January 4, 201214 yr Now THAT is an interesting playlist. Firstly, :cheer: for Gotye being added, iit'll become a hit then in a few weeks hopefully after picking up steam. What's more surprising is them adding Alone Again! Woo! Please let this be a hit then! It hasn't been a hit anywhere outside Canada last I checked, maybe it'll do it now then. Kelly Clarkson, good, very good. M83... a bit late, isn't it, but good nonetheless. Delighted to see Yasmin straight to B-List (seems it's finally getting somewhere with that, Album please soon?), the other ones going straight to B and A-list, I haven't heard aside from Domino. Oh wait, I have heard Redlight, came across it briefly on Youtube a while back, it passed me by a little bit. Well, good to see something I recognise from my Youtube trawls in then. There, my thoughts. No Alesha, but did they playlist her last ones? I don't think they did. Hmm, not a big deal.
January 4, 201214 yr The 2 Kellys, Pixie, Jessie and Alyssa (of Seyetana BJSC fame ;)) too! Good for Gotye too :D Edited January 4, 201214 yr by Ryan741
January 4, 201214 yr Are songs often added straight to the A-list after the Christmas wipe-out? 2 Skrillex songs added at once - clearly R1 are jumping on the bandwagon. Irritating to see Dot Rotten's 'Keep It On a Low' eliminated - was hoping it'd become a hit, but 'Are You Not Entertained?', the second single received its first play with Zane Lowe this morning, so I suspect they'll play that instead. Great to see Gotye, The Big Pink, The Subways and M83 all getting support.
January 4, 201214 yr The 2 Kellys, Pixie, Jessie and Alyssa (of Seyetana BJSC fame ;)) too! Good for Gotye too :D Who knows, if Alone Again becomes a big enough hit, The Game could become a slightly smaller one... *fingers crossed*
January 4, 201214 yr Who knows, if Alone Again becomes a big enough hit, The Game could become a slightly smaller one... *fingers crossed* I haven't actually heard Alone Again, is it as amazing as The Game is? I'm off to visit YouTube :P
January 4, 201214 yr I haven't actually heard Alone Again, is it as amazing as The Game is? I'm off to visit YouTube :P Think Heart's Alone for the chorus, with slowed down 'The Game's' verses (well, fairly similar) in between. Plus, the P Reign version is better than this Jump Smokers version they are releasing to the UK, you should try out both.
January 4, 201214 yr Author Are songs often added straight to the A-list after the Christmas wipe-out? No.
January 4, 201214 yr Lots of songs I like being added. Kelly Rowland's new song is INCREDIBLE! Amazing. Good to see Who Knows? by Yougman added (ALL this time I've been thinking it was Youngman ), Professor Green, Yasmin (although I swear I've been hearing this song on the radio since last summer on other stations ) and Maverick Sabre added. Annoyed to see Drake taken off the playlist already. Also upsetting to see Taio Cruz up to the A-List. It will help him climb to #1 next week now.
January 4, 201214 yr Skrillex A-List and B-List! :cheer: Yay for Alyssa Reid, Gotye and Kelly Clarkson - hope they will all be big hits. :D Out: Cee-Lo Ed Sheeran Flux Pavilion Jessie J Katy Perry Kelly Rowland T-Pain The Vaccines You Me At Six Alexandra Stan Delilah Drake Friendly Fires Joker Nicki Minaj Sway The Wanted Young Guns Little Mix Big Sean Dot Rotten Various Cruelties :o
January 4, 201214 yr HELL YES for Gotye, it's off to a crap start (well compared to what I wanted) on iTunes but I think it could really pick up. Amazing for Alyssa as well, I'd love it to be a hit - she's great and it's the best thing I've heard from her!
January 4, 201214 yr Amazing for Alyssa as well, I'd love it to be a hit - she's great and it's the best thing I've heard from her! +1
January 4, 201214 yr I love the first playlist of the year - always nice and fresh. Great to see them add Skrillex straight to the A-list - hopefully he can get his first T40 hit - it samples The Doors so that might help it. :) Also nice to see Avicii still on the list, as well as Taio Cruz, SHM and Lana Del Rey climb up. It'd be nice if all of them could be #1 hits - Taio could climb there next week by default, and SHM is the only interesting thing out on it's week. Apart from the inevitable Jessie J addition no interesting things on the B-List. -_- Not a fan of the new Yasmin song, or Korn ft Skrillex (no not even he can make metal sound good) C-List is great, Gotye should be a slow climbing hit thanks to R1 and Alyssa Reid could be a low T10 hit :) I'm not excited to hear the new ones from Clarkson, Rowland, Lott and Sabre, their last singles really did disapoint :( New Sub Focus should be good however.
January 4, 201214 yr HELL YES for Gotye, it's off to a crap start (well compared to what I wanted) on iTunes but I think it could really pick up. Amazing for Alyssa as well, I'd love it to be a hit - she's great and it's the best thing I've heard from her! Generally new songs don't do well at the beginning of a new year - I recall Martin Solveig & Dragonette's 'Hello' being the highest new entry at #73 on week 1 - and that ended up peaking at #13 and making the year-end top 40, selling near to 400,000. If Gotye can even climb into the top 40, I'll be really pleased - hopefully a Martin Solveig/Foster the People type success, slowly climbing all the way to the top.
January 4, 201214 yr Think Heart's Alone for the chorus, with slowed down 'The Game's' verses (well, fairly similar) in between. Plus, the P Reign version is better than this Jump Smokers version they are releasing to the UK, you should try out both. I've just listened to the Jump Smokers version, and I really like it - as good as The Game for me :D I hope it can be a hit here, I love her voice and hopefully she can have a few hits here :)
January 4, 201214 yr Thank GOD Gotye and Kelly Clarkson have been playlisted :D  Interesting to see Alyssa Reid and M83 on there too! Great week.
January 4, 201214 yr There, my thoughts. No Alesha, but did they playlist her last ones? I don't think they did. Hmm, not a big deal. A shame but expected, especially when she just quit the BBC for ITV. :( Lots of new additions but I'm only really bothered about Kelly Clarkson. The Gotye track is awful imo, and I doubt it'll grow as it's mainly his vocals that I hate.
January 4, 201214 yr Shocked at the addition of that awful Alyssa Reid track, what an awful use of such a great song..
January 4, 201214 yr GOOD to see Gotye added because I could already picture people whining about how it's all Radio 1's fault if it goes on to flop. (I still haven't heard the song though). Breakn' A Sweat seems like an odd choice of single to 'properly' try and launch Skrillex here, there's a song featuring Ellie Goulding on his new EP which would surely be the sensible choice? Meh. Pretty average week for new additions IMO, 'Midnight City' is hugely overrated, 'Alone Again' is just terrible, 'Kiss The Stars' and 'Domino' are decent but really generic... I do really like 'Never Be A Right Time' and 'Lay It On Me' though and quite like 'Light Up (The World)'. And I don't think I've heard any of the others. I need to hear this new Sub Focus track though, he never disappoints. On the climbers front, glad to see Florence, Rihanna, Swedish House Mafia and The Maccabees up to the A-List and SBTRKT on the B-List :D
