When you say 'this year's 21' I assume you mean on a much smaller scale :P I somehow can't see 'Our Version Of Events' selling nearly 4 million copies this year.

I think her album will be big and if it has a few more good single choices (as opposed to awful choices like 'Daddy' - what on Earth were they thinking?!) it might be a million seller but I don't think we'll be seeing another album as unbelievably dominant as '21' for a long time yet, if ever.

Anyway, I don't think Emeli will perform at the BRITs, surely if she's going to perform it would have been announced by now, especially as she has the Critics' Choice award already?

I wonder if Emeli Sandé could break through in the USA? There seem to be more breakthroughs there by British acts than ever at the moment with the likes of Jessie J, Ellie Goulding and even The Wanted scoring hits.

Mick Jagger getting his first UK #1 since the 60s.

Didn't 'Dancing In The Street' go to #1 in the 80s?

Yes it did, I'd almost forgotton about that but swiftly edited my post. :D

Also I think Lana Del Rey's album will sell more than Emeli's this year, but 'Our Version Of Events' could be an early contender for the second highest non-Q4 album (Take That are supposed to be releasing another album this year aren't they? If so they've probably got another year-end #1 wrapped up )

Guetta's going back to 99p, it was for a week only. I reckon Gotye won't take too long to overtake after that, it might not be in time for next Sunday's chart but you never know.

Too true, Gotye got very close on Friday to Titanium but the weekend effect has meant it has fallen back. I have no doubt by mid week it will be close to or already have overtaken Titanium (especially if it goes back to 99p).

I'd love Next to Me to be #1 next week but it'll easily be DJ Fresh (who will be incredibly front loaded but won't do a Twilight). As Emeli Sande's album is out the same week alot of the sales will go to the Album IMO.

Like someone said, Gotye's best chance to be #1 will be the week after next. The only things standing in the way will be Gym Class Heroes (which will go top 5 but can't see #1 ATM), DJ Fresh second week, or some sort of Brits effect (ala Dizzee/Florence, Adele, though looking at the potential performers I'm not convinced any of them will the power this year but who knows).

I think Our Version Of Events will sell massively, it sounds a very 'safe' album, sonically it's akin to Leona Lewis - Spirit from the previews, with a couple of uptempos (Heaven is by far the highest tempo though). I can see radio eating up further singles, and they'll definitely sell the album even if they're not as big as Heaven was or Next To Me will be.

For some reason I thought Emeli Sandé would be performing but it seems not. I'm sure this has been mentioned already and probably elsewhere on the forum but who is confirmed to be performing at The Brit Awards?

from their website:

Rihanna

Coldplay

Noel Gallagher

Florence & The Machine

Ed Sheeran

Bruno Mars

Adele

Blur

Olly Murs

from that list, I can't see anyone turning up out of the blue uninvited ( :D ) and stealing the show like Adele did last year, but I guess we'll wait and see

Jennifer Lopez potentially getting a second UK #1 barely a year after 'On The Floor'

It'll be her third, after Love Don't Cost A Thing and On The Floor.

Rihanna, Coldplay, Noel Gallagher['s High Flying Birds], Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Adele, Blur and Olly Murs.

If Adele does 'Turning Tables' then she could POSSIBLY be a contender for a post-BRITs #1 again, although the vast majority of its sales will probably come from the live version rather than having both versions in the top 3 on iTunes like last year, since nearly 4 million people will already own the album version  Plus it'll have less impact this time anyway with the law of diminishing returns and whatnot so unless it's a really, really strong performance it'll probably go low top 10 at best.

Not sure how the rest will fare with their live versions. Depends on what they're performing really I suppose. Like, if Coldplay do 'Princess Of China' I think that'd do better than 'Paradise' or 'Charlie Brown'.

4th :P LDCAT, Get Right and On The Floor

VERY unpopular opinon but I actually enjoyed Plan B's performance more than Adele's last year. I thought Adele sang well and it was a good performance, but nothing special and when I found out the next day the song was heading to #1 on iTunes I was shocked. :o

I'd have thought Coldplay and Rihanna would perform 'Princess of China' at the Brits but apparently it's not even Coldpkay's next single so that's a bit of a wasted promo slot. Ed Sheeran will probably do 'The A-Team' and Olly 'Heart Skips A Beat' but I wouldn't be suprised if Olly done a medley with 'Dance With Me Tonight'.

It'll be her third, after Love Don't Cost A Thing and On The Floor.

I think he meant second #1 within a year :P

(+ as Regina said you missed out Get Right).

 I phrased my sentence badly. I just meant another UK #1 within a year of 'On The Floor'.

Edit; Bré understands my way of thinking. :D

Charlie Brown is their current single in the UK but they've sent Princess Of China to radio in the USA now I believe (well, that's what someone told me when I asked about why it was back in the US iTunes top 100 anyway :P) so I'd say it's a pretty safe bet to be the fourth single.

I love how the Brits always produces world class performances - I agree, Plan B was just incredible last year!

My favourite ever performance was (obviously) Gaga's in 2010 - that's when i went from a huge fan, into an obsessed loon. It was just so haunting and spell binding, (and she did my favourite ever song) and i don't think she's ever topped it (apart from maybe the 2009 VMAs).

My favourite performance at the 2011 BRITs was Tinie Tempah's, with Adele a close 2nd and Plan B 3rd. Mumford & Sons and Arcade Fire were also great

 7. T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) [feat. Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez] - will.i.am

Of all the songs performed last year "Ready to Start" is my favourite, although Tinie Tempah was superb so he might just edge Arcade Fire for me. It was the perfect stage for Adele because "Someone Like You" sounded so different and refreshing on that first listen. It's held up dreadfully though so I can barely watch the performance any more.

07. will.i.am feat. Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez - T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)

17. Madonna feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A - Give Me All Your Luvin'

60. M.I.A. - Bad Girls

205. Taihg - Guiding Stars

227. Maverick Sabre - No One

Go and get this, Apple pays you for that

Nice to see M.I.A. climbing with 'Bad Girls' - perhaps featuring on the new Madonna track will actually boost her career a bit more. 'Paper Planes' and 'XXXO' were both just fantastic tracks in their own right, but I'm really liking 'Bad Girls' for the time being.

Guetta + will.i.am for the T2 next week please!
