I think Ein was quite lucky to make the final, actually, I really wasn't sure it would make it. I don't know if Isconia could win the whole thing though, more and more people have liked it since it won, so it'll certainly be towards the top. I'd agree that'll probably the top 4 though. 212 could get top 10...

And I'll make a prediction. I don't think Beth Ditto will come last. :kink: Seriously, it's a mystery how it's got this far, but there must be something in it.

I'm thinking/hoping Ein will end up around 15th-20th place. I'm optimistic enough to think It won't Bomb but It's not got a hope in hell of being much higher. And I agree with Eyes, it was lucky to qualify.
I don't think it's worth a thread of its own but here are the opening odds for the final from FSR Rontvia;

2/1 Isconia || Lana Del Rey - Video Games

3/1 Kopečka || Loreen - Sober

4/1 FSR Rontvia || Sheelah - The Last Time

5/1 Batidas || Gotye & Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

7/1 FSR Rontvia || Chart Music - All My Life

7/1 Espen || Frida Gold - Wovon sollen wir träumen

7/1 Batidas || Agnes Obel - Riverside

----------------

12/1 Greenfroze || Rachel Platten - 1000 Ships

15/1 Mdiče || Charli XCX - Nuclear Seasons

15/1 FSR Rontvia || Lise Karlsnes - Red Hot

15/1 Elëdan || Azealia Banks - 212

15/1 Kluminican Republic || Aura Dione - Geronimo

18/1 Hendinia || Ricki-Lee - Raining Diamonds

18/1 FSR Rontvia || Eric Amarillo - Om Sanningen Ska Fram

20/1 Daehun || IU - Good Day

22/1 Ojnoj || Young London - Let Me Go

22/1 Farahtyn || Jessica Mauboy – Inescapable

22/1 Ojnoj || Misty Miller - Remember

22/1 United States of Jack || Fefe Dobson - Stuttering

25/1 Ojnoj || Destinee & Paris - True Love

25/1 Unoshake || Havana Brown - We Run The Night

25/1 Herzebania || Charice - Louder

25/1 Allecian || Ask Embla - Ein

25/1 Federal Republic of Ashton || Karamel - Underwear

30/1 Isconia || Oh Land - Sun of a Gun

30/1 Farahtyn || Ola - All Over The World

35/1 Elëdan || Idool 2011 - More To Me

35/1 People's Republic of Jester || Alexandra Stan - Mr. Saxobeat

35/1 FSR Rontvia || Lykke Li - Sadness Is A Blessing

40/1 Persephonia || Beth Ditto - I Wrote The Book

Potential winners above the line...We've had some amazing winners this year and I think we'll stay more loyal to them than usual, aside from maybe Lykke Li (:(), Charice and maybe Jessica Mauboy.

You really don't think Eric Amarillo - Om Sanningen Ska Fram could go all the distance or at least come top 5?

I'd be really happy if one of my entries were to win but I honestly think Agnes Obel stands a better chance of winning than Gotye.

I'm not sure either, TBO is so much harder to call than a regular contest as they've all done well to get this far by either winning their contest or getting through two further stages to qualify for this. Video Games is so well regarded on Buzzjack, it was a 50/50 love/hate song when it won BJSC but I think that's more like 75/25 these days, a lot of people have come around to it since it got a UK release. But will people mark it down now that it's been a hit single? Who knows...it seems like the most likely song to score a load of consistently high points from people though, but any one of a few songs could take it. As for Ein, I love it and I hope it does better than that but it didn't do quite as well as I'd anticipated in its original contest and I'm wondering if up against all of these bonafide BJSC classics, it will manage to do much better than the 18-23 region...we shall see! It may well have grown on certain people over time but so has literally every other song in this final I'm sure :lol:

I'm not saying that Beth Ditto will be last, just that it's the song I can least imagine winning it :lol:

I wouldn't have thought so, what makes you think that it will, it only finished 6th in its original contest, is there any reason that it should have gathered much momentum since then? :o I'm just glad that it's got this far, it's my favourite entry of mine this year by some margin, still gutted at the thought that it's destined never to be heard outside of Scandinavia :(

