Oh, we do have Adele's lead over Emeli now I see. 1.1k isn't much, could be close between the two by Sunday.

Gotye increased his lead by 2.3k in just one day - he's going to have an enormous lead again this week. Hopefully his sales will stay fairly sturdy, I can't see them increasing again but another week over 90k could be possible?

Hope Kelly climbs to #8, and a couple more spots on the album chart come Sunday :)
Kelly Clarkson's Stronger single is looking like it will sell more copies than Mr know it all, I think I actually prefer it. Go kelly!!!
Surely there isn't a person on this earth who hasn't got '21' by now?

I haven't :D Along with more than 55 million other Britons (legal copies anyway).

Well it won't be as good. X factor ruin everything they cover by releasing a watered down weak version which is always inferior to the original. Thats X factor for you. A pile of poop!!

Can't we forget it's a new version of an older song and just appreciate it for the pop magic that it is?! I think it's a great party banger - and Marcus looks so fit in the video!

Total surprise to see the Ting Tings back in the charts, never thought we would see of hear of them again.

Well the album was always going to chart. We might never see them on the singles chart again but I can't see why the album being in the top 40 is a surprise.

You can forget it's a new version if you want but other people are still entitled to their opinion. I don't support the x factor anyway, so it doesnt interest me. Pile of crap.

Midweek Charts update: Sande overtakes Adele

Source: MW

12:28 | Friday March 2, 2012

By Paul Williams

Emeli Sande has moved ahead of Adele in the race to top the UK artist albums chart this weekend, but there are only a few hundred sales separating them.

Sande’s Virgin album Our Version Of Events is now the week so far’s top-selling artist album, having been behind the XL-issued 21 all week, but its lead is so narrow that either title could end up at number one on Sunday.

Ed Sheeran’s Asylum/Atlantic album + is a few thousand sales further behind in third place, according to Official Charts Company Data, while Polydor act Lana Del Rey is fourth with Born To Die and Meat Loaf’s new Sony album Hell In A Handbasket is appearing as a new entry at five. And the late Whitney Houston’s RCA-handled The Essential likes like moving into the Top 10 with its sales up 89% by the close of business on Thursday to move it 17-7 on the midweeks.

The picture on the singles chart is a lot clearer with Island act Gotye around 13,000 sales ahead at the top with Somebody That I Used To Know featuring Kimbra, while the AATW/Island-issued Rockstar by Dappy featuring Brian May is new at two. Emeli Sande’s Next To Me drops 2-3, Atlantic act Flo Rida featuring Sia’s Wild Ones holds at four and DJ Fresh featuring Rita Ora’s Ministry of Sound single Hot Right Now reverses 3-5.

What a contrast from Tues mids, Gotye is now 13k ahead of Dappy.

Looks like the album top 2 are pretty close, it could go either way, album sales must be down on last week. Sales must be below 40k, back to what it was prior to the Brits, last week was the Brits boost (well not much of a boost).

Sorry but is that new Arctic Monkeys song a b-side?

No, its just a download track.

So its just a brand new track?

Mothers Day should lift album sales in the coming weeks - as well as big new entries from Brucie and co!
