Posted January 22, 201213 yr AIqxeSiNE-k Fame Academy winner David Sneddon is celebrating after his debut single stormed to the top of the charts. Sneddon's single, Stop Living The Lie, topped the official UK Top 40 pushing Popstars girl band Girls Aloud down two places to number three with their Christmas hit Sound of the Underground. The 24-year-old from Paisley, near Glasgow, who until winning the Academy last month earned cash by busking, said: "I never thought this would happen. "I wrote Stop Living The Lie when I was 17 so it's taken me seven years to get to number one - and that's quite a long time. "Thanks to everyone who bought it, I'm really overwhelmed. Now I'm going to go and have a drink to celebrate." After winning Fame Academy, Sneddon secured a year-long superstar lifestyle and a £1m record contract. The group Busted are also celebrating after their single Year 3000 was a new entry at #2. Other entries straight into the Top 10 include Jaimeson's True in at #4 and Panjabi MC's Mundian to Bach Ke at #5. Layo & Bushwacka are in at #8 with Love Story and at #10 there is a new entry for Feeder with Just the Way I'm Feeling. Meanwhile, there was not much change in the album chart, with no new entries in the Top 10. Avril Lavigne stays in pole position with Let Go. Top 10 Singles 1. David Sneddon - Stop Living the Lie 2. January 22, 201213 yr An incredibly diverse top ten wasn't it - singer/songwriter, boyband pop/rock, girlband drum & bass influenced pop, garage, bhangra, rap, ballad, dance, flamboyant indie and then indie rock :o I long for this sort of regular diversity to come back to the top ten (even if I actually only liked three of these songs )
January 22, 201213 yr Jaimeson- True is such a forgotten classic, as is Complete OvaKEqjdEGc Also, Layo and Bushwacka     Infinite
January 22, 201213 yr This was the mash-up version of Love Story wasn't it, Love Story (Vs Finally) by Layo & Bushwacka vs. Kings of Tomorrow, LOVED the mash-up and bought it on single, the original not so much. I always thought it was the mash-up that went top ten here... With Jaimeson I liked Complete a lot more than True.
January 22, 201213 yr This reminds me that Electric Six really should have been #1 a couple of weeks before. Brilliant song.

Love Story was released in 2002, Love Story vs Finally was in 2003
January 22, 201213 yr That's such a good top 10. Lose Yourself is the best song there by far imo (and currently top 100 on iTunes :D). I loved Sound of the Underground too. Year 3000, I didn't really like. I prefer Yasmin's version of it. :D If You're Not the One really drove me mad. It's so overplayed on the radio, even today, and it's very cheesy. Kind of comparible to Just the Way You Are in that sense. I really like Electric Six aswell, although that's not normally the sort of song I'd like.
January 22, 201213 yr After falling out of love with the charts in 2002, when either Will Young or Gareth Gates seemed to be #1 every week, 2003 saw a big improvement and I listened to a lot of stuff that year. Things went rubbish again in 2004, but anyway :P This is an amazing top 10!! 1. David Sneddon - Stop Living the Lie Ok, this one's throwaway forgettable nonsense, but the rest is good 2. Busted - Year 3000 The only Busted song I like! Maybe cus I love sci-fi :P Everything else they released is dire though 3. Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground Actually not bad, this sounded surprisingly new and modern to me at the time - hard to believe Steps had only split a year earlier 4. Jamieson - True Yeah, played this endlessly - underrated classic! 5. Panjabi MC - Mundian to Bach Kie Ingrained in my memory with the old sponsorship bits on 'Big Brother' that year! Started off a weird mini Bhangra craze in the charts 6. Eminem- Lose Yourself One of his best, loved it 7. Daniel Bedingfield - If You're Not The One One of my least favourite songs ever at the time, frustratingly overplayed on all the music channels. Gotta Get Thru This was much better 8. Layo & Bushwacka - Love Story INCREDIBLE dance track - one of the last of the very greats! Jurgen Vries 'The Opera Song' was another massive classic from around this time, and then gradually things went horribly wrong for dance... 9. Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage This was ok, but I much preferred 'Gay Bar' - that was one I'd blast out the mp3 of when my parents weren't home :P 10. Feeder - Just The Way I'm Feeling Never heard of it...still a great top 9 though!
January 22, 201213 yr Jaimeson is surely the most forgotten act to have TWO top 5 hits in the 2000s. Actually I remember True was a bit of a shock hit that kind of came a bit from the leftfield, especially since it had more than a whiff of 2000/2001 in terms of sound about it, though obviously Complete doing well was less shocking (plus as gooddelta said, it was a much better song). This was also the week of the slightly hyped on selected internet forums only Pop Idol chart battle between Zoe Birkett and Rosie Ribbons, with them going in at an amazing #12 and #19 respectively  The top 10 is okay-ish, but the last half of 2003 was miles better than the first half anyway so doubt it's as good as later ones that year. January, and to a lesser extent February too, used to always be a bit more diverse than the rest of the year in those days though as it was much quieter and sales were lower, which allowed for lesser (and occasionally more interesting) hits to squeeze through when normally they would have been lower top 20. Doubt Layo & Bushwacka! or Feeder would have made it in any other time of year... in fact, weren't all of Feeder's top 10 hits in January now that I think about it?
January 22, 201213 yr 10. Feeder - Just The Way I'm Feeling Never heard of it...still a great top 9 though! *Feeder loon unleashed* You WILL find it a great Top 10, I guarantee. This is probably Feeder's third biggest hit (after Just A Day and Buck Rogers of course), an people havn't heard of it. If ever there was a use of the words 'fanbase act'. :(

