Posted January 8, 201213 yr Gotye feat. Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know It's been a massive hit in Australia (#1 for 7 weeks) & New Zealand, it's now becoming big in mainland Europe where do you think it will peak in the UK Deserves #1 here in my book Kimbra's HOT!! ccvqSF5JHdc Edited January 10, 201213 yr by euro music
January 8, 201213 yr Not really feeling the hype that everyone on here has been giving this. I predict 5-10.
January 8, 201213 yr What do you say if you think it'll peak at exactly #5? :P I've said 2-5, either 2 or 3.
January 8, 201213 yr It sounds like a reject from the interminably dull "Happiness" album by Hurts in 2010. Edited January 8, 201213 yr by fchd
January 8, 201213 yr LOVE this  I'll say 2-5, about 3 or 4 peak. I'd love it to go number 1 though!
January 8, 201213 yr I didn't expect this to sound like this. I have seen people talking about it on the iTunes thread, and I have no clue why but I kind of expected it to be some European dance track, like 'Loca People' or 'We No Speak Americano' and I don't know why. This should do well actually.
January 8, 201213 yr I voted 2-5 based on the growing hype, although it could just easily be long running, high selling top 20 hit. I suppose that would be good, as its something different, but I'm just not getting into this atm :(
January 8, 201213 yr It's such a massive grower. I first heard it in the summer and thought it was average, it sort of clicked with me a few weeks later - I left it on my playlist for a while so there must have been something about it that I thought I'd grow to like. Sure enough I now find it really really excellent but it's taken over six months for me to get to this stage. Has anybody actually ever loved this song on first listen, I'd be interested to know? Hopefully it very slowly climbs to #1 and breaks the record for most weeks taken to get there, it would be apt really  But realistically I'll go with #4 and hope to be proved wrong. It sounds like a reject from the interminably dull "Happiness" album by Hurts in 2010. Not hearing the similarities between the acts/songs at all :o And I loved that album!
January 8, 201213 yr It's a nice song but hardly one that wows. Plus I can enjoy the song if it were played in a mall but seems so out of place on the Top 40.
January 8, 201213 yr If anyone has to pick similarities, Sting and Peter Gabirel come to mind. Anyhow I think it could go all the way, I like this a lot
January 8, 201213 yr It sounds like a reject from the interminably dull "Happiness" album by Hurts in 2010. Wash your mouth out :o BEST ALBUM OF 2010 BITCHEZZZZZ. I don't hear Hurts in it at all, though I do love it, however I can see it just missing the top 10, so voted 11-20.
January 8, 201213 yr A fantastic Single. It just has to be a UK & Irish Hit. It depends on Air Play, I guess. We will see. I think that Gotye sounds like Sting.
January 8, 201213 yr I bought this today, like someone said above i heard it after hearing about its success in australia and didnt think anything of it, yet now i cant get enough of it. Top 10 methinks
January 8, 201213 yr Has anybody actually ever loved this song on first listen, I'd be interested to know? Well, I certainly didn't on first listen. I didn't dislike it but it didn't grab my attention at all. The reason the track stayed on my radar was because of the success it was getting in Australasia/Europe. By the end of 2011 I thought the track was fantastic and easily one of my fave songs of the year. Would be ace to see this #1 but I don't think it'll quite get there. Big selling UK #2 seems more likely.
January 8, 201213 yr Has anybody actually ever loved this song on first listen, I'd be interested to know? Well I still haven't heard it so there's potential...
January 8, 201213 yr I have everything crossed for #1 but I think 2-5 at the moment. The lack of new releases will help and I can see it climbing quite quickly (considering on Friday it was barely top 100 and now its #51 on itunes). I don't wanna jinx it though. It is a massive grower and if it gets to #2 or #3 then so be it BUT if it gets stuck for weeks at #2 behind loads of different #1s (ala Maroon 5) I will be fuming!
January 8, 201213 yr OMG. Is this on an advert or something? Either way, I though it was some 70s song or something but didn't know the name of it. Just listened to the clip on iTunes. DOWNLOADED. I predict Top 5 for this wonderful piece of music. :)
January 8, 201213 yr Well I still haven't heard it so there's potential... I just listened to it for BJSC and it's okay on first listen. So no seems to be the answer :P
