As for the single, I think it will debut low top 20 and climb to top 3 next week. Singles sales aren't THAT low at the moment, certainly not as bad as the albums.

"Born This Way" couldn't climb into the top 2 almost exactly a year ago with an almost identical release strategy, why would "Give Me All Your Luvin'"?

Nobody has even heard the song.

Alyssreid song is awful cover version with a horrible rap in the middle. I'd rather titanium be no1.

I'm comfortable believeing she'll never make an album as good as Ray of Light ever again :(

I agree, I know Gaga debuted top 3 straight away but there was far more hype around her and I don't think Madonna has quite that same power any more (I'm NOT comparing the two btw :lol: )

I've not seen any hype around Madonna apart from this week - so I don't see it doing much come Sunday. I don't even think it'll crack the top 40 officially this week, possibly do a Britney Spears' 'Till the World Ends'. It's success depends on whether the radio stations pick it up or not in time.

So what are we expecting Lana to sell then? 80k?

I think it should pass 100k then if that's true :o To be honest I would have predicted it for that anyway if it weren't for the underperformance of its title track (although it looks like that could actually climb on the chart this week anyway).

 

It's annoying that that article says record sales are the lowest they've been in 17 years - that's not true. It's the lowest the #1 album's sales have been in 17 years. Sales overall have been worse since then.

 

The reporter also seems to have forgotten that + had a second week at #1 on the New Year's Day chart.

50k? Bloody hell, the only act I've ever seen go to #1 with less than a x2 Tuesday conversion rate (ie. selling less Tuesday-Saturday than it did on Monday alone) was Muse, and I'm not entirely sure why that happened. Not even Oasis dropped off that badly so Lana has to be looking at 120k now. Excellent news, hopefully that means it can be a big success in the long run and get close to a million sales this year.

50k is excellent first day sales! :D over 30k more than the last three albums total for the week :lol: hopefully it should get around 90 or even 100k by the end of the week