Probably, I haven't heard True for years but all I can recall of it is a fairly average garage song with a female singer repeating 'Angel Blu, Jaimeson, True' over and over again  O-Town, Abs, and The 411 could be added to the list of those its hard to believe managed two top five hit during the 00s! The most unexpected act to manage two though, in my opinion, was Scooch - I never imagined that Flying The Flag (For You) would give them their second top five hit, more than seven years after the previous one! I certainly couldn't call them forgotten though because it was one of more memorable UK Eurovision entries of the 00s, for all of the wrong reasons! More Than I Needed To Know however probably would easily qualify as one of the most forgotten top five hits of the decade.
January 22, 201213 yr weren't all of Feeder's top 10 hits in January now that I think about it? All three of them, yes! Though they have had lots of Top 40 hits to be fair. More than any in that Top 10 anywho. :P EDIT: Not sure how many Eminem has had come to think of it... :P Edited January 22, 201213 yr by Juranamo

January 22, 201213 yr Count Feeder's top 40 hits total, and then count that of Girls Aloud :P Eminem thrashes them both on that front anyway... 20 vs 20. :P I must've imagined a few more for Feeder then! EDIT: 21 vs 20. I'm getting my chart trivia confused tonight. I'm worse than Music Week. :( Edited January 22, 201213 yr by Juranamo
January 22, 201213 yr 20 vs 20. :P I must've imagined a few more for Feeder then! GA have 21 don't they? 20 top 10 hits in a row then Untouchable.

As for Jaimeson, Complete is an utter tune! 2003 in general was superb really, alot of variety. Here are my personal chart #1s from 2003: 2003 Electric Six – Danger! High Voltage (3) Jurgen Vries feat CMC – The Opera Song (Brave New World) (1) Tatu – All The Things She Said (1) Christina Aguilera – Beautiful (1) Röyksopp - Eple (1) Junior Senior – Move Your Feet (2) Coldplay - Clocks (2) Liberty X vs Richard X – Being Nobody (2) Faithless feat Dido – One Step Too Far (2) David Sneddon – Don’t Let Go (2) Girls Aloud – No Good Advice (5) Delta Goodrem – Lost Without You (4) Busted – Sleeping With The Light On (4) Jaimeson - Complete (2) Girls Aloud – Life Got Cold (1) Abs feat Nodesha – Miss Perfect (1) Black Eyed Peas – Where Is The Love? January 22, 201213 yr GA have 21 don't they? 20 top 10 hits in a row then Untouchable. See above editing. I knew Untouchable broke some streak, then remembered it made #11.
