Nice entry, C.W. I was meaning to listen to it this afternoon, but got sidetracked, so I'm looking forward to hearing it. I almost sent another Kaskade song a while back (the one called 'Eyes' B-) )

 

This the first time FYR Vojvodina and I have been separated in the semis... hopefully they're back on form proper (as in the wonderful 4 entries from Florrie to Voltaire Twins), although the past few times John's hoovered up my small semi points....

 

A few artists I recognise and wanted to hear more from/hear some of but haven't yet, Ms Mr, Lianna La Havas, Lisa Miskovsky, Azari & III, and a few others.

 

Looks like Hoster will bring me up to date with Gabrielle then. :lol: Shame Inn I Deg isn't going to be entered, but you can't have them all.

 

I shall rate my own chances of qualifying once I've heard the entire semi.

No disrespect, as I don't intend to second guess your decision at all, and I know you discuss everything seriously and fair, I just mainly wonder if you talked about it and what your thoughts on it were?

I personally have never heard of Karmin and looking back through the thread it didn't alert anyone else.

There's some hate for Karmin online, and quite a lot of Vevo plugging but I certainly wouldn't vote for it to be veto'd if I was a mod.

They (Karmin is a duo :D ) are signed to a major record label, 'Crash your party' (almost 9 millions views on youtube currently) went top 40 in the US and their profil do seem to be rapidly gaining, yes. 730 000 views in less than a month withouth proper promotion is another indicator, but given they DNQ'ed last time and are not that well known in the UK (I presume) so I guess they probably don't need to be vetoed as such.

Oh thanks, I don't think it would really have made much of a difference anyway.

I've already listened to a bunch of those, I noticed alot of dance-pop. Although it doesn't really surprise me.

I only knew two songs from the semi final I'm in (Serebro and Asteroids Galaxy Tour) so there's still lots of surprises to come.

I'd like to think so, Frida is certainly more in the ilk of those than PNAU and Queen Of Hearts.

I actually considered sending that Karmin song after being alerted to it by Katie Sky as she said it was one of her favourite songs at the moment on a uStream chat!!

Probably a result of the tremendously high quality of last month's contest but having listened to semi 1 I'm distinctly underwhelmed.

I'll join in with you, the quality of Semi 2 is nowhere on par compared to last monts contest.

We had a good couple of months to prepare entries for the last contest, whereas we had a week or so to do so for this contest, so it would have been hard for a lot of people to find something as great in that time frame I guess, hence the lower quality. Not that I can judge as I haven't started listening yet, I'll get back to you on that :P

 

I was sitting on Flares for over a month for example, and in the meantime had discovered Freja Loeb's song which I came 3rd with in UP, I was spoilt for choice!