Having experienced three Best Of's, there's always one song that finishes poorly in its contest and romps to a near victory in TBO, I'm sure Gotye will be that song this year, but don't think it quite has enough momentum in it to win. Riverside is gorgeous and I do hope that it finishes top five for you but I rarely hear people talk about it now, not compared to some of the other songs here anyway, so I wonder if it's fallen off the radar a bit? :o

Ein was the big surprise of that contest for me, I thought it would do well, never imagined it would come in 4th! Maybe I need to pay more attention to what is being hyped, I do remember it had quite a bit of hype around it.

Anyway, voted. Only the best made it. There were 2 songs I really didn't want to cut, but so be it.

I guess it all depends on who votes. I remember there were people who voted for Eric Amarillo who you were surprised gave you points. There may well be newer countries that have got onboard BJSC more recenrly who like the song.

Maybe you're right re; Gotye. I guess with the track now available on iTunes (albeit on the verge of the top 100 :lol: ) it's still being brought to people's attention. 'Riverside' won back in April so I think the reason it's fallen off people's radar's is because we've had another 7 contests since then. :P I wonder if the earlier contests would suffer more in TBO purely because people have forgotton about those songs. I noticed most of the tracks that qualified for TBO went on to become a UK hit to some extent.

Riverside has grown on me so much since it's contest. Really wouldn't be surprised if Farahtyn were the bottom 2 songs of the contest.

I won't do the usual Daehun rant if I come even last in this contest as for me to get this far is already something :o

I will vote very soon and I will probably find it easy to vote as there's a clear love/hate border for me in this final.

I'm going to say Video Games will win as well. I mean it even appeals to ME who's VERY pop.

Maybe but going up against 29 songs in a regular final and then 29 best entries of the year is a different kettle of fish. I've had to give 'nul points' to songs that have grown on me hugely over the year and literally just go for my ten favourites. There was only one song in this final that I don't have time for actually...Your argument could be applied to any song in this final :o

I'm not so sure, The Flood, The Radio and Psycho were all sent early on in 2010 iirc and managed to come top three in the last Best Of. I'd like to think that with the mammoth support it got in its contest that The Last Time will still be recognised for the great slice of Scandipop that it is, rather than being ignored because it was too long ago to think about. So hopefully, Riverside won't have fallen off people's radars either, it deserves top five and I still have it pegged as a possible winner, but with the help of its current exposure perhaps Gotye is more likely. Certainly I only rank my favourite ten of the songs here, I couldn't care if they were sent to the first or last contest of the year!

I actually voted. Mr Saxobeat to win! Wooo.

:w00t:

Voting vv soon :)

As expected, I've listened through the first half and like a lot of them! I think it may be very hard to choose a top 10 once I've finished!

Off-topic a moment, but can any of the mods tell me whether the next contest will be able to start this month once this competition has finished or whether it will have to wait until February. Thanks ;)

We said at the end of XL that XLI would begin a week after this finished...

Really? That must've slipped by me. I thought I had to start the next contest early February :drama: Oh good, now I'm a bit stressed out :P

I must admit I had no idea :ph34r:
Thanks for confirming - that will mean there should be no problem with my absence that I had been discussing with Freeze :D

I think we'd be lynched if there was a two month gap between proper contests :lol:

We'd like the contest to start around the 15th/16th of Jan, depending on when you are available.

It's a good thing someone keeps the calender then innit :P :heehee:

Seriously though, we need an ACTUAL calendar :lol:

We did have one at one point iirc, but the three month break between me winning and hosting through that out the window :lol:

One of the reasons I believed so, was I noticed that XXXI was in February. I checked closer though, and confirmation was open from the 23rd of January to 2nd of February. Given this information, could I start confirmation at around the 20/21st of January instead? This will begin the semi finals at the end of the month, with the final and final results at the beginning weeks of February.
