my mobile viewing so cant highlight. Looking forward to the rest :D

Ooh, good start. Nice to see Paradise eventually grew on you that much (I wasn't really expecting it here, even though it did go to #3 in your last chart).

I might have eventually been sold on Breakout, it's probably my 3rd favourite of hers now, behind Sunrise and Always. A Friend In London is very good, and anthemic, not the strongest song in itself, but what a performance on the night!

Karma Karma wore off quite quickly for me too, but I think I've put it far higher than that , just on how much I loved it in the first half of the year.

Glad to see Tove make it, after it wore off for you fairly quickly! Just missed out on my own top forty, though White Light Moment still outstrips it easily. Nice showing for Paradise too - never made my charts but landed a respectable position eventually, so I guess it kinda snook up on us both!

Excited to see if anyone has bested the obvious winner! :D

Amazing to see AFU  I'm not alone in having it as my fave OYR single! Loving Reece and Tove as well, as well as others.

Yes, it took a while didn't it, it crept in at the last minute and knocked out Every Teardrop in the process :drama:

Glad Breakout grew on you, it's so stunning production wise  Agreed about A Friend In London, it's shocking that they did the reverse of Blue and finished so low on the public vote but so high in the jury vote :o I thought the public would lap it up! Karma Karma only spent 4 weeks in my chart altogether so it definitely wore off incredibly quickly. Still incredible for 2 weeks at least though :P

Glad to see Tove make it, after it wore off for you fairly quickly! Just missed out on my own top forty, though White Light Moment still outstrips it easily. Indeed, Paradise is something of the slow burner isn't it!

We shall see if who you think is on top, is indeed on top :o

Yay Paradise :yahoo: oh and great to see AFU top 90 too :D

Glad you approve!

Paradise only #88 :o bit low

You seem to be making this same comment in a number of EOY threads  Don't you recall your dire initial personal chart run for it before it got a second wind - it's a grower! Had I been compiling this list in two months it would be a lot higher I'm sure :P

Amazing to see AFU  I'm not alone in having it as my fave OYR single! Loving Reece and Tove as well, as well as others.

All Fired Up is pretty great, a deserved UK top 3 hit for them. After a slow start with me I love Notorious a lot more after seeing it on tour too, it would have been top 120. My Heart Takes Over is a bit plodding and the least risky of their 2011 singles but I liked that too. However, there is still one more Sats song to come, no prizes for guessing which

80. Edith Backlund - What I've Become (#5)

79. Kate Ryan feat Narco - Broken (#2)

78. Leona Lewis / Avicii - Collide (#6)

77. Lady Gaga - Judas (#4)

76. Jennifer Lopez feat Lil' Wayne - I'm Into You (#8)

75. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care (#4)

74. Young London - Let Me Go (#4)

73. LMFAO feat Lauren Bennett & Goonrock - Party Rock Anthem (#10)

72. The Saturdays - White Lies (#4)

71. Sara Bareilles - Love Is Christmas (#3)

Edith Backlund - What I've Become

Kate Ryan feat Narco - Broken

Sara Bareilles - Love Is Christmas

The next lot then kicks off with a gorgeous building ballad in the form of What I've Become by Swedish singer Edith Backlund. It starts mellow and subtle but by the end has become something very interesting indeed with layers continuing to form from the start of the song to the end. A 'blink and you'll miss it' #2 hit from Belgian singer Kate Ryan is at #79 (and I've just noticed it has a new official video!), whilst 'great and I love them but not any of these artist's finest moment' songs from Leona Lewis, Lady Gaga (watered down Bad Romance meets Steps?) and Jennifer Lopez are next up.

And keeping things up to date with some songs barely a few weeks old, the entrancing Take Care by Drake and Rihanna, The Saturdays' fantastic album track, should be single but wasn't even performed on tour, White Lies and Sara Bareilles gorgeous piano ballad xmas offering Love Is Christmas. Elsewhere are US electro-pop duo with their promising debut single Let Me Go, which I had confirmed and dropped for BJSC before it eventually came second for Ojnoj months later...I DID drop it for Lise Karlsnes' Red Hot though, which...came 2nd and finishes quite a bit higher in my EOY chart so I'm not all that bothered...And of course, that annoyingly massive song Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO also makes an appearance. I'm sure most of Buzzjack hate it now if they haven't always but it reminds me of some good times clubbing and deserves a place in my top 100 of the year for sure! How it's sold almost a million copies though, I haven't a clue!

78. Leona Lewis / Avicii - Collide (#6)

77. Lady Gaga - Judas (#4)

76. Jennifer Lopez feat Lil' Wayne - I'm Into You (#8)

75. Drake feat Rihanna - Take Care (#4)

Ugh LMFAO :( anyway Love J Lo, GaGa, Leonas alright and Drake ft Rihanna is just ok but good list :D

Edited by Rob Summers

Great to see Lady GaGa, Drake and especially LMFAO on this chart  I also like that J-Lo song but didn't chart it well, it just never grew on me and peaked at #25 in its 1st week. :(
