May 27, 201213 yr Less than 10 iirc. Crazy to think that the two highest scoring songs of all time are Scandinavian (i.e. Western). SUCK ON THAT BRITISH PUBLIC! Block voting, schmock voting.
May 27, 201213 yr There's a 15 point difference, Loreen got 372 and Alexander got 387. As the voting went on, I did wonder if Loreen was going to beat it, it looked quite likely! But she won by a landslide either way as well as coming close to the all time record, so we can't complain :P
May 27, 201213 yr Surely this will prove to the BBC what a fantastic platform this is for a great modern song? I don't see why UK artists feel that it's 'beneath them' to do Eurovision, when with the right song they could score a mammoth hit across Europe. The thing is - this isn't just a great modern song, and just a great modern song sent by UK wouldn't win it. La La Love is an example of a modern song, but Eurovision still doesn't seem to love the more Guetta type pop. As much as I do believe Euphoria is more generic than a lot are heiling it to be on here, it has something extra from a modern song - possibly the performance? Possibly the fact it's soft then hard hitting, Titanium style? I do agree with you though, like I said yesterday, this needs to be our wake-up As much as it pains me to say, the 2011 flop was NEEDED. If she participated in the Final then I don't think she'd have returned. Plus it kind of built the platform, along with a (relatively small but still) fanbase for her participation in 2012. Danny must be thinking of SUICIDE now, since he once rejected Euphoria. :D I'd think he'll feel better now, to be honest. He was gutted he came 2nd again, well this time, he's lost out to a Eurovision winner with the 2nd biggest points scorer of all time? He turned down Euphoria, yes, but it'd be silly to assume it'd be the same song with him behind it. This will probably soften the blow for him, he lost to the eventual winner of the contest he wanted to get in.
May 27, 201213 yr LOL. Now THAT would be interesting. He should cover 'Euphoria' himself just to give us a feel of what it could potentially have been like.
June 1, 201213 yr It's taken me this long to realise that the winner of next year's Melodifestivalen gets a free pass to the Eurovision final. Time for Sweden to take a risk I feel! As an aside, has anybody who's seriously considering going (and not our usual universal chorus of 'I'll definitely be there' which never happens) booked a hotel yet? Obviously I'm just assuming that it will be in Stockholm but I booked a single room for the 15-19 May (Weds-Sun) for about £250. I don't mind staying in the room by myself because I'm sure there will be a few people I know going who I can meet up with in the day/evenings (Peter SURELY at least)... But yeah, anybody thinking about going, I'd provisionally book a hotel asap because the prices are already sky high in anticipation for the contest coming to Stockholm on those dates. It's free cancellation until 24 hours beforehand on most sites so you've got nothing to lose really...
June 1, 201213 yr Where did you book that hotel Rich? I have a couple of friends who are going, but they are incredibly rich and are splashing out on five star luxury, but looking on booking.com I can't get that four night period for less than about £650 :(
June 1, 201213 yr Colonial Hotel, it's a ten minute walk from the main station which seems fine by me! I was VERY lucky to get it, it was the last room available at that price and the next one up is about £200 more! It was on booking.com that I did it btw. At least I can rest easy that I have a hotel booked, now all I need is the time off work, flights, and of course Eurovision tickets, which I feel may be the hardest to obtain  At least dress rehearsal/semi tickets should be easy enough to get as a compromise. I'd go on the Wednesday to make sure I don't miss either of the semis, seeing the second one live would be rather great! Obviously if it goes to Gothenburg or Malmo I'll have to seriously rethink my plans, but I'm not booking hotels in both of those too on the offchance :drama:
June 1, 201213 yr I would like to go, I'll have to get a bit of money together first but if I do go I'll probably go for a hostel rather than a hotel.
June 1, 201213 yr I would like to go, I'll have to get a bit of money together first but if I do go I'll probably go for a hostel rather than a hotel. Same, it will be save save save for me over the next year! Even hostels will probably fill up quite quickly so I'd try and book one in advance if you can. Obviously if we're there on the same days beforehand I'll happily sightsee with you in the day/clubbing in the evening or whatever...same goes for anyone on here who goes!

I'll see if I can sort something next week, I'll have to work out roughly how much it's going to cost and decide whether it's practical and reasonable enough to go for!
June 1, 201213 yr Author Sadly if I do ever get the cash for anything, Melodifestivalen would probably be more realistic than Eurovision itself for me (costs must be astronomical enough already in Stockholm, without the added pressure of massive demand!) - which wouldn't be too bad as I imagine SVT will go all out on MF as a dry run for the contest itself. But then, 'if I get the cash' is a big if.
June 2, 201213 yr I'm in Florida for the contest and will probably miss the MF Final because one of my best mates is coming from America to the UK in March. Timing sucks :(
June 2, 201213 yr Well, it's only taken 4 months but FINALLY... I love Euphoria - in a way that I find it more than just an 8.5/10 very very good song!
June 2, 201213 yr About time Rob :drama: I had been thinking about how Amazing might have done at Eurovision recently though, I wonder if it'd have done an Eric Saade or more of a Tooji? It would have landslided MF if not for the almighty Euphoria getting in the way...
June 2, 201213 yr Author Tooji and Danny would've been fighting for the same votes really. Tooji would've done better but I think Russia would've definitely won if Sweden had sent Danny...Amazing would've probably been another top three though.
June 2, 201213 yr Well, Danny did recently say in an article that he (and all of his fellow MF '12 finalists) would still have won Eurovision. :D Oh please. Even if he did get into the Final, Can would've probably EATEN HIM UP ALIVE mercilessly performing right after (as well as juries completely abandoning him). #9 at the very best.
