Amazing #1  Such a good song, surprised at all the hate it seems to be getting, sure people would be loving this if Rihanna was behind it

That "hoover synth" Dizzee Rascal song that I heard is on Radio 1Xtra's playlist. It's called Guns N' Glory. http://www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra/playlist/

I googled it - it's apparently just from a mixtape he contributed towards, so nothing to be too excited about. I am eager to hear new material from Dizzee Rascal though - although to be successful in 2012, he'll have to bring something new to the table - although a Summer-dance hit would do well.

'Twilight' at #1 isn't as bad as I'd thought - it's not THAT bad, certainly a lot better than Rizzle Kicks' 'Mama Do The Hump'. Hoping 'Titanium' can climb 02-01 next week though, just to further 2012's record of 'songs climbing to the top spot', and that besides 'Twilight' and 'Wild Ones', I don't really want anything else at the top - Gotye perhaps, but not for a week or two.

Bless Amanda from Cover Drive, they deserve it, Twlight is great and brings a bit of summer into Janurary.

That's so right! It's not that dissimilar to a lot of Rihanna's more urban tracks. Barbados for domination of music now please!

It also sounds similar to some Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo songs. I absolutely love this type of music anyway (see: my sig).

Ah, it's a mixtape song. It makes sense, as I did wonder why there wasn't more hype around it (Radio 1 would playlist anything Dizzee releases immediately tbh ). At least Dizzee is still doing music though.

Congrats to both David Guetta and Sia, Titanium is now officially the highest peaking single from Nothing But The Beat

Also congrats to Cover Drive. I really like Twilight :D

Indeed, I was shocked at the initial 'not as good as Lick Ya Down' reactions to it in the pop thread, first time I listened to it I instantly thought 'wow, this is a huge smash in waiting', I was taken by it straight away  Definitely didn't see it going to #1 though, I was thinking more #4! Still, it's better than Lick Ya Down in every way possible.

And it proves my theory that only US, UK and Barbadian acts can get #1 singles in the UK anymore :P Although it looks as if we might be on course for a French/Australian one next week, unless a Canadian gets in the way - either way, it's all good for the international quota!

I'm Canadian team next sunday. Go Alyssa!

Well, that was because it didn't seem to have any 'Imma flip the script, put you on my hitlist' lines at first. I should learn never to trust my initial reactions to a song, particularly if they aren't positive. Lick Ya Down is still wonderfully catchy. Twilight is a far better song as a whole though, and I'm glad it was their #1.

It reminds me of something Rihanna would've done in her 'Music Of The Sun' / 'A Girl Like Me' days when she had a bit of a more barbadian flavour to her music. A decent song, it just sounds a bit dated imo.
