Surely Taio will actually have a shot of stealing No.1 this week? Didn't Gettin' Over You top the iTunes chart on Thursday or something? With three days left, it might be quite close.

I assume that pi,e of shit from Taio Cruz is heading to #1 due to the lack of new releases right now?

Great start to the year :/

This feels like the beginning of 2008 with all of these terrible songs doing well in the chart. Basshunter and H "Two" O. :puke:

I liked last year's January #1s. 'What's My Name?' and 'Grenade' were totally worthy.

Yeah, but look on the bright side...Scissor Sisters' new song will undoubtedly storm the charts next month!

Out of interest, I've heard a lot of people hate on that Basshunter song, but I don't get why. It's the sort of thing that would be liked on here. I think I know a couple of reasons why it's particularly hated on Buzzjack though.

I can see them doing well actually, but, much like with Taio's song, I don't think it's that good personally. It's not very imaginitive.

His second single was SO much worse than 'Now You're Gone'. :puke2:

How ironic. In 2008 I was wishing that Taio Cruz would have more success and declaring him as severely underrated at every given opportunity. Now I really wish that he'd just p*ss off, he's gone from interesting electro and string laden pop songs to lowest common denominator 'will this do?' overly Americanised limp club crap, a sound that I wish would just die now, but apparently it's not done yet. Apparently the British public are easily pleased as he heads for yet another top five smash with a song that he probably wrote in two minutes and produced in less.

My thoughts exactly! It's just so awful. :puke:

And the thing is, people keep buying his songs in massive numbers for some reason (Dynamite is the 2nd best-selling song of the decade in the US ), so he's not going to stop doing this anytime soon. :( The production is what bothers me the most tbh. Anybody could've made that instrumental.

I agree, ever since 'Break Your Heart' he's not been the slightest bit interesting. I hope he starts to fade after his first week so he misses out on the #1. It's going to have an awful chart run and we don't need to be starting the non-#1s ALREADY. But sadly I think it's likely to get #1 next week if not this just because of low sales :(

Is there a reason why Pixie's "Kiss the Stars" is climbing up the charts?

Its radio airplay is increasing?

I hate the song too, but how do you know it'll be a non-#1? Taio Cruz usually has massive chart runs, and it's charted very well in its first week, off very little radio airplay (most of us hadn't heard the song until now), and it's very generic and radio-friendly. Reminds me a lot of Moves Like Jagger and Good Feeling (in terms of chart behaviour).

I'm not against male artists though. I love the likes of Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder - you know, actually great male artists. But the likes of Basshunter and Taio are just embarrassing music. The reason I hate NYG is because the vocal isn't particularly impressive, the instrumental isn't exactly overwhelming and the lyrics aren't anything to write home about. Now a great dance number one is 'We Found Love' which has all of those three things I've mentioned.

Also, I haven't actually heard this new SS song yet but I'd probably take it over Flo Rida and Taio. At least they haven't released a generic record yet unlike the others.

@Eric: is it? i haven't heard it once! :P I'm happy though. She really needs to release the video!

Dynamite I could take as it's actually a pretty anthemic pop song, and the club banger production wasn't so offensive to me a year and a half ago, just before we were absolutely drowning in it. I never understood the huge success of Break Your Heart and I'm certainly not getting the success of Troublemaker, listening to it is about as thrilling as watching paint dry, the same applies to Little Bad Girl. They're just so boring with little in the way of any melody, for every song he releases there are 100 other club bangers that do the job far more interestingly and I can't understand how he continually gets so much (worldwide!) success with such cheap and nasty songs  It annoys me because I was championing him so much after Come On Girl and I Can Be!

Well, let's just say, the Scissor Sisters are about to release a generic record, like the others. :kink: I only heard it once (and I have no intent to listen to it again), but the first thing I thought was "LMFAO" (as in the dance duo, the song wasn't particularly funny).

The reasons I thought a lot of people on Buzzjack would hate Now You're Gone were because it beat Britney Spears to #1, and also because of the sex tape. When that happened, everybody I know was saying things like "Well, I still like the song, just..."

I think We Found Love is just as bad as those Taio Cruz, etc. songs. Mainly because it sounds the same. I want to like it, since I love Rihanna, but it's just disappointing for me, that she's doing exactly what I hate on other artists (e.g. Flo Rida, Usher, Lady Gaga, Taio Cruz, Pitbull, etc.) for doing. Granted, at least with Rihanna, it's not every song, but still.

I haven't heard it either. Just radio airplay is the only explanation I can think for it climbing. Most songs start getting radio airplay quite a while before their music videos, ideally.

I thought of LMFAO when I heard Shady Love as well! Much much much better than them though, of course.

I see it is rumoured that Alexandra Burke's 'Elephant' is going to hit radio next week! :o It apparently has a House sound to it. :o

What I meant by "at least they haven't released a generic record yet" was that I don't mind if SS release one generic pop record (some can actually be great) since they haven't released one before (most of their previous songs have been unique) but Taio literally churns one out every year. It is rather quite annoying!!

I wouldn't say WFL is as bad as Taio's songs at all. It has a euphoric instrumental, the lyrics are actually pretty good for a dance record and, most importantly for me, the vocals are great.

The Scissor Sisters' song really isn't generic, there isn't really anything out there quite like it  I do agree that the track sounds a tiny bit like LMFAO, but it's missing the bits of LMFAO songs which make them generic. I can see it being a surprise hit! Probably a top 10 debut with a fairly quick fall is my prediction.

I am looking forward to hearing it, especially if it has a House sound to it. A 2 minute demo leaked a few weeks ago called 'Tonight' and it is fabulous, so I hope it has a similar sound to that, as I would say that was housey.

I am hoping that 'Domino' can keep climbing and stops Taio going to #1 next week, as I think he is out of the question this week, and I really don't want him to get another #1, especially with this pile of shit.

Taio is falling back, from 97% to 95% in the last two hours. Not a great amount and it could still advance but Flo has a chance to hold on if that is Taio's level.
